We are Ken & Gina. In 2019 we weren’t happy with the way things were going for us, so before Brexit, we sold our home and most of our our belongings, and drove to Portugal in our motorhome Bob.

We bought an old sheep farm in Castelo Branco, Central Portugal, where we live the good life with our beautiful animals. Back in 2019, we could not find any videos on living in Portugal, so we started this channel, documenting our move from the city life to the farm life, and buying a farm.

    1. Interesting bike. I recently bought one with center drive, the motor is on the same shaft as the pedals. It is ‘pedal assist’ only with no throttle. After looking at all the options (front, centre, and rear hub drive) I chose that because I was getting the bike for exercise more than transport. My friends with hub drive love theirs as well, but can’t go banging down mountain bike tracks like I can. (Though they are Sometimes faster going uphill….) YMMV

    2. I tried looking on description but don't see anything. Would you say the motor is waterproof? In case it rains or end up going through a big puddle.

    3. Happy Birthday, Ken! 🎉🎊🎂🙌🏽

Great job putting this bike to the test! Since we just had rented some e-bikes a couple months ago, it’s fresh in my memory what I wished were different- I wanted the bike to be less bulky, have rear suspension and have the option for a second battery. This addresses all three and looks great! 🙌🏽 Seriously love the styling on this. Bookmarking this, as we had already planned on shopping around for some. Thanks!

    4. I was wondering about that, your driving, kind of. Just thought you were filming. So awefull. My Mom was put to sleep 5 yrs ago to have a stint put in. Well, she ended up having Vertigo. They put her in this "thing" that flips you (buckled in) upside down and all around. To help her equilibrium. Didn't work! She had a Cadillac that my Dad had payed off before he died, which was 4 yrs before this happened. She could drive with the Vertigo. And the Doctors wouldn't clear her even after a year. So it's been 5 yrs and my sister ended up driving the car and would let my nephew drive it. Well, that's the 4th Transmission/ blown heads, he has done. I'd live one of those bikes. Maybe I should go on YouTube and tell them I can't drive…haha. I do have a bad back and don't ride my beach bike (no gears) with thick tires, (old kind but new, Teal and beautiful! ) and I have a 15 speed. But bent over, is not good for my back. The beach one, well since I stopped exercising, my legs aren't like they used to be, cut like rock!! So it's tough. Sorry not whining, just being real. A guy in the marina where my sailboat is and gave .e a folding bike for my boat. That way I have wheels when I pull in to another port. Oh I love the smell of Eucalyptus! Great video! I'll have to check it out.

    5. More like a motor cycle than bike I would think you need more protection than you are wearing. I fell of a horse once at high speed and thank God i had on long sleeve shirt and jeans and boots. I got slammed across a driveway filled with rocks. I had no damage because of the clothes covering my body. Your helmet doesn’t look like it would be much protection for your head if you hit the pavement. I am a firm believer if you are prepared for worst it never happens!

    6. Wonderful video! The lake reminds me of Lake Eucumbene in Australia, it also has a flooded village below its surface 🙂 Some great fishing is done there

    7. Hi Ken! Happy birthday! It looks like you are enjoying your new toy. My husband and I (who are currently in the US, but are exploring Portugal as a retirement home) just bought ebikes. They are Rad Power Bikes, 750W like yours. I heard that I cannot bring these bikes into Portugal because they are over 250W. You researched it and found out that you can if you get a moped license? I wonder if that is hard to do. Please keep us updated! As 750W ebikes become more popular, perhaps the guidance in Portugal (and the rest of the EU) will be more clear. Stay safe and enjoy your bike! I loved seeing the scenery.

    8. Looks like a great bike. I'd be interested how it performs with a trailer attached to it (if it's possible) loaded up with tools/shopping etc

    9. Hi ..carefull
Nice bike but old well middle age doesn't just creep up on you boom and it's getting you.. please keep cycling real stuff… loving the geese..didn't know they loved water so much…nutter the big one
      ..love to Gina

    10. Ken, regarding your not driving. Is it Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) you have, or something else?

    11. Thank You for this video…I've been considering an e-bike for where we live in Portugal and after seeing your ride…we bought one today. Hopefully it will arrive before the end of this month. Thank You and Happy Travels (on the e-bike) Hope you had a wonderful birthday!

    12. Hope you had a great day Ken, happy birthday.
Love the chunky features on the bike, like the big tyres, it looks robust. Seems like you are cracking along at a good speed.

    13. Parabéns por seu aniversário Ken, e que presentão vc ganhou!!! Na hora certa, eu como vc tb não conduso carro pelo mesmo problema auditivo… Beleza de Bike e como sempre seus vídeos são ótimos. Beijos pra Gina🎉🎉

    14. I recently got one of these and absolutely love it. Like most things though there are some good points, and some could be better points (I don't really have any "bad" points on this, none of the could be betters are deal breakers).

      The good:
Range: I got the 2 battery configureation, and while 47 miles per battery is a pipe dream unless you're a < 100 lb person riding in pedal assist 1 at all times, it still has very good range. I weigh around 230 and in normal riding (Normal for me is about 50% pedaling in PA1 and 50% cruising in PA2) I would estimate I get 25-30 miles per battery. Nowwhere near the stated range, but if you believe stated ranges then I have some swampland I'd like to sell you :).

Style: Let's face it, the thing is cool as hell!

Comfort: Easily the most comfortable to ride bike I've ridden (I did strap a small pillow to the seat to add to the comfort though)

Price: I got mine for $1450 with the dual batteries. Haven't really seen anything in this class that tops
      it.

Support: Had a problem with the kickstand (bottom piece fell off while riding). Contacted support, and a replacement is on the way. Considering lots of these companies barely acknowledge your existance once they have your money, their responsiveness was refreshing. A for now, A+ once I actually get it.

Lights: The lighting on this thing is probably close to best in class. Dual headlights and super bright tail/brake lights.

Overall experience: It's just a blast to ride, and it turns heads.

      The Could be better:

Brakes: Ok they work fine, and they stop me, but hydraulic would have been nice.

Cruise Control: This bike is obviously intended as a cruiser more than a peddler, so where is the cruise control?

Power: I would have liked a bit more torque out of a 750 watt motor.

Cargo Capacity: If you get the dual battery, there isn't any.

Again, none of these things are deal breakers. Adjust the brakes once a week, hold the throttle, pedal up hills, and carry a backpack <shrug>. If you're training for the olympics then there are other bikes that are better to pedal, but if you just want to cruise around and have fun and get some exercise in with some pedaling, then this is one awesome bike.

    15. Great video as usual Ken ! i see they spraying the skies alot there it looks really bad, is it affecting the growth of food/veggies etc…i have friends there they say its affecting there orange trees leaving black on all the leaves. stay safe
