    1. Love your show Chris and I like it even better when you're respectful and mindful about others. Kuddos to you and swift recovery to those who crashed yesterday

    2. Thymen Arensmans Dad tweeted the same sentiment yesterday about his sons crash last year. Seems the families would disagree with the ‘offended for the loved ones’ perspective. I can understand why…

    3. Its a difficult one, Thymen Arensman's father said similar on twitter. On the other hand Peta Cavendish and Adam Hansen have put forward very good arguments for improving how teams and races cascade injury information to next of kin as an alternative, it seems not all teams do a good job of this. At the end of the day as fans we can turn off the tv or leave the room if we don't want to see it, then catch up on the days events later without seeing stuff we don't want to see, whereas next of kin deserve as much high quality and timely info as possible regarding their loved ones.

    4. guess you are right about this in case they actually get up again. but what if the rider dies? do you think they should have shown the footage of gino mäders crash in the tds? im glad they didnt.

    5. I'm a casual observer of the sport starting with the TDF in 2022. Wout became my favorite before I even knew this was a team sport or how the strategy works, then naturally I rooted for Jumbo. Seeing Sep have that bad spill last year, and then his courage battling back was a total inspiration.
Now just days apart, Wout and Jonas have serious injuries, it's tough to take, and then add in all the great racers that went down in this one pileup.
[I've learned a lot from your analysis, by the way…]
I'm sure they have brainstormed over how to make the sport safer, but It's one of the more dangerous sports, given the speed, the closeness, changing road conditions, and the suddenness of accidents, with little in the way of protective gear. I hate to see anybody go down, especially seeing how the apparel gets shredded, and limbs get tangled in the machines.

    6. Chris thanks for this episode and for not commenting the race itself. That is a very sad moment in cycling, once again. Im so sorry for Jonas. Question is: shouldnt the organization be blamed for not signalling the danger of that bend with a big concrete ditch? Its clear the bend is not well designed and furthermore that ditch is a killer.

    7. It’s tough. I remember the 2011 Giro and the cameraman got right in Wouter’s face even before there was medical on the scene. We essentially saw his last breadth. I wasn’t a fan of tv coverage zooming in on Chris unconscious in a ditch and then switching to the action before he was attended to. I get the family needs to know, just film with some compassion.

    8. Chris, tell your wife thank you for her informed comments. I was thinking the same things she said when I heard the announcers moaning over the continued coverage.

    9. Possible that disk brakes are causing these accidents in the corners ?
If the disks touch at these high speeds could it cause the front wheel to give way? It happened to a friend of mine before …

    10. Scary setup with the descent curve and serious roadside hazards on the outside of the curve. Not saying these riders didn't, but this is one reason why I do serious recon before any race. If it were me, I would have been on the inside of this curve if at all possible. Hope everyone makes a speedy recovery.

    11. President of the riders’ association has a different opinion. “Out of respect of riders that have fallen in a crash and their families at home. The CPA does not support TV coverage to continue to film them while they are down,” he said in a social media post. “Riders have reached out to me asking if we can make this a rule and we support that. Please be mindful.”

    12. There was no "root." Live footage is buried because it's obvious that the crash was caused by a mechanical failure of trash road disk brakes and trash tubeless tires.
