Easter Break afforded me the chance to do some AVATA flying in the Oxford Cytech Workshop, to try and capture some footage good enough to show potential course attendees where the workshop is located and how it is set up – of course, I jumped at the chance to put my AVATA to good use and help out!

After driving from Oxford and meeting up with 3 of the Cycles Tea we set about recording what we could, some intro footage of cycling into the campus, then walking to the workshop, some footage showing the layout and the tooling setup, and of course some fun flying through tight spaces, as well as capturing the guys demonstrating the tools…

A bit of fun and a lot of footage was captured and passed over to our marketing department, and a short personal video was created for sharing on YouTube…

I hope it is enjoyed… I have added some extra footage to this version, I think it works a little better….

The team at Activate Cycle Academy are dedicated to providing industry-leading cycle mechanics training
Activate Cycle Academy (formerly ATG Training) has been training cycle mechanics since 2001 having developed the professional qualification, Cytech, in conjunction with the Association of Cycle Traders (ACT). Since then, over 19,000 (and counting) Cytech technical training courses and qualifications have been delivered to candidates including staff working for some of the world’s leading bicycle manufacturers and distributors. As a result, the cycle market has a growing and well-respected professional reputation built on highly qualified staff providing the best possible skilled service to their customers.

OUR IDENTITY AS A TRAINING PROVIDER
In 2016, ATG Training became part of Activate Learning. This large educational group with a global reach, is committed to transforming lives through their approach to learning. The group comprises secondary, further and higher education, apprenticeship and business training.

In May 2018, ATG Training moved its operations from its long-time base in Aylesbury to a new, purpose-built workshop and headquarters in Oxford. This is part of a new £8 million campus shared with City of Oxford College and Activate Apprenticeships that has been created to provide a specialist hub for the teaching of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), including our state-of-the-art cycles maintenance training workshop. This means we now have five strategically positioned and highly acclaimed training centres running the spine of the country in Guildford, Oxford, Stafford, Darlington and Banbury, offering the most comprehensive range of cycle maintenance training courses across the UK.

The final piece of the Activate Learning takeover was completed in 2020, when Activate Cycle Academy became the new name of ATG Training. This name change signified the full integration of the cycles training business within Activate Learning. We still deliver the same excellent range of internationally recognised Cytech courses and cycle maintenance apprenticeships, but now benefit from being part of the much larger educational and training group, Activate Learning.

Since then, we have continued to thrive under the Activate Cycle Academy banner, delivering more training courses year-on-year and enrolling a growing number of apprentices who are all choosing to train with us.
