Thieves are becoming increasingly brazen with daytime thefts hitting record highs, official figures show.

More than seven in ten thefts (71 per cent) from a person – such as pickpocketing – and nearly half of bike thefts (46 per cent) took place in the morning or afternoon, compared with previous highs of 67 per cent and 45 per cent respectively, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Across 11 crime groups for theft or criminal damage including vehicle crime, five saw daytime rates for the offences hit record highs in the year ending March 2023, the ONS’s British Crime Survey showed on Tuesday.

  1. Ah hell no, someone needs to get their bike back.

One time in college I had my bike stolen. The thief removed my lock, and was using my bike to get to his classes. I found my bike one day and it was locked up at the bike rack outside of a school discourse hall.

I was working a part time job for the University public safety to help pay for school, and we clocked in at the police station. So I called the cops I knew to do a stakeout and wait for the thief to come get my bike after his class ended.

The cops busted the thief, I got my bike back, and the thief got charges pressed on him.

  2. My bike is to crappy to steal. Maybe I should up grade but first I got to figure out how to steal a battery powered cut off wheel. Very panicky that draws attention to crime makes him look guilty.

  3. Thats a 1mm disc that would shatter with one kick to his arm or a push. Im a welder ive had more of these disc shatter on me than i care ti remember. Ive also built cycle locking.the thieves will cut the softer metal, choosing the locking bracket over the hardened lock the 50mm hoops that come out of the ground, are 3mm thick. Cutting these is hard work with a 114mm disc. Ive made, and sometimes had to cut up and scrap, all types of cycle racks in the UK. If it looks flimsy it is. Dont even bother with front wheel v locks on walls. It can take under 20 seconds to get through them.

  4. А я думал в Лондоне интеллигентные лорды живут😂😂 а оказывается хуже чем в России😅
