The UCI Cycling World Championships, a brand new multi-discipline competition organized by the International Cycling Union (UCI), brought together all the road, track and mountain bike disciplines under one event held every four years preceding the Olympic Games; these disciplines still continue to hold separate annual world championship events outside of the planned quadrennial editions.

The Cycling World Championships were launched in 2023 with its first iteration held at Glasgow and areas across Scotland. The event had a budget of £45–50 million, with funding coming from various local and national bodies, which include the Scottish Government and UK Sport.

These Championships had attracted 8,000 athletes from 120 countries, competing in 216 events (including some for professional and amateurs, able-bodied and para-cyclists, youth and age-grade athletes) across 13 cycle sports disciplines.
