In this stage we cross the Czech border after Bad Leonfelden. We generally follow the EuroVelo 7 cycle route, and descending along the Vltava river, we reach the beautiful town of Český Krumlov. We continue cycling towards České Budějovice and camp at Lake Štilec.

In this stage we cross the Czech border after Bad Leonfelden We generally follow the EuroVelo 7 cycle route and descending along the Vltava river we reach the beautiful town of Český Krumlov We continue cycling towards České Budějovice and camp at Lake Štilec

After a quiet night in the Dreieggwald, our stealth camping spot is it time to leave early before getting caught by the farmer Nice cycle route in Austria! Rough unpaved MTB trail towards the Czech border And this is the European continental divide Between the North Sea and Black Sea

Right goes to Moldau, Elbe and North Sea Left towards Danube / Black Sea Now we’re heading to the North Sea There lies Czechia This is the route for today: Near Habruck we camped, somewhere here Back tracking to the cycle route Up & down to Bad Leonfelden And here a very rough gravel road

Until the continental divide Now we’re here We could take the paved road Or we could take the gravel road And then like this way Or that way And these are the road signs A lot of colours And this is the path of the bike route Now we’re at the border

We’re now in Czechia, what is the route? Following the S8 to Vissy Brod I’m cycling now on a narrow asphalt road A pleasant change from bouncing on the cobble stones And gravel This is Czechia! Hardly any cars, only bicycles

Near Vissy Brod we leave the EV 7 bike route and take the main highway (shorter but more traffic) This is our first campsite in Czechia Campsite Štilec at a lake Quiet campsite Next to a busy highway though To reach the campground, we had to cross this busy highway N39 It was nearly impossible

Although cycling is allowed it is not recommended! Those greay N(ational) roads on the map are pretty dangerous Yellow (tertiary) roads are fine White roads often unpaved sometimes paved And the orange (secondary) roads Are sometimes busy, sometimes not Busy highway, not recommended for cycling, too dangerous! The campsite has good facilities

Plenty of space, not too crowded
