Foreign [Applause] down on the coast hope you enjoy it I’m going to take you along with me I’ll try and get some good shots if they’re not riding too fast I know what they’re like So as you can see it’s a beautiful morning we are it’s 8 30 a.m it’s going to be a sculpture today so we’re going to get out nice and early it’s our last ride which is unfortunate but we’re going to make the most of it

It’s going to be a nice flat ride today I think we’re looking at something like 200 or 300 meters of climbing so it should be a fairly smooth ride so what we do need to do first is get some water some aqua we’ve run out in the

Place we stay and we’ve just been a bit lazy we’ve got a little bit but not enough get some aqua and then we’re away they’re way ahead so I’m going to catch them up now let’s get this on video because this is James Payne he does pay for stuff but

Watch this what’s going on here Mario and I want he’s got the mushroom head as well Instagram is in the wild So it shouldn’t be a shock to me but another one of Mike’s Roots has led us down a gravel road again taking us down gravel paths on road bike you really need to watch where you’re going I guarantee you if this was at home a neighbor on their own bikes

They wouldn’t be planning groups like this maybe it will teach me to plan my own next time you’ve got beautiful roads all over Spain and Mike on every single route has taken us down a long gravel path it’s basically trying to convince me to get a

Gravel bite now I do like the idea of gravel riding okay so I’m not against it it’s just that in the winter when it’s gunky and muddy everywhere it is great to ride gravel are you still a lot of mountain biking however meaning after it’s all the cleaning you

Have to do I don’t want to clean loads and loads and loads of mud off of my bike certainly not a gravel bike so in the summer I do it and I know you know I know there’s going to be judgment I’m aware of that I don’t care just being honest

Anyway back to the ride foreign So we’re already 31k in that’s gone super quick leony climbing heading for a descent now but it’s a beautiful day it’s not too hot either it’s just right also there’s a bit of a confliction here so James basically measures in miles per hour and feet I’m measuring

Kilometers and meters and I did so because when I first started riding everyone seemed to be kilometers sort of Continental way so it’s really awkward when you’re on a ride and trying to say oh well and so miles in and I’m thinking what’s that in kilometers well we’ve climbed so-and-so

Feet and I’m like well what’s that in meters that means nothing to me you may as well just be talking another language what do you guys measure in miles per hour or kilometers per hour Foreign I think that’s right if I’m wrong apologies have a look have a look at this how beautiful is this a bit of lunch now coffee stock for your chats take it easy and then a nice ride back it’s been one of the easiest rides actually nice Pace

I think that’s because James was leaving without too much anyway bit of coffee bit of food I’ll show you We just wolfed our food down now back to it it was good cortado ham and cheese baguette of olive oil nice bit of fuel to keep us going just over halfway through a bit of a headwind and about 28 so not bad I’ll knock behind James in a minute I’m away I think we’re gonna have a headwind the whole way home not Pedley through triple that was me thinking this is going to be an easy one when is it ever easy when you’re doing a long one Yeah so it came off a while back luckily we’re coming up with a roundabout and it was a bit sketchy I wasn’t know exactly where we’re going James was in front um directly in front kind of was caught between two minds where to go hadn’t broke but it slowed

Right down and basically did it a little bit and then I was on his will and yeah it’s one of those but luckily I got to a point where I’d broken I can actually touch his wheel but the bike went a little bit so it wasn’t I wasn’t filming imagine

Just went over a little bit on the left elbow so a bit stiff but I’ve had worse so it’s one of those it’s weird it always happens we sell it quite innocuous you know you feel like you’ve done like more dangerous stuff but there’s many many more times where we would have been

Susceptible to an accident highly recommend albertira it’s quite I think it’s quite cheap to stay here but you’ve got access to so many different parts and it’s really really lovely loads of cycling it’s been such a good ride today beautiful weather it’s getting a bit hot now just stopped in some shade

To be honest I don’t know what happened I think a mechanical let’s get a bit of rest they’re coming I need to go chatting a bit Just finished the ride we’ve done riding for three minutes at three minutes I wish it was three minutes riding for three hours 38 minutes 84k average 23 Max 52. 264 meters so on the way there it was so quick we were flying and I kind of Mike’s swimming trunks only real men

Wear pink yeah we were flying and I kind of thought here’s a breeze but we are absolutely he’s smashing this and then it wasn’t until the way back where we just hit a constant headwind then it just became that it will crash um it just became hard work and

Obviously the sun’s getting hotter as the afternoon’s kick it in anyway sit down now chill drink rest up stretch and we’re done I hope you guys enjoyed the content if you did please like comment and subscribe and just gonna say cheers everyone

  1. At 5:54 you’re in La Mata, that’s La Mata beach. Know it very well. The blue lake is just on the other side. Some lovely riding around there. The ladies Vuelta will take in the Rebate road also. Not far from where you rode. Nice video! Thanks for sharing.

  2. Gotta love the cycle paths. Only civilized countries do that well. Enough of this sun, back to your green island. I measure distances in decicakes per km. cheers mate!

  3. Mate, I was sceptical about a gravel bike too but I have literally just finished converting an old flat bar hybrid in to a drop bar gravel and having taken it out on the trails for the first time last weekend, I'm a complete convert! Had to go in to Central London for meetings yesterday as well and even chose the gravel bike with its 43mm, chunky tyres over my super lightweight carbon fibre bike!

As for imperial or metric, it depends. Imperial for longer distances, metric for shorter measurements but then I'm the child of a tradesman's rowing up in the 80s, so I've grown up using both interchangeably! 😂

  4. Enjoy watching ur videos Ben, thanks for making and posting them, having watched ur videos around Torrevieja if you have been to Mallorca how would you compare in terms of routes etc.
I was in Mallorca in March for the 1st time and loved it. Best wishes 😎🚴‍♂️👍
