Hello from a magnificently gray miserable cold laand what a perfect day to show everyone our gazebo for the first time as many of you will know a couple of years ago at the Chelsea flower show when I was there with DAV and philli I bought a beautiful gazebo

For the wal garden and last year Amry put it together erected it in the middle of the wall Garden in Pride of place and it was all filmed for British television shatow DIY so I haven’t been able to reveal it until it went out on British

TV that has now happened so although it is midwinter and pretty freezing I want to share the footage of the building of the Gazebo and of course the Gazebo itself so let’s go back in time to last year when it All Began it’s a big day

Today we’re out here in the W Garden and we’re about to start foundations for the Gazebo it’s actually finally happening and we can start just taking off the entire 8 m diameter circle that we’ve got the Gaze is actually only a 4 meter diameter just where those posts are

That’s how big it’s going to be but then because it’s a little bit small in the middle of the garden Davey’s designed a big flower Bard all the way around it and that is what we’re going to be creating as well we won’t be able to

Plant any of it now we’re in beginning of June and it can’t be planted until the Autumn but at least what we can do is start to prepare the soil get the turf off put some compost down put a membrane on top of that so by the time

We do start to plant in the Autumn the ground is Perfect right we’ve handed over to someone competent because this was going to take way too long with me working on it and we were also going to hit a Australia quite soon he’s so good with it look how fast he is and so delicate just close your eyes and let them

Rest I know it’s hard to fall asleep but do your best cuz there’s a place that I go to when I want to hide from all the shades of blue cuz at times I think of leaving my mind takes me back to fall when the snow begins to sing good night to

Warm that’s the first one no oh second one no way it’s a sound level yes picking up off the laser over there it might just been picking up off me actually I think I was right in the way sure okay okay that’s so clever so you

Don’t need to be looking at it yeah it’s brilliant down it’s one of those those I have never met a man more interested in levels you are so precise it’s marvelous you don’t want anything on the H on the H is that very suffk yeah nothing on the

H yeah sorry all of these uh pads are going to be level and the patio itself is going to have a slope yes but um yeah need get all of these pinged in then once these are all pinged in I can then fill them up to the top and then

Tomorrow I can then scrape out cuz we got to go 300 deep inside for the hardcore and then the blinding and so the slope on the patio floor itself that’s for rain runoff that’s for the runoff yeah because you’ve got to I’ve taken the string line off cuz I was

Damaging it but you’ve got a this is on this side is your highest point so highest point of the whole patio PA slopes down to the round area with a slight slope and then it drops down to this side down to that side there yeah side you’re the reent to my pride

Never with and runs drive and your roses are my gu goodbye my friend Our Love Remains but not this way I’m in your garden as a just feel the wind if you look close you see the Li Dance and how they slowly grow I’m counting years as they go

By now all the Li’s gone and AC is brought to life cuz at times I think I’m leaving my mind takes me back to fall when the snow begins to sink night to War but I will never leave your side you’re the reent to my pride never with and R Dr and your roses are my guides goodbye my friend I love and L but not this way I’m in your garden as it [Applause] Day Oh but I will never leave your side you’re the reason to want my bride never wither and burs dry and your roses are my gu goodbye my friend My Love Remains but not this way I’m in your garden as I know you’ll meet me here one day my cousin is the most painstaking patient man that I have ever met but it wasn’t finished once he’d completed the work it then took the formidable team of Davey Andy and Kirsty with quite a bit of help from Marie as well to plant

Everything around the gazebo using Davey’s incredible planting design Davey these are beautiful what are these for so these are going around the Gazebo and then the climers are going over the Gazebo obviously and which climers are they uh I can tell you don’t need to tell me

One’s in flower there’s a rose yeah there’s a there should be a white rose but they’re big and they’re in flower yeah they’ve been hit a little bit by Frost but well I mean it is it’s at least we know it’s a white one now we can’t be surprised about the color later

And then these are the Cypress to give height around the Gazebo to give it a bit more height it’s it’s an exciting start to the day today because we’re coming out to plant around the Gazebo and oh here come the plants what a perfect winter morning sight with the

Winter sun in the background and Kirsty and Andy bringing the plants in so that we can plant around the Gazebo are these skinny little things yes even with the Nets off they’re going to be really narrow they’re like mini Christmas trees they look like green lelot tables don’t

Look at me like that Dave they do look like mini Christmas trees tree doesn’t not fit into a g if we find bubles on those and yet you brought eight of them know these are cypresses that’s a big difference MH mhm Christmas tree they’re junipers but junipers yeah yeah

Christmas tree you With Me Andy I think they look like Lancelot taals but green they’re really happy to see us the variety name is Skyrocket so that’s kind of oh how tall are they get 3 to 4 M nice yeah that’s a true larm site isn’t

It Cy on that tractor with well let’s face it Christmas trees wow it makes a difference already even at the height they are now yeah so this came from Chelsea last year yes so you must recogniz the year before last year before it was looking looking familiar

And the uh columns are old columns from India that they have shipped over and then they make into these EOS got beautiful pattern on haven’t they already they are I think that’s the difference the the one that was at Chelsea this year had slightly different columns yeah that’s it all the columns

Were a bit different yeah I’ve just only noticed the lights actually that’s going to look amazing when it’s planted up and L up at night all of this was done by Amor he is a genius so talented yeah and he was working with very different difficult gradients as you can see it’s much

Higher the ground on that side than on this side so he’s had to have these little slopes within it that was all designed by Davey yeah and I think was an absolute nightmare to do the designing it isn’t difficult building it yeah the building was a tricky fit it

Looks absolutely gorgeous and it’s about to look a lot better this is the moment we’ve been waiting for cuz we’ve seen it bear most of the year it’s going to look gorgeous it is instant Garden isn’t it it’s just incredible no this is the the Holly hedge that we had around the oh

That didn’t work well that most of it didn’t take yeah some of them are fine some of them them just didn’t look good so we’re we’re recycling them and they’re becoming a hedge round I have to say the ones that survived thickened up a lot they have do you remember how

Awful they looked when you first planted them that’s right I was really worried they’re way better than they were they’re nice and dense and they they they will what’s left will definitely form a good hge oh that’s good Andy you have got the kit look at those knee pads

So is that the way they do it in Chelsea yes and clean knee pads never you know you’re a at Chelsea if you’ve not got muddy knee pads H my knee pads are way sexier they flipflop when I walk they’re like that big I’m too sexy for my knee

Pads it’ll be overwhelming for people it’s okay number one this looks amazing number two I heard you planting squids we we’re planting squids this is arous no tentacles e aren’t they revolting yeah but they feel right for the weather don’t they the squid have come to the Garden it’s so

Moist they’ve got a nice tall flower Spike and they’re really pretty oh so it’s going to be fun to see I have no idea what they look like I’ll be honest I in a Remus I wouldn’t know it if it bit me Davey’s choice so actually it

Looks as though it could bite to be fair these are choicer these ones here oh yes I better remove the label before Davey sees it azte Pearl so covered in white flowers it’s going to be gorgeous and it’s going to smell nice they smell it’s called Mexican orange blossom so that

Should be really really nice so you’ve got going to have the scented roses they start off with like a pale pink exterior but that Fades and they’re like a warm white color and so is it alternating on the post Jasmine Rose Jasmine Rose all the way around yes the rose each other

And then the jasms over the doorways if you like the the pathway this is just stunning I can’t believe it jasms are the same ones you remember the first time we met at Chelsea yes and you came on that Garden we did these are the same

Jasmine we had as you walked on up that huge Arch I loved the scent scent as you walk through them the ground cover we’re using white vinker so perrywinkle isn’t it white perrywinkle they’ve got a tiny little white flow and they will just cover what’s left of the weed suppress

Basically that’s what we’re hoping for yes please yeah cuz I don’t really want my hands in this too often it’s it’s very sticky soil wow we’re having aliums here as well yes these are white aliums oh that’s gorgeous Mount Everest is the the variety and then we’ve got this

Kamasa Saka all right and have literally no idea what that is another big flower Spike it’s another pretty one and they are white on the order we’ve been gifted a 25 crocus called JEA that’s going to be nice Jan of Ark in the garden yeah and they’re white as well and they are

White yeah we’re going to plant them kind of on the interior of the circle because the Viewpoint is from the center looking out not not in are you looking forward to the spring cuz I’m it’s to the I know I know well a huge congratulations because this is the most

Beautiful transformation I can imagine Andy amazing it’s just like an instant Garden it’s just like it’s landed overnight it feels like that I’m surprised it feels like that to you two who’ve done all the hard work with Davey but to me it feels like an instant Garden it has happen really quick just

Mindblowing it’s amazing how planting actually doesn’t just enhance the the Gazebo structure but makes the whole scheme wider yeah makes the whole thing bigger and imagine when cypresses are taller as well and this is the final result please imagine great sunshine and the plants all in full bloom I am sorry

That it’s midwinter when I’m showing you this but I think what you can see is that we still have perfect structure in the garden even in the depths of winter with those slim cypresses going all the way around and echoing The Columns a beautiful hedge in cycling it all and in

The middle a apparently many wonderful plants that will burst into life in the spring and all framing Amor’s precise brick work and in the center we’ll find a beautiful table and chairs we actually have one that we bring out in the summer but I might get something made of stone

One day something a little more permanent that will stay outside and all the way around the edge we have Jasmine and white roses that will wrap around each column and meet in the middle creating a very very fragr canopy in summer and I’m doing my very best to

Imagine summer right now sipping a PS eating olives sitting here looking around at all of the daers in full bloom the leaves all out on the espol apple trees flanking the perala and Mommy strolling into the garden giving us all instructions and as you can see behind

Me you don’t have a clear sight line when you’re in the Gazebo to the door coming into the Garden or the door leading at the far end which I think is the way way most people would have put the Gazebo because Davey very cleverly Twisted it so that you enter the Gazebo

From the side you have to walk around to come in and therefore once the planting is more established and it’s more bushy around it it will feel less as though you’re sitting in the middle of the garden Corridor going all the way through the Walled Garden it’ll feel

More like an enclosed private space that you need to walk around to step into so there we have the laand Gazebo and I can’t wait for you all to see it in in the spring when it bursts into [Applause] Life
