  1. Tyres are #1 for me, as they make the most immediate difference to feel. I used to skimp on tyre quality, but now I only run the good stuff. Closely followed by disc brakes.

Bit of a mess of a video that just gets confused, match tyres to external rim width for max aero, that’s why pog has such a wide front tyre, that’ll be horrible aero on normal aero rims in the 28mm external rim width range. Sram bigger front ring? Yes so they can stay out of the friction maxing 10t cog.

  3. 4:07 FACTS: the guy at the back is Matthieu van Der Poel's grandfather. The guy he's trying to beat is Jacques Anquetil, first rider to win 5 TDFs! Later, Jacques's dominance was dethroned by an up and coming monster kid —>>> Eddy Merckx!

  4. I recently upgraded my tires from 23mm to 25mm and it’s made a world or difference. I’m on a 17 year old Felt with tight clearance. New bike soon. 🤞

  5. Is this a joke? Your title is "Tour de France Tech" but nothing here is new. Furthermore the people who can get their stem lower and push a larger chainring didn't wait for your video to discover it. What did you want to achieve?

  6. If your a keep cyclist you just have to look in the mirror,you are the engine so if your overweight or pushing on in age or fitness is lacking the most expensive bike in the world will make no difference.

  7. Stoooooooop – it’s the other way around really. More riders in the pro peloton are finding that they’re more powerful with knee over pedal spindle not 4-5cm behind the bb. This results in longer front ends and lower. Riders are actually in the same basic position just more forwards and lower.

  8. Yeah, we should all emulate pros…retired pros!!!! Go on any former pro who isn't connected with a brand…think domestique or 2-gen old guys/gals…they NEVER ride ANYTHING like this bikes. BikeRadar should focus on adjustable/swappable products, tires and saddles are still 100% in this category…slammed integrated cockpits are nearly the dumbest thing you could buy…#1. They are fragile #2. Totally not adjustable #3 they cost $$$$. Buy a bike from a shop that will likely allow you to swap a stem if you actually want to get lower 🙂

  9. I have a Giant hybrid with 38mm tires and decided to try some Continental GP5000 32mm. They definitely were more nimble, but sure could feel every little bump. Then installed some Fincci 38’s and wow what a difference. Felt like a Cadillac. Now I’m nervous about getting a full road bike because of the ride quality.
