Anyone experienced the seat tube on the trek madone SLR Gen 7 deforming when torqued to spec?

When the seatpost bolt is in the bottom position and torqued to 5nm, the seat tube deforms. A white mark is seen after a while on the left side of the seat tube , possibly indication of manufacturing tolerances not being met (left and right seat tube wall uneven thickness )

Have reached out to Trek on this but the response was disappointing, claims that it’s due to over tightening . When I asked my local dealer to tighten the bolt to spec in front of me, they declined 😅

I have since posted videos of myself tightening the seatpost bolt to spec with a torque wrench to trek and the seat tube deforming but there have been radio silence from trek since.

  1. You should push back on trek with this. The carbon deforming doesn’t sound safe to me

How old is the torque wrench and have you ever had it tested for accuracy/calibrated? It could be out of spec and you are over tightening it. I have seen where one is set to 5 but in reality the variance was so great that it was either way under or over. Its a possibility.
