I got the very rare chance of riding this climb while we were driving home from Croatia. Ade dared me to ride it to the summit, in typical autumn weather!

    A little about Ed….
Ed is an elite cyclist, 2019 British Hill Climb Champion and former Under 23 British RR Champion. He has raced as a Continental level Professional Rider in Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, Azerbaijan to name a few. He is also a public speaker, coach, and remains grounded with regular returns to his roots at Bynea Cycling Club. At the start of 2021, the Discord community began, and plonked many of Ed’s viewers in to a 550+ strong group of people that had many things in common. Not least wanting to explore the world and pedal their bikes faster!

Ed coaches lots of cyclists in the online community too! If you are interested, email [laverackcoaching@yahoo.com](mailto:laverackcoaching@yahoo.com) for information on the 1-2-1 coaching package and training plans, of which there are many!

Ed now prioritises having fun with my hard earned fitness and knowledge in the sport. Showcasing that maybe there is an alternative to racing for teams when you can race for yourself and your community of followers and brands. This YouTube channel is a docu-series highlighting what it’s like to be a cyclist in today’s competitive age of sport.

    1. Yep, I know where you're coming from with riding in the elements, I don't do it so much these days, too old!! When I used to run more, one of my favourite places was Brechfa forest, could run for hours and not see a soul, just me, the elements and some challenging terrain. 😎

    2. I once tried to cycle through the Mont Blanc tunnel. Needless to say I didn't get past the toll booth. Fabulous climb and as you say, the colours this time of year are fantastic.

    3. Couldn't agree more regarding climbing in the heat. I rode up alpe d'huez a couple of weeks before you went out this year, at 2pm, when it hit 45°c. Bordering on heat stroke. Give me a cooler temps for climbs any day

    4. Ed at 6:00 you're just painting a clear picture of Armstrong during a tdf recon ride where he couldn't go to the top of the mountain due to snow so he descended 10km and went back up in freezing cold temperature

    5. I am off to this area Whitsun 2023 and looking forward to the cooler temps as long as its not still snowing…..lol.
All my previous trips have been mid summer so the cooler temps should be a benefit like you say. We'll at least I hope so.

As for feeling – I just like big mountains. There is just something about them. So so different to our shorter, stabby, steep things. I feel at peace in them.

    6. Nice video – looked a beautiful scenic climb even with the mist. You always look so easy going uphill (no contorted face, flailing arms, etc Oh wait, that’s me🥵😂)

    7. Did it with full camping gear! And the Iséran! Nearly finished me off mind you. Nothing open for food or drink on the other side of the PSB. Desperate. Alcoholic hot chocolate on top of Iséran (far too late) saved me (and the fact it was all downhill from there). This is 15 years ago. I was obviously much younger then.

    8. Did La Rosiere to Pré and back in 2014 when I was holidaying in Annecy, first and so far the only time I have ridden a border crossing, not that there was much at the top to mark the event. And you're right, the world is full of experiences you may never get again but memories remain and looking up at Mont Blanc climbing the switchbacks from Pré will stay forever.

    9. That was fun to watch. I like that kind of weather. I'm curious, what do you carry in that handlebar bag? I see that you use it on a lot of your rides.
