Keswick to Threlkeld old railway line probably the best cycling trail there is

Morning guys uh back out on the road welcome to today’s video I’m just on my way to uh frel I think that’s how you pronounce it uh we going to do the uh is C Railway halfth line and uh Cy route we go to kazin and do a look around do

Water now few years back the uh Railway line has several Bridges and stuff near river and uh he uh he got destroyed in the uh storms around about 2017 I think it was and anyway a year ago they’ve just uh done it all up Rea it rein some tunnels

And it looks really good so I thought i’ give it a go today show you what it’s like uh I did have a few comments and people who were coming up to Kik and if a new any cycling route so I thought this one would be a good one if you are

Coming up this way so hopefully enjoy it sorry if it’s a bit windy uh I have got the cover on but it is a little bit windy this morning but I think that’s going to die down later once the sun gets up uh so stay Tuned Yeah so we got the beautiful blank AFA ahead beautiful mountain that skidar over there so heading that way good progress so using no assist at the minute got to see if I’m trying use it as little as possible so we’ll see how we go so guys I’m just

At the start of the uh Trail just starts well at Freel it starts at the py a66 there is a cycle path in the Freel so you don’t have to go on that road if you’re starting from Freel or you’re coming from KZ to Freel there’s two P’s obviously in Fr so you

Can just walk there you don’t have to go on the main road or cycle whichever way you want so there’s a path that’s the uh sign M of the wall and obviously a picture of the Old Railway line so yeah see it goes let’s give it a go a zigzag at the

Minute and down here yeah it looks really good this what I’ve seen of it so like I said even if you don’t to recycle it it’s a lovely walk and you’ve got the bonus of two pubs at the end of it and then walk back

At K can go in the pubs there if you want the first [Applause] Bridge it can get really busy on here so I’ve come really early it’s around I got up at uh half 5 this morning you know it’s around about half 7 now I

Think uh yeah cuz it gets really busy on here and uh Walkers I’m cyclist nice River down the side turn over another Bridge it is Absolut beautiful this path it’s the first time I’ve been down it and uh they’ve done a brilliant Brant job I’m getting it back up and running

Cuz it was an accessible after the storms and it’s big for the community of kzk a lot of people come and use this path so and obviously for cyclist it takes you off that busy a66 especially if you’re doing the C2C but stay tuned for that cuz I’ve got

Plans for that I’ve been planning it the routs and hopefully I can bring that and do that soon all it that is the first big long tunnel I don’t think it’s a better View yes guys like I say if you can like this video it does help me get the video out

There to more people so even if you don’t like it please just press that like button it takes 2 seconds for you to do and uh these are the views you get and if you haven’t already subscribe anyway guys just nearing the car now I just want to thank you all for watching

And uh if you can like the video comment give me a comment whatever you want to say any improvements any encouragement just keep it clean and uh hopefully see you on the next one and if you Haven subscribed Please Subscribe cuz it helps me out so I can build the channel better make

  1. I believe that is now part of the Sustrans C2C route, I did it 19 years ago, used the old railway line out of Whitehaven. But most of the rest was on roads, used to be a lovely cafe near Greystoke.

  2. I missed this, thought it was premiering next sunday, the 29th🙂Another great route to add to an increasing long list of good routes, love old railways and structures they sometimes hide/pass by 👍

  3. That is a marvelous rail trail route, love it. I am maybe up that way again Sunday for The Struggle Hill Climb (watching it not riding it) but if I get time I might pop down to ride this lovely route if all goes to plan.

  4. Fantastic looking ride is that. Thinking of doing the C2C maybe next year or so. I love these old railway lines that have been rejuvenated for cycling and walking. Same with the canal paths that have been tidied up to use 👌

  5. We have a lot of these in Spain. They call them Via Verde (Green Route) not usually surfaced but nice smooth gravel. Can run for 100s of km. Great for riding as grades only 1 or 2%.
