Tonight no see Ellie if you and I were together no no no but anyway if we were spending the even if we were spending the evening together tonight I would indulge you with a with a meal perhaps a take away you make me oh you’re not making me anything no nothing nothing

Not making you anything i’ phone up the just Theo the Uber Eats whatever it happens to be and get you anything you want well we could we in for spot of trouble I think not tonight not tonight Josephine I’ll tell you that um so there’s trouble there’s a strike Theo

Chumba is there breaking strike lines to tell us what it’s all about well Theo what’s the problem yes well this evening between 5 and 10:00 um thousands of delivery Riders will be taking strike action and this is being spearheaded by a delivery job UK a Grassroots organization which

Says the working conditions and pay Simply isn’t good enough in this country now today as you’ve been discussing is Valentine’s Day it’s the top three according to retail experts in terms of sales after Mother’s Day and Christmas day now I’ve been speaking to a delivery Rider uh in McDonald’s just a few

Moments ago he came to the UK from Sudan and he said he came here uh to to make a living but he says uh it simply isn’t good enough particularly uh as he works for just eat and um delivery as well and he showed me uh some of his rides and

The minimum pay that he gets uh which range from £280 and £445 and he says a particular issue that he’s concerned about is tips as well so for example when an order is placed he says the company takes around 80% of the total of what a customer has paid and

Then he’s only left with around2 40 to £480 depending on the delivery so this is something he says I simply can’t live with this kind of pay considering the living uh wage national living wage in London is around £142 so it’s considerably less than what he would be looking to earn but from

5:00 this evening those of you uh those couples who are looking to um particularly order food or presents which might be more convenient them to them as they’ll be at work during the day um they may have some issues when they’re looking to do that between 5 and

10:00 as thousands are set to strive in the city and across the country

    1. You decide to work for these food delivery firms, it’s a well known fact the pay isn’t consistent and is generally below the bar of minimum wage, they’re even marketed as a side hustle and not full time employment. This is nothing shy of entitlement, like a paper boy demanding 12.50 an hour. People will literally strike/protest over anything these days

    2. If the immigrants don’t like the pay and conditions, then find something else…preferably in another country! Yes, the likes of MCD’s and other huge companies WILL undoubtedly fleece the illegals, as they know they need the money and will most likely accept whatever they’re given. However, if the delivery people do leave the job ( which I doubt!) then let’s hope it has serious financial consequences for the fast food giants and customers either go somewhere else or actually decide to cook themselves 😮!

    3. Let them strike a lot arent working legally anyway!! Watched a driver pull out a wallet n it was bulging with notes so if he is working LEGALLY n has a family it gets topped up by benefits!! Ive yet to see a POOR UBER DRIVER!!

    4. Funny how this is happening after the home office rampt up searches for illegals working. It's like they're looking for an excuse to avoid the search.

    5. I’m striking. I’m a delivery worker and combat veteran. The wealthy say we poors have to fight their wars and deliver their pizzas but both these professions are the most dangerous jobs in the world.

    6. Why anyone would get food delivered by people that are either criminals or will put their hands all over your food is beyond me.
They can go on strike permanentely. Maybe then people will get the meals they ordered.

    7. The "Uber minions" thinking they have power and control is absolutely hilarious 😂

Most of them make up the thickest members of society.

    8. 😂Share holder Deliveroo so got damn Stingy FJB. Way too over underpaying Rider. nowaday. Really Insulting Rider😢 Foods so Expensive nowadays yet Deliveroo keep lower Rider Pay😮

    9. I solved it by picking up my own food, oh and there's nothing better than cooking yourself. Saves me money, saves invaders avoiding taxes too, Bonus.

    10. The majority of us coped before the days of fast food deliveries… and I still do. They aren't an essential service. If they win, the companies will just increase their delivery costs.

    11. Great news people like to try cooking for themselves . No wonder people are so obese eating g all the crap that’s delivered . Scrap the lot for ever . Do t like what you get paid go back home

    12. Common sense should tell you. You're self employed. You don't earn enough on one particular job, you make it up on another one or you go and work on PAYE. Where you can strike, which may make a difference. The courts already decided last year unanimously they don't have to give the same rights as a PAYE. I can smell common sense again.

    13. Uber eats is the worst paid. £3 for 3miles and don't include pickup miles. They are no longer transparent about earnings.

Just eat pay fair but they don't give you enough work always.

Can't answer for deliveroo. But imagine similar to JE.

You cannot make a NMW off of Uber on its own or Just eat on its own. If you do both you can almost make NMW. But you have to work morning, day and night.

    14. You soon find out who all the local alcoholics and coke heads are doing deliveries. Majority of them are women at home while their husband pays all the bills. Atleast drivers are out working.

The same people that demand equality through the likes of the rainbow shite dont want to see equal pay for gig workers because their nose is big nose.

    15. Anyone noticed the prices on theses delivery apps are already more expensive then the in shop prices and on just eat they charge you service charge like for what exactly???

    16. Funny thing is 90% of them arent supposed to be working here. Nor do they pay tax and they drain the economy by sending UK money back to countries like Brasil. Then they have the cheek to complain when they are comfortably getting over £12 a hour when in there countries its £3 a hour. Not to mention the fake documents they are using!
