Project peace in the world and and with me here is Ambassador Ria rampo from Greece uh she is a multi talented personality she’s a global educator she’s a stem instructor and also an international speaker from Greece so she is from the Ministry of Education Greece
So it’s nice to to have her in this place so you are welcome Ambassador rampo you are welcome thank you so much I’m very honored and very excited to inaugurate P talks the first episode and a very relevant uh and very urgent topic more than ever uh we
Got to discuss about peace education and uh all the mental health issues that the children are suffering from in war zones uh and many many other um components of P curriculum and uh all this um urgent crucial topic nowadays so if uh you allow me I will share my present presentation of course
At the end we will have an opportunity to discuss um every question um okay okay okay so uh this day we are going to be looking at the topic titled peace education mental health issues in Children of Children in war zones peace education mental health issues of
Children in war zones so we are going to use Ukraine as a case study so first of all I I would like us to know that that this movement this movement have come to stay and we are trying our possible best to project peace in the world so now we
Are going to start this section you know we’re going to start this this section I will advise everyone to just focus on the subject matter focus on what we are about to hear from um Ambassador she is really a a great person she really a great person full of
Experiences and it’s nice to have you here so Ambassador you have your time to talk to us tonight okay thank you thank you very much you know that conflicts and Wars around the world always bring misery to Mankind and wars and military conflicts of course result in profound uh economic
Loss loss of security uh loss of life that increase the tensity of course uh increase with the intensity and the length of War but uh the victims of war um experience not only loss of work as well as insecurities regarding um Access to Health Care care education uh shelter
Services school we all know schools have um the mission to make us better citizens and to increase their future earning potential um but uh while this is a dream for almost every student in pent I think that some situations make it hard to achieve uh these desired goals
Recently the world has witnessed the Russian invasion of Ukraine which started in February 2022 and triggered the most serious military conflict in Europe since 1945 um and uh according to un reports we’re talking about over 80 million people have sought refugees refuge in um in different countries and many have left conflict
Areas uh so what happens in general could say that a war zone envirment of course impacts the students education negatively this is because such uh war and conflicts come with lot of distractions such as demolition of schools displacement of families rendering them uh homeless or other refugees in another
Country Wars can have a devastating effect on adolescence especially education and you know that the Global Peace Index is the world leading measure of global peacefulness Global Peace Index has developed uh what we call positive Peace Index positive PE index measures the attitude institutions and structure that create and sustain peaceful
Societies all these um indexes have been negatively affected after the co pandemic and of course um uh due to the latest Wars between uh Russia and Ukraine and also Palestine uh and Israel so um Wars can have devastating effect know that um for instance in in Yemen one in five
Children are out of school school and at least 2 million syrians remain out of school uh any teachers in Yemen have not received regular salary since 2016 um and many adolescents are not able to continue their education due to recruitment by armed groups schools and other educational institutions often
Become the target of um armed groups because they represent the state or they do not comply we could say with iCal motivations uh and we have seen how in Syria for instance we have many attacks on schools uh where schools were used for military purposes
Um so uh and uh when uh students were are able to continue going to school even this in this case conflict has been found to have a negative impact on learning and over quality of education so armed conflict it’s actually um has a great impact on the immedate deterioration um of
Education uh in Rwanda you can see here a study show that um these children who had experienced genocide uh were 15 percentage point less likely to finish third and fourth grade and as we see later all these um children who have experienced conflict um uh tensions they are suffering from
Serious mental health disorders for years later and this of course influences their um academic performance uh these students will never be able to um to achieve normal academic performance like the other children uh and of course we talk about continuous disruption of Education this uh affects I said before the academic
Achievements uh decline educational achievement um um especially after many years of conflict so schooling has been uh disrupted of course recruitment said before to the arm forms uh distruction of school infrastructure um in ability to concentrate education uh due to trauma and stress um prolonged insecurity and
Enrollment rates of course this drops uh radically um because when students are not able to enroll education programs due to security fears H and of course um the conflict of course affects the quality uh of learning environment increases over crowding in the classroom um which sometimes correlates
Uh with a lower probability of passing final exams uh we talk about of course well-being which is worsening and um the negative effect of diet exposure um this um affects the psychological mechanism uh that we’re going to discuss about later so um we could say that there are
Negative impacts uh also we talk about teachers now the teachers quality uh the provisioning of educational activities because there are reduced um budgets u local regional federal government resources cannot provide enough resources um so um problems in terms of the supply side of educational system uh there are regions that
Um don’t get public funds um damad schools that are often need of repairs and displaced teachers need to be replaced um so um in this inability to attract quality uh teachers can have CA U great impact on the quality of education and the students academic
Achievements uh um and uh um here we can see that the negative impacts of War are not only limited uh to areas where violence is taking place because during for instance the war in Afghanistan the enrollment rat in areas um not affected by by violence they also decreased uh
People talk about girls girls um uh they had they experienced great threat so we talk about also gender uh differences if uh um we refer to uh the impact of War education G differences in the impact of conflict of adolesence are very very complicated and highly context
Dependent so of course boys are more likely to unlist it in our to arm groups uh so they cannot enroll uh and on the other hand women girls are those who are affected from um violence sexual harassment and they face also um serious problems um so we could say that KS
Education is more affected by conflict um and this uh is uh very important to take into consideration um because this shows gender differences in various to education um so both are more at risk of out uh but women are facing a lot of violence um so declining education
Quality a lack of support to tackle other resources in terms of school feeding no textbooks no teaching means uh all this related to with damage of War of decline education sector budgets um and I said before usually uh there are not enough schooling materials available ailable uh the infrastructure is damaged
Uh teacher supply uh is not taken from granted so this influences the teacher quality and there is a decrease of public uh funds so um you know that uh now they say that the children in Gaza for instance um according to Palestinian Health officials um this uh children are
Suffering from serious mental health disorder not only in palestin Gaza but also in Ukraine and I think in every uh context War context um why we talk about Gaza for instance uh this especially concerned for children in Gaza who were already struggling with significant mental health issues before the conflict
Because uh for years um numerous um Studies have documented High rates of mental behavioral health issues among gaza’s youth um and why because the cumulative they say that the cumulative trauma of chronic and political violence has a profound and lastic impact on children’s mental health and development
Um so um trauma we could say that in this case um has been passed down from one generation to the next so this children have no time for um what we could say cognitive emotional processing they have no time for selfhealing so the cycle continues um so uh we could say that
Living in a war zone for generations and for many years will affect you uh so violent up grings will lead of course to more violence um so we’re not talking about individual are living in um peaceful Health environments uh so when we steal Hope from this uh children we steal the
Livelihood their childhood what can we expect um so um children who um are suffering um War we could say that is one of the most potentially devastating events that the person can experience and this leads to a multitude of psychological emotional consequences um so um this uh they see that one this
Was one review that said that um among 8,000 children exposed to War uh almost half uh how to cope with depression with anxiety some during the conflict some after the conflict so experiencing AR conflict is associated with high levels of psychological behavioral conditions including including post-traumatic stress depression anxiety aggression
Risky Behavior but um uh effects go beyond this um for instance we can mention how children who had been exposed to bombing and combat in Germany during uh the the second world war were more than twice as likely to suffer from severe illness in their early 60s possibly result as over
Bured autonomic stress system um so um we could say that um all these um consequences of the world have to do with insecurity with aggression with psychosomatic symptoms um with long-term um uh har U would say that this last for years and um of course personality change um the um the
Exploitation uh the aggression uh children are becoming um more um more aggressive um so um all this self self blame also is something else that’s not something very important um so during the war they say that children face um two kinds of traumatic events the first ones is sudden traumatic event
And the second type is protactic exposure to Adverse Events and this usually results in Dysfunctional coping mechanism uh this is related from aned disorders I mentioned before dissociative disorders um behavioral disorders so these children become more aggressive associal they have violent criminal Behavior have alcohol and substance um abuse um so um
Uh for instance there are riew there are studies on children’s mental health in Afghanistan or balans in Cambodia in Lebanon and all these studies show that war trauma leads to long-term consequences for the soul of children the more prolonged to the conflict the more severe the symptoms um and um
Um this of course influences their relationship disrupted also family relationships due to LW separation of displacement um we’re talking about here children who have also deprivation of basic resources H and they become this desensitized to violence because violence is um something which is normalized uh in this case um so um I
Could see that here experts say that children should not be considered um only as the passive victims deprived of agency upon whom the violence has been enacted but rather as the active participants in the society that develop their own ways to cope and survive capable of choosing to resist or to
Participate in the armed conflict um of course there are children who who show um enormous resilience um which enables them to grow up into fully functioning uh individuals despite the traumas um but this is rare because if you have to deal with poverty with inappropriate housing with um domestic violence or discrimination
Isolation um all these resour um have to be addressed in the aftermath of the War uh so this shows the severity of um uh the situation um so the complexity of um the impact of War on children of adolescence their uh multifaceted multilayered we could say l
Experience um is reach by pic testimoni tonians for many studies of children who or teachers were working with these children what are the signs you know uh that we can see among children who are suffering uh for trauma they have trouble sleeping they have they have nightmares they don’t want to talk about
The they avoid talking uh it’s not easy to unlock these children to make them easily uh speak up um they not show interest in things that they used to enjoy they um avoid things that remind them of the events they have a big reactions yeah because of the
Stigma yes and they become aggressive uh um uh when I said before they this changes their personality um so there are signs when um um we if we work with this kind of of children um and uh what are some strategies in order to help children exposed to war first of
All um uh we need to uh explain that uh these reactions are normal helps uh need to help kids to know that their feelings their sadness their anger their confusion whatever they feeling are normal and understandably given that what they have been dealing with uh many children hide how they feeling because
They worry that they are the only ones who feel this way um so the first one is this uh to make them feel safe and secure for physical harm and to make them also to speak up uh second third is is another thing is to make them remember that the more
Than one person the family may be struggling um so consider having all members of a family who experienced a traumatic event include those who heard about the events from survivors to be assessed and be treated for the symptoms people who hear about an upsetting or shocking event can also have a traumatic
Response um and another thing is how to can teach ourself and our child about trauma reactions uh to help children learn trauma reminders cause their big feelings and they can help them understand that these feelings are a response to whatever bad thing happened in their life things that serve as
Reminders we could say or triggers can come from any um of our five senses that could be a side that could be someone was injured um that would be um or anything that remind us of the event the the the time it a bump um occurred the date of the calendar recognizing
Triggers and the respon produces can help a child feel less confused about what is happening and this can also add an increased sense of control and predictability to their lives so it’s important to help our child code with druma reaction to know Think Places situations that can trigger
Big reactions will help us uh us and our child for practice using um healthy coping strategies um and of course pra behaviors we want to see more of some children who have experienced trauma will react with negative behaviors for instance not listening to parents not following rules
Or behaving um poly towards others so over time time this can damage parent child relationship and the child’s relationship with others so it is important to dedicate a portion of each day to daily uh timing sessions so we should praise behaviors we want to see more that could be kindness would be
Managing of emotions will be cooperation and um um if a child is acting out aggressively we can make this priority and praise any opportunity we can when we see child be gentle with themselves or others uh help uh kids relax um very important um because when people
Experience a traumatic event a number of changings can happen to the brain and body uh children can feel constantly tense um brain start to overreact to things that um that they think that they’re dangerous um and even if this thing is not actually dangerous so we should help
The children come their bodies by slowing their breathing their tensing or relaxing different muscle groups or just by being active and doing something other than allowing their emotions to overwhelm them um parents and children of course can work together um in order to um uh to approach some things that
Remind them of the trauma that could be memories that can work on their memor of safe situations uh and um um this uh of of course we just forget about the professional help professional help is very important if it’s um if it is available and important thing is what we
Call coping mechanism what is coping mechanism coping mechanism is a strategy or a set of strategies that individuals uh used to um manage it could be um you want to to manage stress or anxiety another difficult emotion a copy mechanism can be conscious or unconscious way of dealing with emotional conflicts and
External um stressors um so that could be for instance um P Family Support one of the most powerful coping mechanism for children in war Tor areas is seeking emotional and physical support from PE and family this support network can provide a comfort zone that helps buffer the harsh realities of the world
Um children can find solers um in education because despite their um D circumstances children often find comfort in pursuing education schools and um informal learning spaces can offer assemblance of noral and routine and this provides an escape from the chaos outside so uh finding safety in education and consolation play Creative
Expression plays natural and vital part of childhood even in Conflict settings children often use play creative activities such as drawings or storytelling to express their feelings and experiences fostering resilience um another mechanism for children is um mindfulness and grounding technique some children may intuitively uh develop grounding techniques to cope
With anxiety uh that could be focusing on physical sensation or the rhythm of their breathing that could be um seeking to help them cope with their situations um seeking for help so um religious of course cultural practices religious beliefs can provide a framework for understanding and coping with adversity and these practices often
Confor a sense of purpose and connection to larger Community human positive thinking can be um a a crucial coping strategy um although it is difficult May children may train themselves to think positively or imagine a better future problem solving adaptability children often demonstrate high levels of problem solving
Skills um and this allows them allow them to to navigate and survive in the challenging environments and of course emo regulation because children may also Le ways to control and manage their emotions and this strategy could involve uh suppressing emotions during high stress situation or expressing them in a controlled manner when
Safe um so this coping um strategies are um very important and the need for support I mention before um the resilience of children in war zones is a um uh is something that should be um a priority uh and the focus should only not only be on Survival but
Also on the potential for a stable fulfilling life beyond the conflict um so another strategies that could be um remember how we can how we can help um um to cope with experiences or hearing about the war um sorry here uh remember the most important factor might be you protecting our child
From psychological harms of armed conflict by actually might feel impossible um so relationships with parents is important um and uh try to reduce our own stress first um parents affected by trauma also need support not just for their own mental heal but for the sake of their
Children be as nuring as possible uh caregivers of parents who have been exposed to warp are often less warm and harsher towards their children they have poorer emotional regulation they are even more likely to be physically abusive to their children um so seek out social support also um and um keep communicating because
Children need to know um that they can come to their caregivers with any question or concern uh be reassuring and age appropriate uh children develop their sense of safety from what happens around them and what they hear about don’t make promises that you can’t keep uh be realistic and be genuine uh
By saying for instance I will do everything I can so parent should not promise um safety um sometimes they say that we should turn overum because uh according to studies children for instance who witnessed the terrorist attacks on television had higher levels of post-traumatic stress than those who
Did not limit children’s social media also is another issue um help children feel in control the more children have a sense of agency the less likely they are to experience symptoms of trauma keep to routines um remember the power of helping is very important in ruce children to coping
Strategies even very small children can be taught strategies that can help them to cope with bit overwhelming emotions um work on um on emotions that very um important uh and it will talk in general about Solutions on uh many levels a restoration of um National education budget of course is important
In order to rebuild infrastructure equipment in order to recruit additional staff to invest in Outreach activities uh we need catch up programs for students whose academic year has been disrupted um and provide of course always Pathways for students who are dropped out investive psychological first a training for teaching staff and
School counselors and longer term it will be important to invest in peace building curricula in schools so that we can encourage no violent approaches to conflict um resolutions um so um many uh issues we know that can contribute to students dropping out from from school I mention before what is
Happening um of how how the role of parents I mentioned before would be in resilience education I I I gave some examples of coping some helping strategies how collaboration with teachers also is important in order to bring back the normal learning environment after a series of of wars
That would be good collaboration between teachers and parents how to take part also in school activities after Peri of War conflict most schools are left in B save so they need to repair and reate the schools to create a more conducive learning environment um
And uh we see that uh peace is not only the absence of War we talk about positive peace and negative Peace during the co pandemic we have seen there was big threat to International Peace and security the co pandemic we could say it’s was defining a global Health crisis
Of time uh the greatest challenge we have faced is the second world war it has been destructive and um of course um this has devastating social economic political effects that left deepen long-standing scars So Co pandemic all studies say that threatened peace building gains uh therefore commitment
To sustaining peace is now more agent than ever so the pandemic actually highlighted how interconnected fragile and um complex the global so economic system is because in a matter of weeks Global Travel trade systems collapsed social norms change radically um rights and Liberties which have been taken for
Granted such as for instance the freedom of movement and Association were revoked and social bot were reoriented um so it also became apparent that the world lacks an effective approach to deal with such cases so the the crisis and its impact through a human rights lens because peace has
Actually have to do with fundamental human rights we need to focus on how it’s affecting people on the ground particularly the most vulnerable Among Us what can be done about now in the long term um so um we have seen uh the thre about um we talk about unemployment food
In security a widespread closure of school has to Rapid education for more than one billion children reduction of care protection services for children this included um up closure of care institutions um so exploitation also and abuser for these children strategies for children who cannot could not contain the
Virus um and uh um also they had to face the misperceptions of local communities that they are infected by the covid pandemic and did not have um necessary access to uh Health Care uh so this uh uh affected more migrant children and Refugee children um many migrant displaced children not only
Co P but also we have seen World zones what is happening um many displac children face challenges um there are many unaccompanied also children have been forced to live on the streets in in unsanitary places many face the de r R of being detained by immigration authorities um Ander uh undocumented
Children who Liv countries they have fear to contact uh with um public authorities this was misinformation that I mentioned before about xenophobia discrimination that um uh about Micron displac children h of course all these barriers language barriers um the um misperceptions the the fake news actually about public health information and
Um apart from this uh there are new patterns of violence during also pmic domestic violence we have seen how it uh it increased self harm suicide uh uh how many uh the mental health disorders were increased during lockdown because social distancing how many uh people and children were suffering how C crime um
Rise dramatically how also uh drug traffi and other types of crime they said that the companies that have invested in protecting economic social rights are more likely to be resilient the countries that are more less likely to recover quickly from the pandemic are those with stronger performances in good
Relations with neighbors and what we call Sound business environment before the crisis um there are two factors that actually help countries uh in the post-pandemic P recovery the first one is high level of Positive Pie the second one um favorable economic conditions before the pandemic um and also uh here it’s an
Example to say that mov story was a campaign of UNESCO to provide a space for young people to share their views and initiatives their experiences um so this had to to actually the aim was to fight hate speech and disinformation here you can see some testimonials zon was a high
School stud from China explains misleading biased information conspiracy theories have resulted in hatred and racism and other student from China describes also the Chinese people as murderers um during the co pandemic so remember that positive and negative peace um are two types of Peace we talk
About positive peace um has to do with restoration of relationships the creation of social systems that serve the needs of the whole population and always relates to a constructive resolution of conflict negative piece refers to the absence of um violence um if want to promote the culture of
Peace there are six dimensions uh there are the cult culture of Peace uh has to do with personal family Integrity how human rights democracy has to do with how to eradicate poverty alling the cultural understanding solidarity um the sensation for of hostilities andent peace with the environment environmental peace
Environmental Protection is another big issue um the teaching learning process is first of all cognitive phase how to being aware the effective phas to being concerned to respond to value and finally the active phase to take practical action so all this um um we could say BAS values or uh the
Attitudes that peace education promotes have to do with self- respect with cooperation with compassion with openness with tolerance with justice social responsibility uh with positivity and if we talk about skills how to cultivate empathetic skills the group building um a decision making um how to uh cultivate imagination communication uh
Reflection um and on the other hand um if uh we talk about knowledge um this is related to a holistic concept of Peace human rights um and how to know about democracy and sustainable development according to UNESCO there are three kinds of Peace we talk about inner peace is peace with selfish self-consciousness
They say that P Li peace lies from within first um and uh social peace actually is uh how we learn to live all together um because human beings are social beings they cannot live in isolation um and peace with nature as I said before uh peace without environment
We have seen how we violate environment and um environmental peace now is urgent also because planet Earth uh is the crowle of human civilization uh so peace with nature implies stopping the violence uh against our environment um so uh concept actually peace education is um very uh it’s more
Effective and meaningful when it is imp party take into account the social and social of course the social and cultural context and when it take count uh the needs of of a country so the pie curriculum should be enriched by its cultural and spiritual values with the universal human values it should be
Globally relevant um and peace education can be defined of course in many ways uh it’s holistic it Embraces the physical emotional intellectual um and social growth of children it is based on philosophy that teaches love compassion trust cooperation uh for the Human family um uh for all life on on our planet
Uh so peace building peace education is actually skill skill building why because it helps uh children to find always non destructive and creative ways to settle conflict and to live in harmony with themselves with others and with the world so peace building is the task of every human being the challenge
Of every uh Human family um here you can see that um how in U uh if we want decorate P education the curriculum I think should be decorting the curriculum in all countries if it’s possibly in the preschool age um through an interdisciplinary approach here you can see that U it can
Be decorated with the cont of various subjects social studies or mathematics or language or Arts uh so that we can use um uh we can Implement um activities we can um uh show films or organize simulation Ro play we’re going to discuss about this later so all this P
Education have to do with how we build the peace in community how we respect the human dignity how we discover in peace um and the framework should be um um how to think positive to learn to live together to be a self resolve conflict not violently care for the
Planet H and be compassion I do not harm so um the objectives of any piece um uh curriculum this education curriculum should be to sensitize the community and organization with sources of violence um uh so to create in the learning the awareness the knowledge and sensitivity regarding issues that deal with War uh
Uh peace and Justice gender and race develop skills in critical thinking and problem solving develop um uh open-mindedness and vision environmental concern commitment to Justice um and here um PE values of UNESCO that it’s important to be your true self with critical thinking to resolve conflict not violently to build
Peace in community to care for the planet uh so there are many ways that um we can to create a p education into training programs um through Community campaigns through Club activities through presentation of international um collaborative project through games through films so it is crucial to invest
In psychological first day training for teaching staffs um and to invest in peace building curriculum uh so this way uh schools can um develop a more humanistic approach because um education plays um a crucial role in building defenses of Peace in the minds of people because it aims at
The total development of the child it tries to inculcate higher and social values in the mind of children uh so uh in this way schools can can improve the standard of quality of teaching and learning and facilitate socialization through participation in the active Cooperative learning activities they can help um healthy
Emotional development in students they can develop creativity both in students and teachers they can promote Noble ideas such as friendship and generosity and kindness so Educators government curriculum policy makers needed to incorporate uh peace education in all curriculum uh in the development of learning materal or teaching materal of
Lesson plans because this will make of course the subjects more meaningful and interesting to Learners in many ways it increases the quality of teaching as well as learning um what happens in Greece in Greece um we have a lot of refugees who are coming from only from war zones but in general
All the latest years uh we have to deal with this issue so um we uh have a lot of hlim sickness and refugees increase the majority of children of Youth uh more than 5,000 are accompanied minors and those who live on the Greek aan Islands are facing more um uh difficult
Problems so what are the problems that these children are um uh facing with um the first one is that um of course at the risk of dropping out um the berries the asum procedure the precarious living conditions interruped living woman restrictions in accessible remote learning medical examinations vaccinations and the challenges for the
New educational structure here in gree what how could be um the refugees concerns not only the Ukrainian uh children who are coming nowadays I’m going to present also the education action plan but this challenges concern all Refugee children uh who are coming in uh who try to to to to be the Great
Smoothly in the Greek educational system first of all perhaps I think the most de pressing uh issue um involves communication between teachers and Refugee children especially when very young children are in concerned knowledge of the English language should not be taken for granted this means communication problems uh means difficulties in transferring knowledge
Um a number remember that number of je children have not attended school for sever years some children have never attended School the there are no appropriate suitable books teaching material for augy children uh there is no possibility for full-time teaching stuff um another case it has to do with
Perception of communities there are Refugee parents who refuse to allow the children to attend school uh local communities are often misinformed about the refugee crisis um and refuge children of um over 50 years old to Fates are those in danger of finding themselves marginalized so what would be the
Recommendation uh for this uh not only in gree but uh for refugees I think in many countries nowadays most societies have become Multicultural uh so more or less uh teachers have to face with these kind of challenges Refuge parents first of all should be persuaded to allow children to participate in education
Whichever form it takes sociologist psychologist could would provide could prove useful uh perhaps to the operation of NGS um education should continue to contact regular monitoring evaluation white publicity campaign regarding Refugee health issues very important um segregation education system should be prevented and public health measures should uh be not
Discriminatory so um what could be tangible activities for promotive pie education specially the classroom first of all to create safe space safe space um children they can feel uh that they’re safe in order to discuss in order to open themselves to engage them in meaningful and genuine and authentic discussion activities organized
Intercultural activities that could be through Arts through cultures Traditions or different countries organized International collaborative programs for instance European programs programs Erasmus programs for children from um students from different countries or from uh from from schools within the same country can collaborate and connect each other and this way they can become
More open more tolerant H towards other cultures other Traditions uh simulate the role play for what we call conflict solution students will learn about how to solve conflicts negotiation activities um fake news Workshop it’s another good idea promote volunteers Service Learning and mediation activities um so um what would be the
Education action plan for um Ukrainian students there was a European task force with uh the aim to establish um to to help to to help Ukrainian students to be smoothly DEC created so we created a new digital platform this digital platform registered the request from the Ukraine education Community uh their needs for
Equipment training materials technical assistance and we set up a mechanism that addresses educational needs of Ukrainian refugees in cooperation with our other organizations and member states so um the same time we organized actions of The Institute of educational policy H we developed bilingual heart books with information how to register
In the Greek education system uh we developed guides um um and small dictionaries B legal dictionaries we organize Greek language learning programs intensive Greek language learning programs for these students to be de created in the recep classes um and uh of course there are intensive training for um teachers
Also teacher training programs uh we added extra modules from Intercultural education to support teachers working with children or Refugee migrant background um of of course we provided training courses for psychologist and social workers M lingual support guide me before um collaborated with UNICEF and um other non governmental organizations
Um and apart from this the ministry of labor Agriculture and tourism also they took the possibility of recording the needs of the Greek labor market for seasonal permanent staff um H and uh also I want to show here um uh also before before um showing my the
National projects I want to say that all these activities um uh it’s it’s crucial to integrate this education the curriculum um when when I started um my first Inter National project I didn’t have any Aid at all uh but you know I I wrote my first International project uh
When I was so why when I learned about students in Malawi there students in Malawi in Africa they didn’t have their areas in Pala they didn’t have clean water to drink which is uh uh considered something um very uh you know um uh for us um it is taken for granted um and
Um I designed this program uh um it’s called what lifegiver and threat uh try to integrate um some activities and help students um to be first of all motivated the impact of this project was great because we managed to obtain sanitation filter equipment uh from churches and um with six Wells were
Drilled in areas of my life which couldn’t how to fight 90 walk 90 minutes to find clean water to drink another project is food for thought it was Implement in India it inspired teachers who visited slams and educated families and donated the money another one about the co pandemic the another one is
Called gender based violence why is a much better option was inspired by gender High rates of gender based violence in Nigeria and another recent one I wrote in Greece uh environmental pieces called were changing the earth’s climate and it tries to uh highlight to sensitize teachers and students towards
This um Ed issue so thanks a lot for your attention and for any question I’m here to discuss okay all right is is a good time having you here we just have a question you know I I read through the comment you know in the section the questions
That we’ll be asking you but I think you you have already answered the questions here but I’m going to you know I’m going to divide the questions and it’s going to be an addiction like next Edition you will now give hint about it as a topic
And not just as a question can you hear me yes yes um we can have second addition about peace and sustain development goals how Wars impact for instance on um influ all sustainable goals first second third it’s another big issue and this includes also quality education so this topic can be
Extended um more into other aspects of sustainable development okay okay okay actually I want to ask H just just one question because we don’t have time again I want to ask question as regards to how can we help the young children with war related stress you know War
There is what war causes in the life of a child you know a life of a child that usually go to school you know always go to school but at a point in time due to war the person has this ability like someone that used to pay his school fees
That no it it will affect the finances so most of them are being stranded about academics what else to do so are there are there modalities that could give scholarships to these children like you know children that are in war zones not only in Ukraine there are some African
