Preparing for my biggest adventure yet, a week or so of workouts and organization before I flew out to Iceland!

you can find me on instagram at https://www.instagram.com/jennakoenig/?hl=en

We’re like halfway there excuse these glasses I thought they were cool when I bought them but all my friends said they’re silly so I’m leaving for my first ever cycling tour in about a week from today which means I’m kind of in chaotic prep mode I have

A lot to do this week this week is going to be a balance of training work working and all the prep that I still have to do before we leave I wasn’t working today but I only had like 2 and 1 half hours to spare so

I biked as far as I physically could in 2 and 1/2 hours and now I’m going to actually eat breakfast because I forgot now obviously nutrition is a very big part of training as an athlete now obviously nutrition is a very big part of training which is why I eat good So today I tried to finish most of my last minute shopping I got all the food I needed I got a bunch of little toiletries Iceland is obviously very expensive I’m also going to be wild camping so I want to bring as much food as I can because I’m not always going to

Have like a gas station or campsite to buy food at why I have a bunch of these Backpackers meals and then I got some granola bars I have one protein bar these instant mashed potatoes I have a ton of oatmeal some instant coffee some gels I have nuts peanuts candy and then

I’m going to figure out what supplements and vitamins I want to bring as well do we look fast or do we look Fast all right thank you thanks sorry thank you for your Time We’re on our way to ghost Lake which is about 75 km from where we live this is a nice you like my bike yeah I thought it’s going to be more like it’s not as heavy as it looks no um we’re like halfway there we got matching shirts we’re trespassing it’s say beware

Of dog just wanted Shade Crazy day we made it though oh should we jump in the lake you can scout if you want but yeah we can scout before we um set up the tent wow it’s really Smoky right now I congested congratulations you did it the leak’s just over there are you ready so tired

It’s not that bad it’s actually kind of nice it’s kind of nice a little boat I know we have to do that what Keep so I have to bring my bike into the shop tomorrow to get it packed up in a specific size box so that I can bring it on the plane to Iceland and I’m allowed to have my Panet on the bike while it’s in the box but I’m not allowed to have

Anything in the pys while it’s in the Box on the plane so tonight what I have to do is pack every single thing that I’m going to be bringing to Iceland on the bike to make sure it fits and that I can bike with it and then unpack it all

So I can bring the bike in to get it boxed up redundant but necessary for reference this is the list so here’s our rough plan for the continue Down Hi buddy come here oh are you the cutest are you the cutest guy ever I think so oh really I miss you okay I need to Pack look horrendous so basically the way I’m carrying my tent is that it’s going to be strapped onto the back of my rear rack like on top but when I was riding with it last time the tent bag was kind of like rubbing on my tire and so I needed

Something W and thin to stop my tent bag from sagging down to the tire does this make sense so I cut up the cardboard from my laptop box and I bought some what is this water sealant tape from the dollar store I don’t know if this is

Really going to work but I just needed something that was like cardboard but wouldn’t melt you know so I’m hoping it’s like tape for like when you have a leak in your faucet or something and I’m hoping that this will help keep water out of my cardboard so that it stays

Rigid and not flaccid I also spent a couple hours this morning packing my bags I bought essentially a throwaway suitcase I don’t want to have to throw it away but I bought like like a $15 suitcase off of Facebook Marketplace so that I can bring all my stuff to Iceland

But obviously I can’t bike with the suitcase so if I’m not able to store it anywhere it’s not going to be a big loss if I have to say goodbye to it you know should should be Good so I’ve managed to fit everything I’m bringing into one luggage case one carry-on one backpack and of course the bike box which is only allowed to have my bike and P in it and so when I get to Iceland I have to store unfortunately I have to rent basically a little storage

Unit or something that can fit the bike box in it kind of expensive but I’m going to need the bike box on the way back and I’m going to also see if I can fit these bags that I can’t bring on the bike into the bike box while it’s in

Storage so that I don’t have to buy new bags on the way home so this is the setup I’m heading to the airport tomorrow our flight’s at like 3:00 p.m. I’m actually flying with my friend Molly she was supposed to come biking with me the entire way but she decided that she

Ultimately wasn’t ready to do a bike trip so she’s kind of going to do her own thing she’s going to go hiking I think for the whole 3 weeks and I’m going to be biking and then we’re going to like try to meet up at some point I

Have a lot of stress acne right now I ended up squeezing in one last workout before we fly out tomorrow and it’s not even because I felt like I needed a workout but I just had so much anxious energy in my body that I needed to do

Something or else I wasn’t going to sleep like I’ve been running around all day and I probably should be tired but I’m not it’s just like purely anxiety right now so I’m squatting I got the Crocs I got the gym to myself and I’m trying to burn off all the Anxiety This is the loudest whole town was not wild wild so cute those horses just grazing Grazing In the sunset oh to be a horse in Iceland Grazing In the sunset with a bowl cut J

  1. I used to get stress acne too, but I managed to stop worrying about the little things so much and that helped a lot. I don't know why you're stressed about anything anyhow. You're going on a fun adventure and it's going to be great! 😁

  2. Great video! 🙌🏾
Did you manage to keep the bike box and your suitcase at the airport? They have some storage space that one can rent for few days to keep such items?

  3. ive been following you for a while and i just wanted to say how happy it makes me seeing you bloom and follow your hearts desires, ive also long wanted to get out on my bike and camp and this ressurgence from your channel is all inspiring, and the content i enjoy watching atm like bikepacking and wild camping. i saw a comment down below that your channel is just waiting to be picked up by the cycling community and i believe it too, all the nature and wild camping girlies are just the next click away from finding this channel. Your editing is beautiful and the way you talk to us, makes me and i'm sure others feel like we have been friends for years and its so direct and personal and it brings me a lot of comfort. I hope your travels are filled with awe and ease and i can't wait to see where you visit, good luck and take care!

  4. I really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing this for us! And I hope you are doing well! Working hard makes you stronger! That's what you are! And Never give up! Keep going because you are great! And you got my full support!

  5. Good luck biking in Iceland. I did that in 2019 and found it to be as much of a mental challenge as is a physical. The constant wind is either your best friend or your worst enemy. The views and geothermal features are awesome, I hope you have a safe and enjoyable adventure.

  6. A few recommendations:
-I have 2 foldable duffel bags that fold flat on top of the rear rack that can fit contents of my panniers and drybags. They can either be checked in or fit in carry-on.
-Minimize. Everyone ALWAYS overpacks on the first (second and third) bike tour.
-Consider 'pull on' sun sleeves or a thin long sleeve shirt/top, leggings (will double as a base layer when it gets cold) and a neckerchief bandana you can use as a face shield (wind/dust). Sun exposure can be harsh on skin (and telling in later years) and sunscreens have way too much chemicals not good for the environment.
-Usually, you can get a box from a local bike shop at your destination for the return, though cardboard recycling collection is making that more difficult.
Thanks for the Banff vid! Canada is beautiful but cycling along the shoulder with the noise and buffeting as heavy traffic and semi riggs fly by isn't!

  7. Eat as much carbs as you can fruits, noodles, rice etc….Also fill one water bottle with sugar water. Don't be afraid to put a lot of sugar mix in water.

  8. I like those glasses too for cycling, don't know about other activities, but cool for cycling. Please no more tattoos. I want to see your beautiful skin, more than your tattoos.

  9. Best on your trip. Don't mind Iceland , it is going through a continent renovation. Alot of rocking and a shaking going on in the form of micro quakes. The North American plate and the European plate slide down the middle of Iceland. Island building. Should be a great ride. Enjoy!

  10. Hey, Jenna Alexis. Your Iceland tour should be incredible – congrats on planning it all out!

Also, if your significant other hasn't already done so, have him get those spots on his back checked out by his MD and/or a preferably a dermatologist – I speak from personal experience.

  11. Very nice video and good luck to your adventure. Very surprised your choice of shoes. Those would kill my sole of foot (not sure that right term not natice in English so did use google translator ).
Is there reason you not using clip-in shoes and pedals ?
For me those make cycling much more comfortable.

  12. Looks like an amazing ride. Do you think this is one of the best places to ride in America, for scenic rides. It’s seems very nice but also lots of bike paths. I plan to go to America but limited time for bike ridding. One ride would be nice.

  13. Great job showing us all the preparation for your Iceland trip. I appreciate the transparency of how you let your audience know how you are feeling as you prepare. I found your channel when I watched your Iceland video. The part where you repaired the missing bolt/stripped threads with cord and tape helped remind me to pack some zip ties for the trip I'm leaving for tomorrow. I am traveling to Hawaii and cycling up Mauna Kea. I am starting at sea level and riding from the beach to the summit at 13,800 feet of elevation. It is just a one day ride, but watching others prepare for rides like your Iceland trip helps put me in the correct mindset. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

  14. Hey! I am planning to make the same journey with some friends in June/July and your videos have been a great source of information and inspiration. One question – which specific storage business did you use for storing the bike box? Would appreciate any leads as I am having a hard time finding a locker/unit large enough for bike boxes. Thanks!
