Bonjour a tous!

    Bon visionnage !

[Music] In this episode we take you with us to Indonesia and more precisely to the wild island of Sumatra after having spent 10 days of rest in Singapore we jump on the boat towards the first island Batam and then continue directly with Sumatra

Hello, we are in our second boat, it’s the boat from Batam to Dumai which is on the Sumatra side which lasts 8 hours, it’s not the worst conditions frankly it’s even luxury, we’re almost all alone Little traffic on our arrival

Indonesia the last big challenge of the trip especially concerning the timing crossing a multitude of volcanic islands each steeper than the other and with the uncertainty of the boats between the islands which depend on the weather all this in just 60 days the maximum duration

Of our visas with more than 4000 km and around 40000 m altitude difference we will have to make choices we will skip a few sections in order to have time for the next islands [Music] we are in Sumatra oh it is the first Indonesian island it is incredible it’s the end

Of the end of the world well we had to cross with a mix of hitchhiking and buses to arrive on the west side because we arrived on the east side from Singapore and there on the west side we got back on

The bike and we going to do the whole coast, well we are not really on the coast, we are in a valley a little parallel to the coast where there are lots of volcanoes and this is the first volcano that we see Merapani

Well I think that we think that it is not active because it seems to be very calm and we think that it is just clouds at the top we hope yes and there in slalom showing small villages we discover houses traditional rice fields, oh

Rice fields, it’s magnificent, let’s go for at least 2 weeks in Sumatra! [Music] once on the west coast of Sumatra we cycle through the traditional villages between the terraced tidal flats, the tea plantations and we see the first volcanoes we are undoubtedly the biggest attraction this corner of the world sees few

Tourists we n We didn’t meet any of them during our crossing of the island, we felt privileged during a climb at the end of the day, an adorable family invited us to spend the night at their home, a truly beautiful moment bye Tommy, where are you? We made a little joker to

Skip a huge climb of 1500 m, we are there in a skip… with our bikes! [Music] ah we are at an altitude of 1600 m ladies and gentlemen and we are to the west of Sumatra it’s finally a bit cooler, it looks like Bolivia with this lake, it’s magnificent

Yeah, almost like Lake TikiTaca so Roxy where are they tigers? there is one that is hidden in the jungle and apparently there is one right behind aaaaaaa so we stopped on the side of the road to make a little guacamole with a Malaysian coffee with the water the waterfall which is there [Music]

The west of sommatra is famous for these traditional houses called Rumah Gadang, these buildings are emblematic of the local culture and they have roofs in the shape of a buffalo horn which symbolizes power and prosperity ! Pedaling between these houses takes a moment of fascinating immersion in this [Music] culture [Music]

On the road we cross immense palm oil plantations which play a very important role in the Indonesian economy but which has an impact significant impact on the environment. For us, it is a perfect, quiet shelter to spend a [Music]

Night. You can’t see it very well just behind me and has the highest mountain, the highest volcano in Indonesia, Mount Kerinci, Mount Kerinci right up there with your head in the clouds which is at 3800 m which we are going to try to climb [Music] lets goooo Woah well as you can see it’s very hot and humid my hair it’s a disaster ah and there’s this beautiful sunset and we’re still going up to camp 2 Okay there it’s raining. So Tommy, the breath at 3000 m is okay? Tomy it’s okay it’s okay

At 3000 m in the jungle it’s the first time we’ve climbed a volcano and it is not the smallest Mount Kerinci peaking at 3805 m above sea level is the highest point of the Indonesian archipelago we are alone in the world with the crater which spews its smoke. Its simply spectacular.

It is the descent now… so how much elevation is there in total 2000 m down [Music] [Music] we go back down quickly with beautiful landscapes in our heads at noon we are back at the hotel, completely exhausted. conclusion it’s not the same muscles for cycling and hiking ;))

Finally we arrive at the historic town of Bengkulu, here there is an old Portuguese fort in poor condition but above all a host: couchfing with whom we discuss life in Indonesia [Music] we hope we won’t have any volcano erupting while we are cycling … In 2018

Or something… I forget It was a huge tsunami like that yeah we panic on the same time I’m talk to myself I don’t want to die now jadi i’m going to motorcycle with my mom and sister going to and back in there to make aa village to my friend

During two week but yeah we I’m talk to my friend myself We can die anytime , but hope not today… The life in Indonesia. Ring of fire. Indonesia is ring of fire… Come oooooh!!! last day in Sumatra soon it will be Java After more than two weeks on this big island, We take our 3rd boat in the very long series of boats there it is the boat from Sumatra in Java then 2 hours of boat ride to reach our second island well the tickets

Were complicated we couldn’t buy the tickets directly here we had to buy them online obviously so well what did we have done we tried to connect we didn’t succeed so it was the lady who did everything for us and we gave her money

That’s like the good old days come on there it’s the boat it’s left we’re going to try to find it ah it’s there!! We spend a total of 2 weeks on the island of Sumatra. It was incredible! We will only learn later on, that it was one of the quietest places in

    Indonesia… 🙂
