I left the tourist’s paradise, Italy and crossed the border to Slovenia, where I followed Soca Valley and Baca River to Austria. I wild camped next to Baca river the first night and a small town campground near Lake Bled. Since it was peak holiday season, the campground by the lake was fully booked. It only took two and a half days cycling in Slovenia to reach Austria. The weather in the Slovenian mountains was much cooler compared to Tuscany. Even though Soca Valley was stunning, the refreshing swim after a day’s ride in Baca River and Lake Bled, followed by cold beer, is what I still remember the most.

Amazing scenery! Must have pretty tough going uphill in that heat.
