    Chapters:

It’s Margaret Thatcher Auntie empty plenty all of them are empty you’ve got what’s going on in here grantham’s World War One Memorial Park that was a big church so it’s the Parish church of Saint Wolfram A good place is only to start is there any weather spoons quite a bit of memory about the war in this Grantham it’s obviously felt the house it’s just up the road and was used during the walk as a wartime hospital and the other famous person obviously probably the most

Famous person to come from Grantham Margaret Thatcher one of only two to date female prime ministers the first of two second being quite temporary and probably even more famous than that is this guy Sir Isaac Newton will come from we’ll start Manor he lived it he was

Born at just outside Grantham near cold sore and we’ve already done a video on that it’s in front of this quite impressive building I might add got the eyes at Newton shopping center it’s nice to see some of the shops reopening from covert because a lot shut down last time I was

Here through covert but yeah it’s nice to see it’s kind of rejuvenated a little bit so another local business Newton fellow well and the Isaac Newton Pub lots of uh lots of reference to exercise at Newton here we are coming into the marketplace all that the Market’s on today I don’t

Even know whether this is the other Market is a few pubs and my friend of mine here Gravity being one of them here around here the relations is one actually it’s taboos Probably what the name suggests I’ve been in there for a while the George Shopping Center all the shop in here that I used to supply Furniture to when I have one of my businesses manufacturing Furniture it’s not happening in here today [Applause] but I said about the town rejuvenating itself and take that

Of all the Adventure shops down here I want to renting all of them are empty there’s been what’s going on in here they’re worth probably those Bistro I’m sure that used to be a pub called The Market Cross it’s not a massive Town Center to be

Fair but what it has got is a Little Rabbit Run Like a maze so these phone shops available everywhere aren’t they just goes to show what’s what the mobile phones become now I remember retirement nobody had phones lots of things you find everywhere bookies taxis and hairdressers and a lot of these International shopping food shopping stores markets whatever there you go anyway

Into the Isaac Newton shopping center and that’s pretty much it for for the Town Center the main Town Center obviously there’s outside of that but it’s the funeral directors that handled my best mates funeral shout out to Robbie I think of you every day mate and go and have a look around

I think it’s Windham Park in sport grantham’s World War One Memorial Park Windham Park and uh got a Bowling Green here with some tea rooms over there children’s play park over there I’m not sure what that is in there let’s go and have a look this is the center

You can hire bikes but how big this park is pretty big to me though a water feature there tennis courts should the need take you I’m not sure what to do on here I think that is actually a bike shop I don’t know whether you can hire them

From there or not but it was definitely for sale yeah that’s a walk around here blindly really windy there’s a river running through here entirely sure whether it’s the river with him or not I know the river with them runs through here this just doesn’t look very big for the river with them To bridge in see what’s up here getting blown all over the place here boys and girls um but I’m gonna persevere I don’t know what the audio is going to be like quite sheltered here so it’s not too bad but when you get out in

The open why is it windy I’ve come to the realization I think this is just like weighs in I think I’ve actually passed the park itself So I think I’m gonna have to cut back on myself I haven’t gone too far to be fair but yeah because obviously I’ve exited with me Windham Park good job I didn’t go too far though look 33 miles Nottingham 14 and a half miles to sleaford so let’s

Get myself back on track somewhere I can always say the wind blew me off course can’t I in fact that’s that’s what it was I’ve got blown off course blown all over the option the wind Jesus wet anyway yeah I’m back at the visitor center and right next to the water feature I

Was looking at in between that and the bowling ring there’s the alleyway let’s go into the park Catherine always says hey I can’t see in front with nose oh well we’re here now we saw that but didn’t we Mrs Grantham on a very windy day so from what I can see

I don’t really know what this is looks like some sort of kiddies I don’t know but they think maybe I don’t know I don’t know what it is it’s like I could fill this up with water [Applause] Oh from the Rotary Club there you go then be all right in the summer to come down I’m assuming this uh this is the river with him up here crazy it’s like the river comes in there I don’t know what that is there a little drain may be shooting off

Some sort of overflow Maybe that comes around and around it’s flowing quite fast today about come down these steps it looks like they’ve made some sort of man-made deck almost Shore they would want to go on there yeah looking at this INF board it’s a recycled deck to help you but

Look how low the water is on that that’s uh clearly the rivers very high today yeah look at that it’s a nice bridge I gotta say I’m gonna add back up here because I think I saw something up here to have a look at so other than that it’s not really a lot

Else here it is a nice place to be but it’s not there’s quite a lot of road noise you’ve got the main road up there another road here it really is it’s next to both of them um and the wind in the trees today to be

Fair is probably drowning a lot of that out but yeah there’s a lot of road noise which is a shame it’s near an empty board here and opposite all right you’ve got this Memorial to the wall they look like what was public toilets at one point but

I think they’re closed now may be used to somewhat different you know what this is I think it’s been painted today but that really is it for Windham Park it’s an area where you could come and play ball games or have a picnic or something not totally sure whether there’s more to

This place you know let’s have a walk up here yeah there’s nothing up here just that little basketball courts concrete one like that I see another lymph board over here through this gate so let’s go and have a look over here what this is about so it’s a Heroes commemorative Orchard

It’s an orchard there you go then you can just see the Spire of the the church big church in Grantham and there’s a way out through these Gates and out into the road so I’m gonna have a wander through there and have a look around the church maybe

I’ve come full circle and it’s this bridge that looked at before that I’m gonna go out up and around it’s not a history to grant them it’s uh let’s do a big Market town but they sent A History Channel you know I’ll take you for a walk around

I don’t profess to be in any kind of knowledge on the place so what you see is what I see basically which is a nice Ferrari though split screen camper a lot of these old streets terrorist houses it’s a really old car here look what’s going on down here and close people

That is quite quite a high steeple that is this is going to be another fairly big church mouse National Trust I might have a poke around in there in a minute look out the family that was a big church oh wow I think we can get in up here just

Notice this coming in as well on this place oh for Storer astronomer mathematician went to school with Sir Isaac Newton there you go maybe it rubbed off look at the size of this it’s quite a tall spire yeah like a mini cathedral with gravestones huge yeah what’s this thing here so it’s the

Parish church of Saint Wolfram let’s go and check this little thing out here what’s this about so it’s in remembrance in grateful memory of the Grantham men who sacrificed their lives in the Great War which is the first war 1914 to 1919 whose names are inscribed on the Walls Within the church

Also in memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the Second World War Lance corporal Walter Parker Royal Marine light Infantry entirely sure why he got his name on there we will remember them all but sadly I’m afraid there’ll always be more it’s carving it’s a nice place really does look like mini

Miniature Cathedral yeah there we go that’s the font it’s on top of the font fancy font a little around here then somewhere for the kids to play balcony dark Grove it’s almost Church the shrine of Saint Paul from there you go shine it off let me all through that I don’t know

The Crypt so we walk down here then Yeah that’s it for Morgan There you go there’s a plan to visit they’ve got one of these at the stump as well Matchstick version of it they’ve got a Lego one as well Lego model of it in Boston yeah Boston stumps and Bottles people who pay Fortune for this now you know you can

Head out this way so we’ll have a little bumble around the outside see if we can give you some facts it is quite dark inside but these stained glass windows are quite dark as well these lovely old buildings around the outside As well come to give it really nice aesthetic all the old slate headstones look beautiful we’ve got some gargoyles and stuff it’s my little door but yeah these gargoyles and stuff amazing thinking these doors here one of them was probably the door up from the Crypt but yeah they’ve got all these

Goggles look like the Leaning off shouting holding the mouse open yeah there’s some windows right at the top but right at the top of the chapel entirely sure how you get up there was definitely no doors or Tower tours or anything like that yeah it’s not what it looks quite new this

Tower bit here this little Stapley bit what’s new I suppose you don’t keep these places and tips up condition without doing a bit of a bit of work to them I think that’s enough of the church that said Rand see how much time we got left see if I

Can get hold of cat another poodle around inside that National Trust grant for nails fortunately Grant from the house it’s closed native International trust members so we’re not going in there today well we’ll find this time of year a lot place is closed down to visitors

I think it was Cuts our blame them because you start going into the the monkey season if you like where the leaves are falling off the trees and you get all mud and stuff rainy season I don’t want us all traipsing through do they so we’ll give it give it a swerve

I think that’s it we’re gonna go back to the car walking back through Windham Park and uh yeah hope you enjoyed that little walk around Grantham I’m gonna head back pick Catherine up shout out to another Sam new subscriber all met in the church now watching the channel from Nottingham

    1. The old building near the church with Arthur Storer's blue plaque is the original King's School, named after after Edward 6th. That is the school that Isaac Newton went to, and a few years later, me.
