Welcome to Éire Rider Motorcycle Adventures my name is Ben,
In this video we will be looking at the 2023 Honda C125 Super Cub First look and Review
Firstly we will be looking at a quick look at the bike and finding out: what art and this bike have in common. I have also included some questions in the video which i hope you will participate in.
Check the chapters in the time line if you want to skip ahead. The Honda C125 Super Cub is priced at €4799 in Ireland. Check with your country dealer if you are outside of Ireland.
Here are some of the features of the Honda Super Cub –
Universal style
A subtle evolution of the classic clean and timeless Super Cub style. The Super Cub 125 is designed with one word in mind; universality. In other words, it has to be easy for a wide range of people to use. A key part of this ethos is the laid-forward ‘S-shaped silhouette’, which runs from the step-through space to rear mudguard, making access on and off easy.
LED
All lighting is contemporary and crisp LED while the instruments highlight the depth of the overall design with two lenses separated by dual chrome rings; the outer ring houses the sweep of the analogue speedometer’s needle plus warning lights, the inner an understated, digital display.
Pressed Steel
Parts of the Super Cub are made in pressed steel, in particular the rear guard is ultra-thin – and made of pressed steel rather than plastic – to help emphasize the classic ‘S-shape’ silhouette.
Comfortable
Easy to use, with comfortable riding position and smooth, stable handling. A key element of Super Cub from the first model is the ‘unit’ steering, which unifies the separate elements – forks, handlebars and leg shields – into one cohesive whole. The new model – with its forged, tapered handlebar wrapped in curvaceous moulded resin incorporating the switchgear and instruments – mirrors this motif.
Easy Grip
The grips are placed in a natural, easy to hold position and complement the straight-backed riding position, which gives excellent forward and all-round visibility.
High density comfort
Aiding comfort, the seat uses thicker, high-density urethane foam than previous models for enhanced comfort and is also cut back on both sides up front, helping ground reach.
Smart Key
A modern finishing touch is the Honda Smart Key; put it in a pocket and forget about it, the Super Cub C125 is live and good to go. And, with a nod to its forebears (and underlining its Honda history) a historical 3D ‘Old Wing’ logo crowns the Smart Key fob.
Immobiliser
The Smart Key also controls the immobiliser as an extra theft deterrent, and is equipped with an ‘answer back’ function whereby the indicators will ‘blink’ at the push of a button to make finding the vehicle easy in busy parking areas.
Balance and ease of use
To maintain its reassuring nature, but upgrade it for the 125cc specification, the Super Cub C125 started with the C110 tubular steel ‘backbone’ frame as a base. The rigidity balance has been tuned around the headstock and engine hangers, to optimise performance for the larger capacity engine while handlebars and seat are now rubber mounted. The footpegs also feature rubber inserts.

Welcome to air Rider my name is Ben today in this video we’re going to be taking a look at the c125 Honda Super Cub we’re also going to answer that question what a piece of art and the Super Cub have in common and I look forward to answering
That later in the video so be sure to stick around enjoy the video don’t forget to like comment and of course if you like this sort of video please subscribe to the channel looking at our first impression of the bike um they’ve definitely tied it up I
Like what they’ve done they’ve covered the front forks very nice you got the single disc it’s ABS as well which I think is great for a particular scooter of this size um they always had simple it
Was a very simple easy to ride motorcycle was the uh the Honda Cub they often said that you know even your mom could actually ride this bike uh back in the’ 60s and that’s exactly what what they could do because the the it was an automatic clutch it was simple twist and go
Jump on off you go U uh very straightforward uh no frills no fuss it was something that got a millions of people on the road it was a cheap form of Transport as well back then
And we can see it here they’ve kept that sort of simple design however you can see it’s got that retro modern look about it um as we look here you can see the the way they’ve covered the Plastics
The way they contoured everything you’ve got the mud guard on the front uh the telescopic Forks again that’s your your brake lever the LED indicators as we can see there your two seating positions obviously one for driver and pass you can get that changed if you like um they’ve got
This cover here on the exhaust very nice um and again just kind of straightforward like you can’t really get they can’t really over complicate these bikes I mean they’re just really easy simple to use that’s and that’s all you need I have a question for my viewers
Out there would you consider this design to be revolution or Evolution that is a question I’m not not going to answer which I’ll answer later on so put your comment down uh below if you if you’re at this point in the video you can check the time stamps let me know your
Answer is this bike an evolution or revolution in relation to its original something to always no from a design perspective is the the side fenders here something that has been on the original ever since and something that hasn’t changed on the motorcycle so it’s great to
See these side fenders sticking out and with proud Super Cub badge on it um and of course you’ve got the Honda in the middle there with the c125 but that’s something that design change on the Super Cub that will never change and it’s one of those designs that is
Carried through from the original the rear guard here on the bike is made out of steel normally you’d probably expect that to be made out of plastic but essentially that uh that particular silhouette has been designed to really bring out from the original so again it’s
One of those designs that hasn’t changed on the bike and again you can see it here in the new c125 let’s talk about some of the modern features that they’ve added to the actual bike so first of
All we’ve got our ABS uh ability um for the braking system we’ve got LED indicators as we can see here with the LED bulb and a daytime running lights likewise at the back they’ve have done the LED indicators and of course the LED rear lights as well another feature is this
Center display here and additionally there is a comfort key something you don’t generally see on this level of motorcycle so in order to activate I have the key in my pocket and you just simply push it there you turn it on and there we go we can see there uh as I was
Talking about the fuel gauge on the older bikes you can actually see it there tells you what gear you’re in and of course um your speed is there as well and the distance you’ve done and of course the time and then of course you’ve got your warning lights here so you’ve
Got immobilizer obviously if there’s an engine engine light uh your gear is currently neutral and of course your abs right let’s get the uh Honda started in order to do that you’ve got to press this in first so it recognizes the smart key turn the ignition on and then you’re starter
What makes the Super Cub so unique and so special in relation to other cheaper motorcycles that you’ll find out there first of all I suppose Honda quality Honda’s been making motorcycles for a very long time and all the newer bikes now that we have reviewed and obviously you’re welcome to check
Those out um the Honda quality just really comes through and with these particular new bikes now um You can definitely see it in relation to the materials that they use for their bikes they also are conscious about historical uh significance and I suppose with the Super Cub you know they’ve kept
The original going through the actual bike and I suppose there it comes to that question I hope you put your answer there um answer down below is it is this bike Revolution or is it Evolution and in relation to it it’s an evolution motorcycle because because they’ve kept the original look
Of the bike going through a series of um of designs and they haven’t deviated from it it’s like they’ve got the bare bones of the bike and they build everything else around it and that continues on through yeah sure they’ve refreshed the panels and the look but it’s what makes this
Bike so unique is there is nothing else like it out there right so we come to the question what does art and the Super Cub have in common well um in 1998 the Guggenheim Museum put a display on of
Motorcycles called The Art of the motorcycle and uh they displayed about 140 motorcycles now to to to get that amount of motorcycles they all had to form within a certain criteria so each bike represented there was either a um either displayed a technical um improvements social
Impact Aesthetics uh or obviously in relation to the design of the motorcycle so uh if it fell in within those um elements it was obviously on display some bikes uh performed obviously more than one of those elements so obviously the Honda I’d say probably more fell in relation
To uh its social impact because um during the 60s it just conquered the American Market with its small 50cc engine it was a c100 it came up with the slogan you meet the nest people nicest people on a Honda and literally that slogan was just Ram through the uh through through
America and the bike just became a sensation and extremely successful uh in the American market so much so much so it even worried the British manufacturers who were just too late to respond to the way the Japanese man um the manufactured how they manufactured uh the processes were put
In how their marketing was also put in place as well and uh a lot of people say that sort of spelled Doom for the British motorcycle Market was the um the Japanese um motorcycles reverberating through around the world in relation to the way they s these motorcycles so yeah the the um the
Bike’s on display there there was 114 of them we’re talking Indians Harley’s triumphs BMWs the R32 were all displayed there and this bike or the super CB the c100 was on display there with all
Those other iconic bikes so um you know when you when you’re buying a new bike you get that feeling that you get you’ve got some of that iconic value in the new bike and um it’s something that um I
Don’t think a lot of people people would forget the social impact of this bikee that it created you’ve got charity runs you’ve got people that that are grouped together in c90s c100s C uh C1
125s that go out in groups to go and uh take the bikes out like the significance of what how this bike impacted people it made uh traveling uh cheap they could afford the little bike it were easy to
Work on um there was so much about this bike that that made it extremely successful and uh again its design hasn’t changed much from its original and it’s no wonder that the bike is as successful as
It is today as it was back then fer Prim a Vera 125 would be the direct competitor to this to this bike in relation to its engine size it’s a it’s a 125 um it does however have a slightly
Bigger fuel tank at about 8 L per 100 sorry beg your pardon it does have a larger fuel tank uh which is 8 L however the fuel consumption is not as good as the as the Honda also both um struggle
With some storage however there is a luggage rack on the back of the Honda um underneath the rear seat there uh so another thing and a big thing to consider is when you’re buying one of the Honda
Super Cubs uh is dealer Network the dealer Network in Ireland is just fantastic you will not struggle if you’re having an issue with your Honda there’s a a motorcycle dealer like literally around the
Corner um versus Vesper um as far as I’m I’m only aware there’s only one in Dublin um so and again if I look at how many vespas I’ve seen on the road how many Hondas I’ve seen on the road it’s got to
Be the Honda right so now we’re on to the white elephant of pricing the Honda Super CB comes in at € 4,800 the uh vespa Prime Vera 125 comes in at 55,000 which is about €700 more um for
Obviously the Italian scooter um one thing though uh I think they’re having a bit of a special on at the moment they’ve got it reduced about 5295 still significantly more expensive uh than the
Honda Super Cub um is it as iconic you know does it have the the the social history of the Super Cub I don’t think so uh and again the display in the gugenheim museum certainly certainly says that
And like I said to you as well how much would you pay for a piece of art these days and considering that the original Super cup was in the museum um on display with 113 other motorcycles uh
For its social impact uh it made uh back then and um you know what is $4,800 to own a piece of History yes it may not be the original bike but it certainly has a lot of history and DNA
Built into it from its original bike so for me it’s the evolution from the old to the new and yet the design is still there so for your € 4,800 I don’t think that’s a that’s a lot of money for
Something like that it’s been displayed in an arm Museum it’s got social history it’s got iconic uh history it’s conquered World Markets um with its styling they’ve sold 26 a half million probably more now uh back in 1998 those were the Where were the sales back then um they had the slogan
You always meet um you always meet nice people on a Honda you know the the bikes have always been really super easy to to to get on and use functionality wise even your mom could ride them
You know that was it that is the bike um again I don’t know too much about about Vespa history but this bike I think as far as I’m concerned has very little competitors and for the money for € 44,800
I say that’s a bargain special thanks to Tadhg and his team here at moran’s Bike Shop behind me they’re a Honda dealer here in drumshanbo in County Leitrim in Ireland so if you’re looking for a new Honda well hopefully a Super Cub you never know definitely contact the guys here I’m
Sure they’ll be delighted to help you out I’ll leave the details in the description that brings the video to an end um I hope you really enjoyed it um something a bit different I thought I’d go
Through uh the bike itself then explain a bit of history about it and then we talk about the Guggenheim display um I really hope I um nailed it in relation to the production of the video please hit the like button let me know what you think down below hopefully you’ve answered some
Of the questions in relation to the video um apparently the the owner of this shop does have the c100 the original so could just could just be a new video uh at some point what do you think
Should should we have the c100 and the c125 next to each other and then we can compare directly from the original I think that might make a good video let me know down below if you’d like to see that

A neat runaround with extras. What's not to like.
It is cool. But not my cup of tea. Thanks brother. I would like to restore one of the old ones.

Yes let us see.
Yes the C125 is a work of motorcycle art, and a lot of fun too. The original cub was revolutionary – just the clutch was an engineering gem in itself. It incorporated a centrifugal clutch that connected around 2500 rpm, a normal manual disengage connected to the gear shift pedal, a centrifugal oil filter, and a slipper clutch all in one small package.
