Tonight marks the seventh round of the NXTGEN Racing Touring Car Championship (NXTCC) Season 5 as hosted on iRacing, powered by IMB Racewear!
Revitalised from festivities and New Year’s celebrations, in this round our drivers head to France for the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. Making its debut in the NXTCC, the 2.74 mile course is unique in that many of its 17 corners pay tribute to corner sequences from other international venues and are aptly named. Whether it be Estoril curve; the Adelaide hairpin; or the Imola chicane, these corners will undoubtedly be the site of thrilling on-track action as will the circuit’s own challenging corners such as the infamous Complexe du Lycée!
In the Overall Drivers’ Championship, with drop-scores now accounted for, Wojciech Swirydowicz has moved into the lead by five points over Daniel Martin. With the pair standing 36 points clear of the chasing pack as led by Jaroslaw Cebula, could we begin to see the title fight come down to the rivals? Or will one of their pursuers jump into the battle?
In the IMB Racewear PRO-AM Drivers’ Championship, holding a 62 point lead over Daniel Downing, Isaac Doble continues to lead with his combined pace and consistency proving difficult to rival. With four rounds remaining, can Doble score well tonight to begin securing the title? Or will his rivals find a way to blow the title fight wide open?

The left and into the right but as they come through and up towards the IM chicane well meanwhile we look to your race leader ladies and gentlemen and after what was a phenomenal start today with pole position and the win in race number one when it’s going to be a win
In race number three it’s Mikey do who takes check of flag for the last time today the double Zim racing the head of benjam mlki P2 William Guffy fish is behind in P3 and it’ll be Ben trer who makes it three Prime wins out of free
Today here in France for till be most and his first ever overall top five headed Gavin Gardner mck s o Daniel Martin Adam delont p8 and then it will be is at doble with second place in the prime class in a fantastic drive for double Sim R PA zachi J and Daniel
Downing in the end finishes third on the prime par it is Redemption for Downing as he found his way past Matthew Shon in the closing stages the azte racing driver in the end not quite on the podium but be a prime P4 p13 overall ahead of what was Jose doel and Matthew
Addy rounds off the overall top 15 with P5 in the prime cars we still got some more drivers to finish this race including Jamie Dory and then we’ll have one more driver in the form of CR tillston who is a way down the order if I believe that CR tierson right now
Making his way out of turn number 10 and here he is the 27 racing machine has been a difficult day today for the 34 driver but still all part of The Learning Experience we’re not quite sure what’s happened to Alex Meredith in fact we will try and get a story behind that
Very shortly ladies and gentlemen I think so did happen on lap number 11 to explain it some very late drama and well as C tillon makes his way to the Finish Line when we have a quick replay of what happened to Alex Meredith and this was at the time in oh
Goodness me and that was re SWAT coming across the road I do believe unless I’m mistaken and well we’ll have to try and take a look back at that a little bit later on in terms of what exactly happened but as tillon makes his way on through we definitely have had a nasty

Benal Trier P4 his first ever overall top five and with it his third win in the rad today to make it his fourth win in his proam career and what a day it’s been for the 504 driver head of Gavin Gardner number 11 driver P5 there for
Next Jing and keeping his top 10 championship hopes alive and invo chick Spirit P6 for simper racing Daniel Martin p7 for Rd simsport ahead of Adam Del for Sr nxg with a two drives exchanging a brilliant set of battles no doubt about it in the Hondas head of
Isaac dou for double Sim races second place finisher in the prime class there with the late Misfortune for Alex mer if it would seem and then PA an atachi at P10 there for Affinity best the P1 Jazz ca for simper racing ahead of that Daniel Downey your third place finisher
In the prime class in the end for Gold Wing Motorsport and what has definitely been a Topsy turby day today for the number 17 driver meanwhile Matthew Sheron P4 in the prime class p13 overall the azte racing driver fighting hard not quite able to bring home the podium but
Taking that P4 ahead of Joseph doble and then Matthew Addy your fifth place Prim finisher wrapp it up your top 15 overall for next G with Sam cases Andrew P p16 ahead of leh horn the top 20 being filled out by Ian manners Harley Bol and
Stephen Fry and Harley B and stepen Fry both deserve a special mention for JW Motorsport and p739 Motorsports respectively for what for them has been a strong day of race no doubt about it and then Alan McCain p21 ahead of Sanol with Alex meriff and Mark SES completing
Around of p24 heartbreak for both forol and Meredith in their respective races no question about it and then Jeremy Dory p25 in the difficulties after that contact with Reese wat Russell fer p26 had a CR till and finishing a lap down there rewat p28 and head of Dan mold
Duncan Moray p joski and Martin Shirley with all four drives there are time before the halfway point of the race and therefore be classified as non-finishers there were 32 starters and in the end 28 finishes with 27 them being on the lead lap but goodness me what a set of races
We have had today ladies and gentlemen and indeed this French circuit has absolutely delivered well racing may be over but of course we’re not quite over with regards to our broadcast for today because coming up in approximately 12 minutes time we’ll be back for our post round interviews with our volunteer

With inters of only pro drivers so we’re going to be hearing from only Prime drivers St of which two are on hand we’re B going to be hearing from Alex Meredith the Rd Sim sport driver who’s ever positive but definitely has had a few knocks today with a lot of
Misfortune and meanwhile at the other end of the spectrum we’re going to then be hearing from Ben ultria the full til Motorsport driver who picked up all fre wins today not just with Pace but also some fortune on his side and we’re going to be hearing about the contrasting
Fortunes without further Ado it giv me great preure to bring into the in room none other than Alex Meredith who does join me now good evening to you Alex looked as though it was tough out there no doubt about it and well I have to ask
How’s it felt today know you had a lot of pace but just luck refus to be on your side yeah honestly it’s it’s been quite a um I just don’t think how he looked uh just yeah difficult uh difficult races um the pace felt quite nice actually I was really struggling through
Practice but then eventually I got some good Pace but you know this stuff happens uh yeah just unlucky well indeed bad luck are going to see not just your mom and dad John and Catherine in the YouTube chat s about this Fortune but also to a number
Of other fans for yourself including K worry there in the YouTube chat saying that you deserved better than that this evening and I think we can all agree but sometimes that’s the way the racing goes but let’s talk about some more of the positives today starting with qualifying
A p19 overall P5 in class looked as though you’re making that alantra work for you in qualifying how did it feel taking on the circuit in the a magne COR for the first time to be honest well it felt pretty awful um um our new qualifying wasn’t
Going to be my strong point in this race um I just kept losing a lot of time um over a single lap there was a lot of traffic and um me and the Rd Sim sport guys we tried to um sort of form like have a formation but it’s sort of all
Unraveled and we only got a couple of actual clean laps and on the laps that I did do I just messed up so um yeah I mean P5 and pro isn’t bad but you know I’m always hungry for more like we always like like say it’s the racer Spirit you always want more
There’s no doubt about it and speaking of wanted more race number one saw you get entangled in quite a few battles early on and in the end finished P20 overall but still class P5 it’s nothing ventured nothing gained but I think you perhaps made a bit more out of race
Number one yeah I definitely could have had more um there are a few unfortunate incidents where I just I lost I think about five positions that happen from uh someone outbreaking themselves um so that was a bit annoying but you know it’s only race one um and I managed to
Recover a couple of those positions as well so um yeah I just sort of put my head down and went into race two with an open mind just trying to get um trying to get the car home really and just with regards the racing around here I mean
There’s a whole host of different Corners at magne cour many of them being Throwbacks to other circuits around the world it has been an evening s where we’ve seen overtakes attempted at pracy every corner did you find that you always had to be looking over your shoulder into each corner or potentially
Looking for the move into the next one I mean I wish I had like a prediction software to see uh where people were going to hit me but um yeah you did really have to keep looking in your mirrors um but to be honest it wasn’t
Too bad for most of the race um I had some really nice battles uh especially in race three um really enjoyed one uh one particularly I think it was in the final couple of laps um but yeah it was quite difficult to uh keep checking well indeed and with that going
Into race number two of course race number one with that P20 fish saw you start P20 and very quickly start to carve your way through the order and in the closing stages of the race it looked as though a potential win was coming if not just the podium and then it all went
Wrong yeah well to be honest the whole race I I felt like I had good Pace um I was just sort of managing managing the gaps um didn’t really want to get involved in front didn’t want to uh fall back behind I was just consistent managing everything managing tires
Um and then I just saw uh Daniel Downing uh off the track and I saw him rolling down and I assumed he was just going to stop on sort of near the Apex but they just continued and I just had no time to react so um yeah tried to limp it home
But um by that point I knew I wasn’t get going to get a good position cuz I think I was p15 at the time which was going to be P2 reverse grid um but uh yeah one piece of bad look wasn’t too bad I wasn’t too frustrated with that but uh
Yeah clearly worse was to come well one thing that can be said I think everyone cheed it at will agree with me you may not have had the luck on your side and we’ll talk more about it in race three shortly but the one thing you’ve definitely done today is made
More overtakes than anybody else on the grid by significant margin and race number three a p23 star and Midway through the race running and battling for just outside the top 10 a well I mean it doesn’t matter what gets thrown your way you seem to love just being right in the thick of
It yeah I mean this is why we all do it we all we all just love racing um close racing and that’s why we do the touring cars um wheel to wheel because they are one of the if not the most exciting motor sport uh to watch and and to race
Um so yeah absolutely loved race three uh I just found myself ascending the order really quickly avoiding incidents um doing some pretty nice moves if I say so myself um and then yeah I was just sort of managing the Gap behind um and um yeah I thought it was
Going to get on for an easy easy P9 but obviously not it wasn’t sadly to be and a little bit of contact which we can’t even contextualize but a bit of an instant at the shattered ear Corner between yourself and Away with ar once saw a
Charge to what could have been a P2 finish end in a bit of disarray but I have to ask of course reflecting on today the points haven’t you come your way but you definitely had most of the battles go your way and plenty of Joyful racing to come we still got three rounds
To go and well in a week’s time we head to see ring for the first time in the NXT CC’s history how you feeling for a visit to Florida well to be honest I think I’m just going to try and enjoy it um I think the championship’s pretty much out
The window for me now um because of uh just just this sort of thing um and other incidents that I’ve caused as well um so I’m just going to try and enjoy the rest of the season have some close battles and um yeah just look in a positive mindset and just move
On well one positive you can definitely take into next round is the fact that the provisional standing currently you’re sited in P5 and you’re still well withing grasp of what would be hunting down a potential top three come the end of the season versus the lik MAF and Sam
Smith so still plenty to play for Alex and I have to ask it’s a new year of course it’s 2024 any Sim racing resolution to this year um don’t hit Mark Mark syes I think him a few too many times for the last few seasons so uh yeah
That’s a good one but yeah uh just just keep practicing keep improving um yeah Ju Just Just yeah I don’t know just just keep going really well that’s absolutely fair and we love to see you keep on going and battling High throughout the season we just before we

Uh no honestly I didn’t I thought my Pace was going to be acceptable at best not as as good as it seemed to be in in race one and it it just seemed to go really well for me I qualified quite nicely I think for memory and it’s it’s
Just plain sailing from there in race one put me in a good position well it’s interesting you say that because qualifying itself we saw a phenomenal lap for you to take pole position in the Prime class P1 P6 overall I mean obviously we have to talk
About success b as a little bit of a factor mixing the field up but still to take pole by such a margin I mean you must enjoy the circuit and the Elantra uh sort of it’s a it’s a good track with one corner that I just don’t enjoy and
That’s the The Hairpin I think it’s turn three it I just couldn’t seem to to nail it reliably and if I got it right and then the rest of the track went smoothly it was a good lap if I if I just messed it
Up I was half a second off what I could have been oh goodness B we still with even in making those errors and whatnot with regards to the hairpin and to take the lap you did that is Testament to the speech we’re bringing here and in going
Into the first race of the day I have to ask what was your mentality because this is the first time this season at Bart when you picked out your first win in the prime class earlier on the season it’s the first time we’ve see you go from qualifying to race one with no
Major weight in the car and a lot of Pros around you who you might be able to be under certain circumstances depend on how dicey they’re feeling uh for the most part it was I knew I had a decent Gap to the first pro am behind me so any pro that tried to
Make a a move that was clearly going to slow me down I just left them to it and open the gap for them to get through and try and minimize my time loss so it was a bit of playing with The Gap that I had behind me without slowing myself down too
Much I see and in playing that Gap we did see as the race went on the gap between yourself and eventual second place finisher of what was oh excuse me Alan McCain Clos more and more and particularly in the late stages it looked as though you were trying to
Tactically keep Jamie Dury and Jose do between yourself and Alan was that the plan or was it just the way it worked out uh that was just the way it worked out I had a couple of Pros that wanted to play Silly games with me and and dive
Or defend unnecessarily I felt anyway um and it it dropped me back further than I would have liked to be but it it worked out okay and when I saw that uh Jamie got by Allen I was like ah yes some breathing room again I see and with the breathing room
Afforded to yourself and Alan in the m being forced to stay behind your rival pro drivers it was a first win in the bag and I do believe a bit of an ecstatic moment for yourself of the team uh yeah yeah I think um I think all
The team were quite uh supportive for that one actually theyve they’ve all been having a good chat about it in uh in the communications that we’ve got so it’s yeah quite uh quite a good uh good day for that and then going on to race number two of course reverse grid was
Only the top nine a reverse grid that then you would not be part of but we saw in the early stages of the race a bit of a difficult start for yourself and by the end of lap number one the best part of what was five places down on where you
Started uh yeah it was it was honestly I don’t recall quite what happened I feel like I just struggling with the weight I didn’t have a huge amount of of chance to to run practice in in the in the in the weight that I
Had B and it it was a bit of a surprise I was really struggling to to drive the car it felt like the car was driving me and it was just difficult and despite those struggles Ben I have to ask of course charging way up to P3 and then the final lap coming
Up towards 180 or turn at number nine as it’s known the race leaders had a nightmare at the corner the second place driver Alex M has made his way into Daniel Downing and in your there in the right place to pick up both places I mean just tell us for your reaction at
That scene um uh I had um one of my friends was in spotting for William and he called out that uh Daniel had crashed or Dan Rather had crashed and I completely missed that I even went by Alex so I thought I was in P2 it wasn’t until the end of the
Race that I was being told that I’ve I’ve finished in first again that I was like hang on did I what happened to Alex and uh we went back and had a look and just uh had some really bad luck poor guy oh indeed some Misfortune serly
Hitting both Daniel Dan and Alex meriff but in the end coming on through to take what was the second win in the row in today and then I have to ask was there a start a slight inkling or anything coming towards you to say you know what
If the reverse grid goes my way I can make it three wins out of three uh yes but I knew it was going to be tough because Sam Sam wasn’t like he he’s not slow and he’s going to have less weight than me if if at all any I don’t recall
Yeah he must have done he must have had P2 weight right um so he was going to have less weight than me and he’s starting in front I was going to I felt like I was going to struggle to keep up with him if I could keep up with him at
All and when uh when I got a chance to get by him and managed to make it work I then completely outbreak myself coming into the end of the lap and he got by again and at that point uh Jamie got by on the on the start finish straight I
Thought I’m just going to sit here and try and stay behind them and call it good and and then they had of coming together like a lap later which I feel like was commentator’s curse cuz the the friend that was spotting he said these two are going to come together and about
A second or two later they did and took each other out Oh indeed it was absolutely crazy moment in the race I mean just seeing yourself and Sam batting so hard at the front of the V with all the pros I think hesitating to try and get involved
Because how feier she were fighting and then for it to play out like that I mean very good tactical form call from yourself no doubt about it and from that point onwards you’re leading comfortably you’ve got a nice gap between yourself and the rest of the Prime field much
Like in races one and two and when was the call because it looked like for some moment you were trying to chase after an overall Podium but then I think a word was whispered in your ear just take it slow and bring home that third win in a
Row uh I I was mostly just trying to keep in front I was trying to I was I was pushing myself effectively trying to see how fast I can go and and try and stay in front but as I said for for race one if he’d have got close and tried to
Make a move I’d have let him by which I think is what I did for three of the guys anyway so I see a smart choice in the end and just gradually bring it on home and still to be fair it may not have been an overall Podium but it was your first
Overall top five a P4 overall and a third win in the rad today I mean you couldn’t ask for a better way to come into SIM race in 2024 surely yeah it’s a it’s a good start to the year and hopefully hopefully it’s uh it’s an indicator of what’s more to come

Fortune on his side no doubt about it but also a lot of pace St an intriguing how he’s talking about the fact that qualifying didn’t quite go right in terms of the comfort of the circuit and poly having to deal with Adela hairpin and fact he lost a couple attempts there
And trying to get it right but going in to the races race number one really a balance act between having to manage the pros around him and also keep enough breathing room to Alan McCain behind and then in races two and three for race number two the sudden arrival after
Fighting his way up to P3 of seeing the race leader and second place both in an instant right on the final lap and SOS right there breathing down his neck and more of that in race number three between himself and Sam only in the end
To take the lead when Sam ended up in the unfortunate incident coming on through the chicane as we do see Ben crossing the Finish Line there in the replay footage definitely an indication of potentially wants to come and there’s no question about it the full tilp Motorsport driver definitely delivering
On a major stage day and we if you can keep that up at Sebring even though it’s a circuit hasn’t run the touring car racing class machines around before and is a little bit concerned about how rough the circuit is with those Road surface changes if he can overcome that

The top and is that where he’s going to stay for the remainder of the Season Daniel Martin drops to P3 on 657 points but notice there it’s only 30 separate in the top three and now Mikey do definitely sandwiching himself right in amongst them J SAA stays P4 and 6 14
Points ahead up for Adam Delmont and then it’s down molding P6 with a difficult end to his racing today with zero points there for race number three after that unfortunate retirement it puts him on joint 56-2 of Benjamin mcasi but result countback goes the way of
