Messing and echoing so I’m sure it is I should have I have a new fancy lapel mic that’s Wireless I could have done that and used that for today so sorry about that guys so uh long story short here we’ll explain kind of what’s been going on the last couple weeks

Uh my oldest daughter ended up having to go to the hospital for about 4 days so it was uh hey what’s going on William how are you doing bud must be pretty nice in Arizona right now compared to the wonderful weather here in you know Illinois I know you were in Indiana

Originally but still so yeah uh my daughter was in the hospital for a short stint kind of put a damper on a lot of plans for videos and stuff and I was in the process of trying to put the brakes on this bike you can see that the front

Brake is just kind of dangling currently uh I thought I had the proper adapters and I guess I didn’t so I had to purchase the adapters and then the whole thing with Elsie happened so I didn’t get to like actually make the video like I was T attending and planning on doing

So very sorry for the laps in videos for about 3 weeks hopefully we can get back to doing what I try to do an intend on doing there’s a smudge on my glasses but besides that we’ll uh I’ll show you the fancy adapters I bought they’re

Ztto I usually do Shimano I’m sorry the zenos but I usually do Shimano but these are the ones I went with uh they’re just 20 mm adapters cuz that’s what I needed to be able to put these brakes on so uh my bad for not having them like I thought I

Did so oops on that we’ll uh wait just a little bit for some more people oh hey I didn’t realize it was it did come with some bolts that makes me happy I wasn’t sure if it was or wasn’t going to actually come with bolts to mount so

Good yeah these are pretty cool they’re like $8 if I recall on Amazon give or take some nice purple ones so these should fit on this front and the rear no problem cuz I got two of them and we should be able to put these bad boys on and uh

Hopefully be able to break cuz breaking as rich Mo would say the wonderful Rich Moore brakes only slow you down so why put them on correct but sometimes you need brakes so I kind of cheated a little bit I’ll actually there we go we’ll turn this so

Hopefully I’ll kind of be working a little backwards but hopefully you guys can see that a little bit better uh let me actually I’ll see in just a second on this hey what’s going on Colin how you doing bud so let’s see if we can oh gosh that’s pretty close according to

The to the uh wonderful picture that I’m seeing on the iPad so yeah this should work out pretty pretty good I think it’s got the nice little arrow showing you which ways to go up so yeah you’ll just put these on and does it have the spacers looks

Like it has the spacers as well so that’s pretty nice these are pretty self-explanatory they got little little bitty dabs of some blue Loctite I don’t know if you can see that or not but some little blue Loctite so that’ll help keep them in place which is good we got some

Heshers these are the nice little bits okay we’ll figure this out and if you do not notice either there is usually a long bolt and a shorter bolt okay obviously the longer bolt goes on The Wider SES so this side’s got more metal than that side so if you’ve not ever put

One of these adapters on now you know I wonder I can slip it in the spoke and go through where it needs to go there we go as it should go through like this right so yeah it’ll go on like this I’m going to have to definitely do some shortening holy

Get new rotors so I hav’t yet I was hoping to maybe get through I was hoping to get through a couple rides with this one originally before I do anything and I don’t see why I wouldn’t be able to and I mean honestly they should still have decent

Amount of life in them let’s see if we can put this silly thing on and get away with doing it this thing always gives me a headache I always drop the screw or something so we’ll see what happens here the screw is always so teeny tiny when

You take these off and you put them back on you definitely do not have to make these super super tight if you’ve never really messed with brakes before so just heads up just kind of put it back in and get it a little snug nothing crazy by

Any means oh gosh I say that and now the screw there we go I going back where it needs to go Mak it to work so I’ll mention this a couple times in the video and I’ll show you here in just a second once I get this little screw to bite and

Start threading like it needs to there we go so yeah I’ll uh here in a second I’ll show you what I was talking about but first there we go you can see that’s kind of hard to see but I actually have a little piece of like protective tape

Right here cuz I knew that’s where that brake cable would rub so I’ll snug this down a smidge and I’ll show you something really cool uh if you guys happen to have watched the live feed uh last week that I did with run bike mic and MTB Q&A you would have already seen

Actual brake lever that has the uh dropper post lever to slide into it so I don’t have to use a separate clamp for that so that’ll be nice whenever I get that all set back up again PMW dropper post lever cuz I love PMW and look I

Went back to the uh oil slick Vans ODI I love these I think they made some new ones I might have to try to find out for sure if I uh if I recall I was searching around a little bit on uh oh geez what was it on

Uh bikes online the polygon website and I saw that they may have some new ones so if that is the case I’m may have to jump on and grab them because I Loved These and these sold out really quick when I originally purchased them which

Was really sad but it is what it is at the end of the day but I remember I think I had two or three different sets of these actually when I bought these originally just because I liked them so much I pretty much just buy Vans ODI

Little bit sticking out pretty good but all right let me get my fancy little uh my little cheater and we’ll throw that on sometimes this thing works terrific other times it doesn’t usually it works pretty good but it’s a I don’t even remember what this is like honestly

Like I got it from Amazon a long time ago but it’s basically just a thin little little thin sheet of metal that goes on your your brake your rotor and then you feed it through and the way I do it or I’ve always done it that’s going the

Wrong way here we go the way I’ve always done it I set this tire on my my wheel somehow is I’ll put it in then I’ll just slowly feed it through there it goes and wait for it to pop out the top and then I’ll typically

Actually I’ll break it a couple times to try to make sure CU it’s loose right now I’ll break it or hold the brake and then I’ll slowly go from top to bottom just kind of snug it down while I’m holding pressure cuz I feel like while you’re holding the

Actual lever down it aligns it just a little bit better and don’t forget these bolts have that blue lock tight so you really don’t have to go super super tight with these and usually you’ll get away with a maybe slight disrup so that one’s rubing pretty bad

So and that’s what I meant I don’t know if my rotor’s actually a little old oh my rotor is old but it is what it is we have to get it adjusted a little bit and see what it does but how’s everyone doing tonight hope everyone’s doing

Adjust that later I’m not going to have you guys be stuck on me doing that I do want to show you one of my most favorite tools so what does it say a tpri tow PRI this thing is freaking remarkable when it comes to shortening actual brake cables I have

Absolutely love this thing I’m going to pin the wheel a little bit so it’ll stop moving on me so forgive me while I rotate this ever so slightly see if we get to doing that so it works pretty easily I’ll move the camera actually here in a second too so

It’s a little bit closer hopefully that looks okay sorry if it doesn’t look the best know it’s kind of dark back here but it does a couple different things with the actual with the that the wrong size with the actual brake itself but it’ll hold the cable and everything in

Place while you go to uh insert the Barb and everything I’m try not to lose too much oil from this aha cool yeah let me show you this so it does a super super clean cut so it has a oh my Razor shifted on me a little

Bit so it has a really nice razor so we’ll use it to cut real quick just to remove this old one I mean like a super super clean cut I love how clean that cut is so let’s go and size this a little bit we’ll see how much we need to take off

Uh I me since it’s the front it doesn’t really got to be super long I think that’ll be pretty good I’m going to take off a little bit here down to back here so we’ll let that dangle for a second don’t forget if you are doing

This to shorten a Brak hose you’re most likely going to lose a little bit of fluid so you might have to do a small or slight bleed so just a heads up here they are I say I KN I had some extras so you’ll need an extra Olive and

Barb if you’re doing this as well so we’ll take the Olive and the Barb out all right so you’ll want I’ll take it all off real quick so you got the protective kind of like sleeve that goes over it all I dropped a little the main bolt so

This and this is what kind of compresses it all together when you’re tightening it down I will typically take the Olive and just throw it on with that clean cut you can typically get away with putting it in a little bit there and that’s where this really cool

Tool comes into play so you actually loosen that so this actually inserts the bar my phone just ding sorry guys so we’ll tighten this all together hopefully you guys can see that okay so that screws in there’s a tiny little needle on this that actually goes into the Barb itself and you literally

Just tighten it down and just squeezes it all together and inserts it absolutely love how that works and you’re just trying to get the top of the bar pretty well flush with the hose itself you’re not trying to jam this in there so once it gets pretty well flush

Blush you can undo it but man it’s so nice it just holds it all in place and all together so there’s that little kind of like Barb holder right there you can see that razor right there yeah that screws come loose a little bit so the

Razor slid down so I have to tighten that down but makes absolutely super clean cuts and then that holds the actual hose in place which is just I mean it just works so nice yeah this thing was like 20 bucks if I recall is on Amazon absolutely a terrific

Tool for working on brakes all right so now you’re going to want to push your Olive kind of to the top get it just a little over so because whenever you insert this it’s going to kind of all compress whenever you start tightening it you

Want to make sure you get that seated in there pretty good so I’ll insert it all and kind of push in a little bit to hold pressure and then I’ll start to screw it in kind of get it fingertight once I get it a little bit fingertight then I’ll go back to

Grabbing my fancy little Park Tool wrench something really I wasn’t paying attention what the size it was something really funny okay that was the right size about these little wrenches which I’ll show you in just a second so and now now you’re this is where you start to

Compress that oh that’s not tight all together you’re not going in super super tight with this so see how my hose is starting to twist a little bit I’ll loosen it a bit once I had that and then kind of twist back and usually you can get it to

Where it’ll stop doing that on you CU you don’t want it to do that but once you get all this nice and tight I will take this cover back up and just like that so not too much work there so here much better length now not nearly as long as it

Was so good easy peasy makes me happy all right let’s put this back here so yeah these wrenches fun fact it’s funny how many people give me grief over the fact that I own these they say they were a waste of money and they say that they’re silly

To own and I can’t believe you spend the money on these I got these from walmart.com for like $2 a piece and like I understand that people see Park Tool and they’re like oh man park tools got to be super expensive Park Tool is not always super expensive sometimes you get

Lucky and you get deals like that so I don’t know it’s just people crack me up when they think they know everything and they’ll like just judge you and yell at you just because they can it’s like I don’t understand understand how some people just like will I think there’s

Justification in the fact to give someone a hard time because they think something else is expensive or not but it’s just it’s funny to me that that’s how some people are so yeah I’ll show you that real quick yeah I never it must be a must be a two see

Here check this out see that little screw right there just backed itself out a little bit so I guess we’ll back them both out of smidge and we’ll kind of see we get that blade to push down looks like it’s where it needs to be we’ll see if that blade gets touch oh

Yeah it’s touching it’s touching the blade so I’m guessing those screws don’t like have any locktite or anything on them that’s the first one I’ve ever had that so interesting hopefully that’ll be okay now though make it just a little snug yeah if you guys work on brakes and you ever

Have to like cut your hydraulic hoses or anything this tool is absolutely terrific I can’t believe how many times I’ve used this tool and like just been impressed with it all right let’s do the I guess we’ll put the rear brake on now I’ll have to size the rear brake as well

Cuz I’m not 100% sure what bike this was on for Kio we’ll try to have to move some stuff around W also fun fact sadly this front tire is not holding air so we’ll have to figure that out also I don’t know if you guys have seen

The build the build video or not for this yet but I’m in the process of making this a single speed is is what it’s going to be so I was working on this and I thought this would be the right spacer adapter and it it’s not it’s just it’s not right

So I was hoping to make it work it was not not working so that’s where that’s why I got the second adapter I’ll set this up here so I can read it while I’m working yeah this one should be pretty easy swap as well but I won’t be able to

Break this one or use the brakes on this one because he sent it to me on attached I’m guessing he had it on a bike that was a like a had the hoses in it are internally routed bike where mine is externally routed so I’m just going to let all that drop I

Don’t need any of it because the new one has it but I knew this wasn’t the right adapter to use but I just kind of wanted to try it and see what it did and it definitely was not right which I was aware of so after we get these brakes on this

Bike the only thing I believe I have left to do is get a crank set and we should be able to finish it hey what’s up Colin oh yeah Colin you got a good point in my opinion like if it works it works so and that’s the other thing though too

I mean no matter what you buy and what tool you’re using if it works for you terrific and that’s I mean everyone’s going to have different experiences you can read reviews and stuff all you want but sadly the truth is sometimes lemons happen and you just have to be realistic

About it I mean it sucks when it happens and it happens to you and I don’t want that to happen to you but sometimes it happens and I not trying to be negative but you know it it it it’s one of those things so same thing nice purple one again

These are pretty cool I really like these a lot and they’re about half the price of the other ones so but you can see it says the f f180 on there so but no it fit the front one perfect so we’re good there we’ll put this one

Ecentric absolutely trail bike with 203 mm front aggressive yes in fact a very aggressive hard tail it is technically in the category of Hardcore hard tail which is a 65° head head angle up front there’s like weird parameters to be considered a hardcore hard tail there’s

Like people who like argue over like it being a just a hardcore hard tail or like the actual definition of a hardcore hard tail it’s like a subcategory I like you kind of like have cross country bikes and you know trail bikes and now andero bikes and downhill bikes but I

Guess this is technically a a little subcategory of hard tail so it’s a hardcore hard tail but there are people who ride hard Tales hardcore and there are people who own hardcore hard tailes so I used to be part of a group on Facebook that was Hardcore hard tales

And it was one for like the specific diameters or like specifications of a actual hardcore hard tail and like there were always these arguments of people like yelling at each other like well I ride my bar hardcore so it’s a hardcore hard tail it was always really funny

No I do work for we have an ARF division so I do work on the actual uh the the airport truck at our little we have a tiny airport so like nothing super big but legally they have to have some form of apparatus out there that’s that can

Now we’re just kind of working on it and trying to get it all set up I was showing off this tool a little bit ago I’ll show it off again and uh this is the tool I use for like sizing up my hydraulic hoses and everything and it is just so just so

Nice say about 20 bucks give or take on a no Amazon so let’s try a size this honestly I mean that should be pretty stinking close as well I’m taking chunks off this Kio what size bike did these come off of I’m guessing it was internally routed

But man this is so yeah check this look at that such a clean cut and I’m dripping oil everywhere that’s okay though I’ll do a bleed on them anyhow but I mean I don’t know how good you can actually see that but that is such a clean

Cut it makes the installation of the new Barb super easy uh speaking of the new Barb where’ I put it I had it a second ago I’ll show you up here there are they’re up on my little kit enjoy the cold weather yeah this cold weather is miserable man I uh it’s

Like I don’t even know 10 degrees today the wind chills terrible that’s why I’ve had the heater on all day in here and it was finally starting to warm up but of course I have the heater off now for the live feed itself so whenever you go to

Do this make sure you put these things back on you got your little your little cover actually here let me want to lose a little bit more it’s fine let me scoop for this up a little bit forther further closer so you guys can see a little bit

Better there we go awesome so here try this again so what I’ll typically do is I’ll slide this cover back on oh where’s my bolt bolt with the threads up on you can just kind of set those back and forget them I’ll also go and put the olive on

So I’ll put the olive on and throw it down there now I take this fancy tool it’ll unscrew this part this is kind of like the Barb Pusher this is the hose holder the hose clamp and you’re going to squeeze oh kind of hard to do this onehanded I guess I’m using two

Hands but you’ll put that in there and then you’ll take this back a little bit and it’s might be hard to see on that little camera or this camera but there’s actually a tiny needle on the top of this that will hold the Barb itself actually we have to scoop the

Hose back a little bit there we go so we’ll put It’s probably hard to see but yeah so that just literally holds the Barb and you go to screw this in and it just puts it all together nice and while you’re tightening this all up you’re just putting that barb the the

End of the Barb to make it flush with your hose so you’re not trying to tighten this down in there super super hard just kind of making it flush and oh I I’m doing I’m opening that and boom easy peasy so now what I do is I’ll take the

Olive and push it up to the top push it all together grab my oh where is it the cover in the bolt now and start hand and I’m I’m kind of pushing the hose in to keep it in place as I’m tightening this by hand to start with

There we go and then I will grab my little wrench again and we’ll start to throw it all together and we’ll kind of tighten this down you’re uh not hammering this little bolt in fun fact you’re just trying to make it decently snug whenever you like it’s getting pretty tight I would

Stop I kind of I’m holding the hose to keep from turning a little bit asz once it gets too tight the grab the hose itself will start to twist it as well but you’re just trying to compress all this together that Olive will squish down and kind of make an airtight seal

With the Barb itself but I fun fact I have actually tightened one of these down too much and stripped out the inside of my brake lever body so that can be done so be really careful with that and don’t do that well heck scooter back she got brakes easy

Cog set just in the rear I bought that when I built up my evil faction dirt jumper which fun fact real quick I will end up riding my evil faction next weekend which is the weekend of the 21st because I’m going to Rays so if you are

Single speed chain I mean it’s just a chain so very very heavy I was very excited about these I forgot I had these but I actually just had someone comment on the video for these these pedals have seen some things holy cow I had these pedals but since I had before this bike

I think I originally got these pedals with my Canyon strive which was actually before I started the YouTube channel so I had like when I first got into mountain biking a little history of Mr Cindy my very first bike was a GT aggressor Pro and that’s kind of got me into Budget

Called like the shadow technology but I don’t remember if it was XT or SL I think it was deor it was deor Shadow so this been like four or five years ago probably five years ago because I think I’m getting ready to start my sixth

Season writing but I uh so my very first bike I ever owned yeah nice Phantom I think the GG aggressive Pro is a terrific beginner bike uh I wish GT would switch it up a little bit I wish that they would start it with like a one

Buy or something because I mean you get the three by crank up front and it’s just a little excessive and it’s heavy and you have the square I mean it’s it is what it is by 34th season that’s awesome John I’m hoping to make it that

Far but uh I think a one by on it would really make a big difference just in the sense of like beginner friendliness and like I don’t know like whenever I look at a Walmart bike nowadays like I’m not necessarily trying to be harsh when I look at mountain bikes that are at

Walmart but like I look at it from like the eyes of like someone who a wants to potentially upgrade it because a lot of people that are buying Walmart bikes are most likely going to go straight to Youtube and start watching hey how do I upgrade this specific mountain bike how

Do I upgrade this specific mountain bike it’s not just like you know best budget mountain bikes because once they do that they notice oh man I’m way over my head and this Walmart bike is like a 20th the price of some of these expensive mountain bikes which if you guys watch

Any of my channels or any of the stuff on my channel you know I go from budget all the way to decently expensive I mean I have a titanium bike frame that was $2,000 just for the bike frame and I’m not saying that to be like hey look at

Me I’m just saying that because I think it’s fair to be able to say hey I’ve rode budget bikes but I’ve also ridden high-end bikes so like I can give you more of an honest opinion as opposed to just only riding budget bikes and being like hey this is the best budget bike

I’ve ever ridden where I now have real world experience to be able to give you more honest opinions of like hey this budget bike is actually pretty good it’s like comparatively so but I guess that might be justification for spending the money also but I’m fortunate enough to

Be able to afford that so you know I I do it and I you know I I ride the bike pretty hard as well and binary the maniac I have is a terrific bike and and the the owners of the company have reached out a couple times have been

Very nice to me and are very very friendly people so I’m I’m very happy to support them but uh I I do believe that like when you’re looking at Walmart bikes there’s now an obvious difference between like hey this is a really good bike to start with to potentially

Upgrade or hey this is a budget bike that like if you’re going to buy this is for like Mom and Dad to ride around town and not to really take on like any kind of Trail so you know there’s it’s like a really weird line so like you compare it

To like the GT aggressor Pro where in my opinion is a terrific bike for taking on the trails but when you give it to a brand new bike rider you have 21 gears to figure out between like the seven maybe it’s an eight speed in the R I

Think it’s a seven and three up front but like if for some reason the bike’s not shifting now they have to learn how to shift you know mess with a rear derailer and a front derer so like giving someone a on by eight just to start with is just so much more

Simplistic in my opinion because you’re trying to teach them how to shift up front and in the rear and to meet like the proper you know like ranges to keep the chain line happy in compar you know in comparison with each other and it’s just difficult and it’s like it’s it’s

Almost overwhelming in a sense when you first start so you get something like a Schwin a some more like the k where you’re like oh I need to go you know in a higher gear just cuz this you know I’m going to climb or I need to go faster so

I need to go to a smaller Cog so it just kind of depends like I guess how you’re looking at it but there there’s been a pretty big shift in my opinion and and what kind of bike you can get for the price so it’s kind of interesting there

I’m like 99% sure blaired is still a straight steer I would love for them to go to a taper but that would require of course a whole new like molding system however they make it and I’m pretty sure they just paint them different colors every year but they’ve come out with

Some really cool colors now but uh Ozark Trail so here’s the deal and I’m not a super big YouTube channel and like I would love to do an Ozark Trail video but when I was doing the Kint travel video giveaway it was wild how many people would like reach

And I don’t know if it just needs more sealant because there’s a hole somewhere or not but I’ll figure it out and honestly worst case there I’ll just tube it and call it because the rear is actually tubed so the front’s tubeless the rear is tubed my bud took it

That so this is actually the oval ring I purchased for the build so it’s kind of funny that you say five Dev but what’s funny is I bought this off of a bud in St Louis area for a really good deal but it is set up technically for Shram it’s

Set up for Shram Dove so I might just have to go with that but I do I could do some swapping because i’ I’ve actually wanted to try five Dev cranks so like I could put the five Dev cranks on my binary Maniac because it actually has a

Dub crank set and I could put that dub crank set on this bike because 165 GX cranks yeah so I’ve seen some pretty decent deals on the five devs but yeah I mean like what’s the cheapest like $250 $300 for a crank set I mean it’s pretty wild

But on a positive note typically when you buy a crank set you’re going to put it on and it’s just kind of good to go like unless you break the crank set I don’t know what kind of warranty five dev has that’d be interesting to look into but like chain rings and stuff

You’ll switch out and swap out so whatever but like some parts that are a little bit longer lasting such as crank sets and stuff typically I’m a little okay with spending extra on but yeah I uh I I think the GX cranks are so hard to beat like pricewise for like GX
