This is a video of our 16-day Bicycle tour across the highlands of north Greece before dropping down the west coast of Turkey. Covering 1,380km / 855 miles.
You will get a feel for the sights and sounds we cycled through. The food we ate, where sometimes we had very limited choices.
We stayed at a mixture of wild camping spots, campsites and hotels.
Our bikes are full touring bikes with BRAE Panniers and drybags.

I’m just arrived in Corfu for the start of our next adventure we’re heading over to Greece uh Mainland Greece tonight and we’re going to cyle from there almost 89 kilometers today it was tough tough day the first part was lovely probably just flowing and then it there was a big climb and then we dropped down and then it just was up for our loads of the day with 15 16 1% ramps um and it was 30° its Peak We’re now on a on a track for about 10 or 12K we’re not actually sure and H the weather’s looking decidedly uh Wet it was 2,000 M of climbing but the temperature was was okay today so but about 25 30k of that almost half actually was on gravel so that made it quite difficult I was up pill on Gravel how you feeling today than it it’s okay didn’t get any breakfast we’ll find something about 60k but yeah nice Nice Hill that bit of a bad root choice we did have an option not to take this and we thought no no we’ll just take it we’ll take a stick to the route today started off really well it was lots of climbing up and down felt like going through the Alps actually and then

Dropped down for about 20K 25k um but we came into a headwind as we came into the plateau and um I was pretty heavy going for the rest of the day so we pushed on and we did 130k Well in the distance there you can see a climb a road working its way up just over here that’s where we’ve come up with it’s about that point there’s probably about 1,200 M So today was very hilly to start with and it was cold only 6° um and we climbed up 12K climb and then descended 30k and then went across the flat lands um or to get reach the coast which was a bit minorous and uh and then we ended up

With 30k gravel along the along the coast E So this is the end of D5 um shorter day today about 80k mostly um mostly a big hill really steep like really 16 17% climb for about 3K it was brutal um but once we got out the town it was just rolling and downhill actually quite

A lot of it so we just turned up at the campsite made some other bik tutors today uh from Netherlands and they’ve come from the top of Europe they’re going they’re here and they’re going to South Africa so that’s a big old Trip we’ve been passing olives for days um now and H you can see them on the trees here um the question is are the green or the black olives that’s a trick question for you There this is the end of day six um just coming to cavala and we booted a hotel last night um cuz we wanted to go into the town have a look around some famous arches aqueducts and Stuff Here we are at the end of day s uh we just arrived at a camp spot uh campsite which is you can see we got the tent up it’s just SE is just over over there um it was pretty easy ride we thought it was going to be about 55k and it turned

Up being more like 75k okay what’s that you’ve got there like a rocky road Greek Rocky Road not quite as tasty as a rocky but it’s good keep enjoying breakfast at Campsite what you got there a m bit of fish B it’s Huge today’s the end of day eight we’re uh count at the end of a beach you can see probably in the background there tent there it’s a lovely Beach um really nobody here absolutely deserted had a bit of a catastrophe this morning just after we left the campsite um I was

Checking my Dynamo if my Dynamo was working and I stopped and then started writing again and was looking at it and K had stopped to take a photograph and I ran right in the back of her um so we ripped her or I ripped her

Uh left pan right off it FS um so we after a bit of a panic we uh we settled down and we figured out how we could reattach the fittings to the pan here by creating new holes through the plastic and rebolting it back on the roads have been nice um dead smooth

Mostly along the beaches and and Coastlines so here we are we’re just over there’s the gree turkey border so we’re about to cross that into Turkey okay what have you got there I have no idea when we came into turkey we realized just how different the roads are quite a lot worse uh the side roads are gravel mostly so we’ve had to sit and replan our route quite a lot tonight and it feels quite different being here

Uh in Turkey than it does uh in Greece um much more Asian and and its Feel Oh We took a shorter route today we didn’t we didn’t go over the mountain well we still went over the mountains but we didn’t take the tracks that we were going to take it was going to be 140k to get to where we are now which is kala kale I think it’s pronounced The right today was pretty good um it was the first three quarters of it was really pretty either mountains or in lovely um mountain towns and then dropping down to the seaside and we’ve come along the side of the the coast for probably 35 more than that 45

Km uh and it’s it’s beautiful We’ve both got dodgy stomachs Kate actually had one the night before last um I don’t know how she did yesterday on her dodgy stomach but somehow she managed it was only 76k today but it was all in your headwind bumped in another couple of bik Tours they cycle from France to

Here I describe what we’ve just come through K truck Central and dust massive petrol chemical plant ship imp ports lots of tracks but the truck drivers were nice Okay about Turkish tea I’ve just had a taste of it and it just tastes like British tea with no milk in it this is Turkish coffee and it’s in a very small espresso style cup but as you can you can see it’s filled to the brim and

It’s very strong and it has a lot of sediment at the Bottom end of day 13 what a tough day that was so we both still got recovering from Bad stomachs but um it’s 90k we were doing and we thought it was relatively flat turned out to have a almost 1,100 M so 3 and half th000 ft of climbing um it was

Just it was just brutally hard with the headwind the wholeway couldn’t even do downhill pedling 2 4K an Hour Okay we found our Rhythm here we do we’ve actually found some simple easy Food Well here we are 15th day last day we did 8K just under 8K um to get down to ismir saw flamingos and Pelicans in this Nature Reserve I spoke to a bike shop owner today who’s going to give us some bite boxes Tomorrow
