Today i visited Collingham Newark and Fardon to take a look at the floods from the River Trent and also had a birds eye view from my drone, to see how devastating the flooding is being cursed by the floods and all the people who are affected who houses are under water, and will take months to get back to normal.

Hi everybody so welcome back to the channel So today we’re in a little village called collingham so yeah it’s just off the river TR as you can see check out all the floods that’s here today uh there’s actually a mark on the wall what says 2,000 so I’ve just had a

Look it’s about that far off uh the height of the river the flood in 2000 but I’ve been told I’ve been talking to the guys the rescue guys today and it’s actually going to get higher so it looks like it’s actually going to beat that record but along the wall there’s

Actually a few more uh notices where it’s actually been higher I’ll show them in a in a in a minute and just show you the years uh ago how high the uh the river actually used to rise so yeah check it all out uh a couple of days ago

I actually drove down here now you can’t get down it at all so yeah the firemen are here rescuing all the people as well uh pumping all the housers out they got a bit of electricity off as well in a few places but what I’m going to do I’m

Going to show you a bit of this at cing go I’m going to work my way to Newark I might even go to gunthorp and work my way down the Trent as well so yeah join me on this little Adventure checking out these devastating floods that’s happening in Nottingham Shire at the

Moment coming off the riv Tren and it’s going to get worse I’m afraid yeah so you can see the signs up further down the road stopping people coming down I say this is Trent Lane takes down to the river Trent as you can see there it’s all the way up down past

There past the church and just up the little slope there but uh I just talking to you about the uh the floods that actually was here uh I think that says 1795 so 1795 this guy was just talk about global warming you know is it global war being in that them years and

Then we’ve got another one up here as well that’s 1875 believe it or not in October but I’m just going to see if I can get around here without getting me well it’s too wet there there’s another one there 1875 and the 2000 one is actually just

There so you can’t actually see the 2000 it’s underwater but you can see the mark there so you will see how far it goes up I might come back a little bit later on tonight and see how far it does actually come but yeah this is the devastating

Floods I mean there is houses actually down that lane and uh I bet they’re actually flooded out now the fire brigade are actually here and they’ve actually got the boats as well so they’ve been helping them but I just hope everybody’s uh safe and all the animals are safe as Well So you go everybody this is the floods 2024 in January Believe It or Not uh as you can see yeah still coming up so when I earlier on when I first got down here uh the water was quite Fairway back and it’s actually coming forward a little

Bit more now so been talking to the rescue guys and they actually did say it’s going to get a lot higher so yeah I’m going to make my way to Newark now and have a check out see what newark’s like and uh I might come back later and

See how far it does actually come up right so I’ve tried to get into the middle of New York Town Center but it’s near nearly impossible uh they’ve actually clearing the traveler site down Tony Lane moving them all to the back of the car park that’s actually where the

Council building is so it’s actually gridlocked in the middle of new at the moment cuz they’re trying to rush people out there I’m sorry for the noise but this is the only place I could find to actually do any the bit of little bit of

Video I don’t know you can just see me behind me but this is where the Traveler’s site is you could just see it through there but a lot of them have had to move there’s a few still there but I’ve just come past the council car park and it’s

Absolutely full of uh touring Caravans and all the Vans and stuff right I’m just going to take you up in the air just to show you how bad Newark is at the moment so you can see the sugar be Factory in the distance and everywhere is just covered in

Water absolutely crazy a’t it e so it’s just like one Big C so yeah the the Trent has well and truly burst its blank Banks the a46 there I say and this is new lot see the Marine that’s all covered in in water water and then we’ve got Tony Lane

Here it’s actually uh a lot of the Caravans have actually moved Out so the last time it was really really bad was the year 2000 so we’re in 2024 and it’s January and uh it was only just before Christmas when we actually had the floods before so I did actually do a little video before on all the floods what was to outside newk

Castle but you can see newk there a lot of houses as well have been evacuated on the the side of the river Trent but as you can see all the ground all the car pars are Park it’s just full of dirty water so as far as you can see there you

Go all the locks all uh covered in water as well so yeah the Lots completely disappeared so I’ll just zoom in on the uh on the castle there so look at the castle there and the bridge so I have tried to get down there but it’s absolutely gridlock

Today I just pan you around so just showing you all the park and everywhere as well so just little bit further as well that’s the uh the lorri park that’s actually full of water there’s actually Lor’s trying to park up in there and then you’ve got the sugar beat Factory All Surrounded in

Water but yeah just take a look at this the a46 and Kellum Road once again is absolutely flooded and then we’ve got the Rugby Club and the cricket ground as Well Right so we’re in fondon and just check out the Riverside Pub so there actually a car still left in the car part look so it’s not very good at the moment in the car you just see the river through there as well what I’ll do I’ll zoom in a

Little bit and show you the river flowing really fast some people think it’s actually going down a little bit uh I’ve been told by the environment agency it’s actually coming up so I don’t know if it’s going to C come up any further here or not but this guy he does all the

Cycle routs around newk and where how far did you go I do quite a lot but today every Ro got blocked up with water yeah so he’s been blocked off with water and he’s been taking photos of everywhere he’s he’s been where he can’t go so yeah he’s had to go different way

So your name isan Ian so this is Ian new from Newark yeah so this is fonden and this is the Riverside so there you go this is fondon 2024 ah crazy is it he so uh I tried to get to the middle of newk but it’s gridlock absolutely gridlock new is I’m

Going to make my way back there see if I can actually get any closer towards the castle but uh the traffic you can’t get down foring Road that’s actually flooded as well so you have to go around the Ring Road to actually get into Newark

And I like I say the travel s’s being all evacuated off Tony Lane and uh the roads are actually all blocked down there gridlock so but I’m going to try and make my way down there anyway so yeah let’s go to the next place right so

I’ve managed to get to into Newark so I’ve actually came down Orton Lane uh from fonden and it is underwater but you can actually get through there uh where they’re actually building the new Ring Road it is actually flooded all the way through there but it’s not too deep

Doesn’t go as high as your tires but hopefully it won’t go H higher than that but so where I am now I’m at milgate at the side of the Trent so yeah I’m just going to show you the Trent where the wear is and everything so and then I’m

Going to work my way down towards the castle so this is actually where the wear is at Newar so yeah we’ got newk wear here complet completely gone you see the rivers running so fast just through the back there just see them all up down Tony Lane just trying

To get all the vehicles and all the the Caravans out there as well so they’re uh they’re having a bad time there but just look how fast the water’s flowing under here so you can just see you found a marina or ner Marina just straight in front of

Us there but I bet these people are panicking a little bit here at these houses it’s not going to come any higher yeah so people are saying they think it’s actually uh the water’s starting to go down but no way is it it’s actually getting higher I can tell

Myself how Heights actually going to what I saw it was like earlier just just hopefully these guys here won’t get flooded and they all stay safe yeah see it just coming under the bridge here a lot right so we’re at new tan loock let’s see how high it is here

Now I have seen it before where it’s been right up here as well as high as the the uh the lock Gates did put me drone up earlier see if we can actually see a little bit of it but yeah the Pub’s still open across the way believe or

Not the water is nearly up to the level of their windows so yeah that’s the navigation that is it don’t actually look too bad down here to be honest I mean I have seen it before when it’s actually been over the top of the uh the lot

Gates but God it’s a long time ago since I came down here there some very nice houses down here since I came down here Last yeah yes it cannot you cannot actually get across the lock Gates as you can see it’s right to the top the uh the walkway is just actually showing you can actually only just see it so you can just see New Castle as well so it looks like it’s actually over

The wall at New Castle so this is as far as I can get so yeah this is Newark 2024 in the floods yes so I’ve managed to get uh down to uh the castle uh where the river Trent is and the barge so the traffic is horrendous all

The cars trying to get out of Tony Lan just held everybody up today no so as you can see the barge you cannot get to it like I say I was here couple of months ago and it won’t as bad as this it’s right up to the edge of the car park as

Well at the moment can’t put my drone up it started to rain well I had some footage from earlier on Though So as you can see across the way the uh the river has actually gone into the castle grounds so about all the dungeons are actually flooded underneath the castle so this River’s flowing really fast and I don’t think it’s going to give up yet but just look at the state of the

Color of the water it’s even raining now a little bit as well so we’ve got more to come I think I if you can just see through where the car park is the fire and rescue actually over there so a lot of the people from town down Tony Lane are

Actually in the car park across the Way so it’s there under the bridge flowing pretty fast so I don’t think this is actually the end of it it’s actually drizzling with rain now forecast later as well right so there you go everybody a little bit of footage of the floods of January 20 24 of the river Trent so we

Started at cing G did a little bit of newer with the Drone and I went down to fondon as well and now I’ve ended up at New Castle and as you can see behind me the floods are really bad so I hope everybody survives these floods and everybody stays safe and everybody’s all

Right let’s get this summer here we don’t need no more rain we just need the warm weather and the Sunshine to get rid of all this water so I hope You’ enjoyed what I’ve done to today so if you have please don’t forget if you would like to

    1. Water from fields runs into rivers, fields consist of soil, soil washes into the rivers, rivers loose depth due to soil building up on river bed lessening depth of river, riverbanks grow and narrow course of river as soil builds up under water. DOE neglect to dredge rivers due to environmental excuse, hence flooding occurs, and of course fu.ckwitted councils give housebuilders permission to build on ancient flood plains exacerbating the situation. Not so much man made climate change more like man made disasters caused by sheer lack of maintenance and fu.ckwitery.

    2. Who is taking the money for maintaining rivers, dikes, would that be the Environmental Agency, Internal Drainage Board, the Council, the Central Government all taking their cut but not doing the service. Question, when was the last time you saw any of these cleaning out dikes and rivers ? There is no need for these floods had any of the Government quangos had done their job we already have and are paying for. Holland is not flooded, i wonder why.

    3. I'm from notts mate and lived in caythorpe (next to Gunthorpe/Lowdam). However, I moved away. Devastating again. I have a lot to do with local rugby and Newark, modern and casuals underwater.

    4. Many thanks for the video of Newark and Fardon area, You delt with the area better than TV reporters, I feel so sorry for the people in the area, my late wife and I spent a lot of time in and around Fardon and Newark boating up and down the river Trent from Nottingham, my prayers are with the residents and I do hope the river subsides quickly and things get back to normal.

    5. So, in a flood prone area, from the 1700’s to 2000 and 2023, we can safely say the “global warming” & “climate change” is actually improving the depth of the flooding. Sure, there are still floods but they’re getting shallower in that flood prone area, right? Wha-hoo!

    6. Councils not cleaning drains is causing loads of this a basic service put on hold to look for house's for refugees, making our country like the third world

    7. Great job mate! Britain really needs a new generation of great engineering minds like Brunel to help tackle the major environmental challenges that we face.

    8. So much of England is a flood plain so expect more as the chronic overcrowding on this island increases without control and cheap housing is thrown up at minimum cost. I doubt if there is much money left in the national kitty to do anything about improving the drainage so expect more of it. In 1875 where that mark is probably they did not have much of anything downstairs let alone carpets, expensive electric utilities or chipboard furniture so not such a problem then. Just swept the mud out and carried on with life unseen and unnoticed unlike now.

    9. As those marker stones show, floods have always happened, but now we have wall to wall social media more people are aware of it and many believe the official nonsense that it's due to global warming. I'd keep an eye on those marker stones, else they be removed secretly, during the night.

    10. Brilliant Video Neil, we think you were very brave walking on the stone bridge, very informative but done with a lot of sensitivity on the subject without any drama that you get on the mainstream media. Stay safe

    11. Every flood is devastating to those involved and these happen every year becoming more of a problem as the FLOOD PLAINS disappear under housing developments so the same excess water has to find somewhere to go.
Notice that question on your Insurance that now asks, are you nearer than X metres from a water course? That is a river, brook, drainage ditch, pond, lake etc.

    12. What fantastic video of all the floods , always so informative Neil well done . I feel so sorry for the the people who have affected by this , I live in Derby so not to far away .

    13. Thanks for your film. My mother used to live on old Kelham Rd in Newark. Her old house seems ok but what is clear is that if the dyke at the end of Kelham Rd had not been built, all the houses would have been inundated. I now watch the River Severn going up and down and sights locally have been very similar. Thanks for your films – v informative and also worrying given that both the heights of furture flooding and their frequency are forecast to get worse over future years.

    14. Brilliant coverage and so important to document. Imagine looking back on this in a few years! After a bad experience I wasn't keen on drones but this is so professionally done. Im subscribed and definitely changing my view point 🙂
