I’m trying to service my 2010 Specialized Allez headset. Struggling to understand what sized caged bearing to purchase.
Am I right in thinking I need 1 1/4” diameter cages bearing?
The bearing ball size looks smaller than 5/32”, but I’m not sure what else I can purchase.

Have you tried to clean these up yet? That would be my first move. If they shine up really well you should be able to just reuse them. If they stay dingy no matter how much you clean them, then I’d start looking for replacements. Either way, these look pretty common so it won’t be too hard to get replacement once you figure out the cage and bearing size.
I would be very surprised if such a modern bike was using caged ball bearings…. I suspect your cartridge bearing has come apart. Photo of the bike/headset please?
You don’t need the cage. The cage just makes the bearings alot easier to remove and clean the bearings. You can just take out the bearings and use them without the cage.
I always drop the bearings into the Park Tool spoke ruler. There are holes that tell you.

Probably something like this [22 ball retainer for 1 1/8” headsets](https://www.modernbike.com/product-2126203645?). Your local bike shop would be the first place to try, just bring in the old cage.
