Mohammed Chaudhry, Osama Saeed and Asgar Taj have been sentenced to 34 years and 7 months in prison after taking part in a fatal street race.

They used our roads like a racetrack – sharing videos of utterly appalling driving between each other on WhatsApp. Their behaviour put not just themselves but every other road user or bystander at a horrific amount of risk.

On Tuesday 15 September, 2020, they decided to race on the A34, just outside of Wilmslow. Dashcam in this video captured the moment they raced away from the lights – out of sight in moments.

They all fail to navigate the clearly signed roundabout that follows. Mohammed’s car (an Audi R8) hits it with such force the engine is ripped from the vehicle and the car continues a further 135 metres down the A34. His friend, Asad, comes off his bike and is struck and trapped by Saeed’s Audi RS3. He dies at the scene.

They admitted their guilt but none of them have shown any remorse – they didn’t even bother to turn up to court today, so arrest warrants have been issued for all three men.

We share roads safety campaigns regularly; our officers give inputs to kids and people on courses and this is why. This sort of behaviour will get you, your friends or innocent members of the public killed.
