It was our first moments riding a motorcycle on the island of Borneo in Indonesia, and we had no idea what to expect. And what we first came across was not what we had hoped for.

To make matters worse, as we come to our first stop, the motorcycle won’t start when we try to turn it on… AGAIN! But this time we’re truly in the middle of nowhere… no towns, no gas stations, and no hotels for more than 300 kilometers!

But as always, there is incredible beauty found laced throughout all the difficulties. And this road is no different.

    1. 14:44 It's about to change in a few years time as the Capital city of Indonesia will be moved to Kalimantan. The center of Indonesian governmental activities will initiate major developments in Kalimantan. Hope it will also initiate lots of bike rental industries on the island.

    2. Some Tips as local, if you have problem when no place to stay. You guys can go to mousqe or any other religion building or maybe police station in Indonesia. Just asking nicely if maybe can have rest and water for bath. Indonesian people always do that when touring, and they happy if they can help.

    5. Hey Guys, given the amount of riding you’ve done on this trip now and the trouble you’re having with the bike you’re riding, do you think you could’ve taken your KTM there after all?

    6. Great Video. Makes me want to go up there. Umi has some relatives who took a free land offer from the government years ago, packed up, and moved. Would love to check it out. Never been to Kalimantan. Been to Sakawak, Sabah, & Brunei. All on business trips…almost like saying you have been somewhere when you just flew in and caught a connecting flight. We did get away in Sarawak, outside of Miri to visit Niah Caves once. The entrance is big enough to fit a 747. Amazing place. I sure hope we can meet up on your return to Java. Love your second book. It is amazing how wandering souls meet up with the best people. Ride on!

    7. What a great series. You two are doing a great job showing the ins and outs, ups and downs, of this beautiful corner of the world. We cant wait for the next video!

    8. Motorcycle Company in Indonesia should give help to this couple so they can enjoy the road of Indonesia ,@KristianHansen already got KTM , @The Lost Boys got Kawazaki, at least pulsar should give support for accomodating this couple. #semangat ya kalian untuk jelajahi nusantara

    9. If you travel around Indonesia, your motorbike riding skills will be at god level, from damaged roads to small and busy roads, especially on the island of Java, maybe you will get magical circus skills..😁

    10. Tim must be a magician mechanic, able to mysteriously fix any problem.
Strange looking fruit! Now we want to try it.
      Thanks for the great video.

    11. I live and ride here in Indonesia. If you have the time, you should make your way to north/west Sumatra. The roads are awesome, it's higher terrain so also much cooler. I take a ferry to Sungai Pakning, bit of a flat, palm trees ride to Pekanbaru, continue west and the good ride starts. Town of Maninjau, the lake and crazy 44 turns road, hit the coastline, start north towards lake Toba and beyond. Pulsar 220, not many here, hope it runs well for you. I will be doing this trip in few weeks, maybe see you on the road there. Next year Borneo trip, so I am watching your adventures with added interest. be safe.

    12. I'll be honest, I truly loved Borneo for its abundance of wildlife and jungle atmosphere. I Was a bit disappointed by the deforestation of Palm. It's so awesome that you were able to experience it on 2 wheels. great vid

    13. Yes, Rambutan! My favorite! Always love your videos and your relationship.
Marisa, you have such a nice calming commentary voice when you are narrating the story. Makes me miss all the years I spent around the islands and countries in that part of the world.
