    1. Here in Portugal I've had a lot of cars pass us cyclists in an even closer distance than that. Another reason why I Zwift more and more during the year. Be safe.

    2. Carless Drivers , nearly got squashed coming out of CVV, Yesterday by a Tractor bouncing over the pot holes . But On the Old A46 there,s no excuse to get that close especially as its such a quite road . Ride Safe.😀😀

    3. Being killed by too many paches is not as implausible as it sound, especially if like me he swallowed the stones, the stones in peaches, cherries, and apples contain a chemical amygladin that can create cyanide when digested by enzymes in the stomach.

    4. Few years back I came off on black ice, thankfully off-road tarmac cycle path and no injury. Since then I'm wary of the black ice risk and only out on bike when its above 5C. Using the Wahoo Snap (wheel on) trainer but agree that it's pretty boring, not the same as riding in the countryside. Cycled to Newark several times but not recently, probably time to visit again.

    5. Good luck with notts police they told me unless they see a crime they won't investigate despite multiple cctv on the junction. Have to say its another benefit of trikes both slippy and getting space

    6. Hi Roy,many thanks for your Newark feature,it’s not a bad town in general, thanks for the positive comments, that was a near pass by the looks of it,as for Wendy’s singing it’s not bad although there was no town cats to be seen,☃️,atb Colin P.👍

    7. I was happy to see a new Ride with Roy video because I wasn't expecting one until after Christmas.

From the opening viewpoint it looked as if you might have been using one of those small hovering drones that have been showing up on YouTube reviews. If you haven't seen one, you might want to investigate. While the gadget (I think it's called a Hover One or something like that) does have a short battery life, it still might be useful for you. Just a thought.

That busy road you had to cross looked scary. For a minute I thought you had sped up the playback, but apparently not. Those vehicles were flying! 😮

Wendy, no one will be upset if you decide not to sing any carols. 😊
I got a good look at the rear taillight you use. It looked as if it is quite visible in the daytime and from a good distance. I'm trying to find one like that since I ride almost exclusively during the day. What kind is it, please?

The houses on the routes I ride are showing off their holiday finery but, yes, seeing the lights at night is much better.

This was another pleasant video. I found your short encounter with the swan was rather charming. The trash in the canal was disheartening. We have the same problem over here. 😒

Ride carefully both of you. 🎄✨️🎅

    8. The PC who mainly reviews the footage at Notts Police is a cyclist himself. He’s a member of my cycling club. I had a number of close passes today, overtaking in the face of oncoming traffic, on double white lines and just not giving enough room. Usually, big German 4×4 cars.

    9. Re index plate on van: Lots seem to be buying these 3d plates, the raised letters have a reflective film, hence cameras struggle to pick them up. Obviously illegal, but they’re out there.

    10. Oooooo! Carols by Wendy in a future episode.👍

I've just gone down with a chest infection that I know will keep me off the bike for at least a week. I know my fitness will plummet. It's the same when days of bad weather put a stop to riding. Only then do I see the appeal of an indoor trainer. All other times it's just not for me.
Very pleased the Police are taking dangerously close passes seriously. I've often wondered if those stupid drivers are cyclists? I'd personally think they aren't.
I had a rather heated discussion with a french friend over cyclists using the road. She railed about cyclists stopping her passing and got cross when i told her that if a car behind would endanger us by trying to squeeze in before an oncoming car I move towards the centre of the road to stop them. She accused me of being selfish and I countered by asking what she was going to do with the 30 seconds she'd save by overtaking dangerously? I should add she's never ridden a bike.
I wish you and Wendy a merry Christmas and look forward to more videos in the new year.

    11. Good to hear that you advocate cycling outdoors all year round, it's something I've always done (though I do lessen the miles between Nov and Mar). Only thing I really avoid is ice after an accident in January. I do have an indoor bike, which I set up at the start of lockdown 'just in case', I resort to it if the weather is just too B-awful. When I was much younger I used to cycle in the winter and at night . . . around Wandsworth and Battersea (London) areas – I must have been crazy then. Love your videos and hope to make a trip to your part of the world in 2024. Happy Christmas and Happy, Safe Cycling!

    12. I'm like you regarding riding indoors, much prefer the outdoors. Although that is a very busy road to cross (A52). It did look icey in parts and still quite flooded, so glad you got back safe. 👍🏼

    13. Had quite a few passes like that, trucks being the scariest. I would think that car isn't far from the 1.5m min recommended (well maybe half a metre) which just shows how low that limit really is!
      Glad your all safe.
