I was on this road in 1970 and recall seeing tombs/sarcophagi along the road. Seems they've been removed.
Too bad they allow cars on this ancient road. The tourists all over the road. No one is walking single file. Have to do this hike or bike very early in the morning for sure
Novembre 1985 …viaggio notturno in treno x manifestazione studentesca. Sdraiati sui portabagagli… Arrivammo a Roma x le 7:00 e con un mio carissimo amico mollammo la manifest…e dalla stz Termini fino a Piramide Cestia , poi non ricordo come , ma arrivammo all'inizio proprio e dalle 8:30 circa fino alle 11:00 , ci facemmo tutta l'Appia Antica camminando , fino a via Lucio Volumnio. Sotto una pioggerella sottile. Come fosse ieri. ๐ค๐ปโณ

When I was about to start the relationship with a girl, today my wife, I had a vision of the Via Appia, and the sentence "Quo vadis Domine" came through my mind. I knew that was it.

he is pushing the pram, by the posture of her arms you can tell that her eyes are fixed to her bloody smartphone.
Both walk around in clothes, that nobody would wear even in the dreariest african slum.
What a bleeding nasty world for children to grow up – they will never see her father in nice suit with a tie, never be able to look at a mother in fresh, beautiful dress. All they get to see is tattoed parents in adidas sh.t, with basecaps and sneakers and, apparently, nobody seems to care….
