Minimum speed signs are fairly rare here too. The only ones I see on a regular basis are the ones in the Dartford tunnel under the Thames just east of London.
Slight variations of these road signs are used throughout Europe, making it easy to follow when driving throughout the Continent
Recently did a Chapter 8 course for using temp roadworks signs…..incredibly dull and the official govt. catalogue of signs is the size of a telephone directory…P.S. car drivers are still too stupid to work out how to "merge in turn", regardless of how many signs there are🚗🤯
Red is always a precursor to danger. This is actually hard wired into us and used to be used to great effect in movies. You will often see a red coloured item (for example a shirt, dress or vehicle) in shot just before some action starts, subconsciously preparing you and adding to the tension for the scene ahead
We do have a few painted stuff on the roads, often things like "Slow", or "Left Turn Only", stuff like that. Often in addition to actual signs since as with a lot of painted stuff, it wears off and they never seem to get around to repainting it before it's unreadable.
As with a lot of European signs we tend to go with pictograms rather than words, since there's more than one language in the UK with protected legal status, so rather than have bilingual signs and too many words to read, it's just better to eliminate the language barrier completely, apart from placenames ofc.
Warning signs in the Republic of Ireland are different to everywhere else in Europe. They follow the American and Canadian model of being yellow diamond-shaped signs.

Give way signs are inside a red warning triangle, but are upside down compared to other warning triangles; the reason for this is that they are an important warning sign, and if covered in snow, you could still tell by the shape of the sign,you gotta give way!

yeah but in her defence those questions are so tricky to understand. One in particular was : Which is the most common road sign you would expect to find on a country road?

The opposite most of these signs you will find in country roads, sharp bens road narrowing etc
The signs will tell you what the condition is , if its not obvious I have never seen the no explosives sign

I play a lot of American Truck Simulator, I've never understood why you can turn right on a red light. I've seen the narrowing arrows on the road when being on the highway.
Soft verges – the grass at the edge of the road. Sometimes the roads are really narrow – so narrow that when passing, cars have to edge onto the verge. And sometimes the grass verges are squidgey, or swampey, or where I am they sometimes have streams in them. Dead easy to get stuck.
One thing he doesn't cover is that infomation signs (like distance signs) are colour coded. If it's blue you're on a motorway (or a place is reached via a motorway), green is for A roads and 'primary routes', white is for local roads. Brown is for attractions (museums, castles, camp sites, historic towns, zoos, theme parks, etc).
Yes Boomer there are lots of painted arrows on roads. The thing is you can’t see those if the road is full of traffic. The signs duplicate signs in the road which are officially called “Road Markings”. Every day is a schoolday😊
red is a western thing for negative, if you goto east asia red is the positive colour

Verges are the strips of grass eitherside of roads. Mostly in rural areas. Sometimes can they can be wet/soft and a chance of getting stuck if you drive on it.
The guys voice in the roadsigns video almost sent me to sleep.
we definitely have the directional arrows in the road approaching traffic light and roundabout junctions. we even have the signs saying the exact same thing and yet some idiots still manage to get it wrong.
in the UK they try to avoid STOP signs and try to design them out of the roadway, rather use roundabouts
roundabout = give way, yield to traffic going around it. joining on the first gap in traffic

10:48 Yes, we have arrows on the road surface too, including arrows to tell you to move over.
That "secret nuclear bunker" brown sign is often included in joke memes, of the "it's not much of a secret if there's a sign directing you to it, that's stupid" type. But it's not a joke – the UK government decommissioned one of its cold war nuclear bunkers in 1992 and sold it back to the farming family the land was compulsorily purchased from in 1952 when it was first built. I have been there a few years ago, so can confirm that it does exist and is a genuinely amazing tourist attraction. Most of the original equipment is still there and in working order – there is even a fully functioning telephone exchange which could still be used today if needed, though only for landline phones of course.
Red is used because its a harsh colour to view. It grabs your attention more. Likely because our brains are wired to watch out for red.
However in eastern countries like China. Read means prosperity and money.
