The second part of my 2022 trip around the North coast of Soctland sees me head south for the first time, from John o’ Groats, down to Aberdeen. Taking in the pretty fishing villages of the Moray Firth coastline, this time I enjoy some rushing about, some dawdling, a horrible bout of burnout and an amazing oil-rig graveyard.

Keep a list of the number of ferries you take.
I've only done the South coastline, and there were surprisingly many ferries you even have to take there (including holding your bike upright in what is no more than a rowing boat!!!!!).
great vid. shame i didn't know you passed through Peterhead last year, you could have popped in for a cuppa tea! again will remind we was in the same year at saddy! look forward to the next vid!
Great video Ollie – so happy to see that you got t' ferry. One day ahead o' schedule too – good work. Looking forward to next vid and seeing if you make it into England . Around Edinburgh is so nice there's no need to hurry. All the best!
looked like heaven even though you came under fire at lossiemouth. travelling through scotland sounds like whisky adventure to my ears.
great bit of history on the sailors strike, the first strike i have heard of is a building gang with a foreman who worked on pharaohs tombs/temples.
Absolutely fabulous vlog. Great editing and scenery. You've worked hard. Loved every minute. Thanks ..Well done ✔️ 😊😊😊😊
I worked up between Inverness and Aberdeen about 12 years ago, beautiful part of the world! Nice to see it again. Another great video Ollie
What an epic adventure!
Ollie, you are so lucky to have such a bike adventure — I'm so jealous……… Stay safe and look both ways around cars………………………….
Well done, Ollie.
Lovely clear pictures… Am I allowed to ask what your using as a camera and what editing program do you use? Brilliant vid by the way
Lovely pictures taken around Scotland there, Stay safe.
Hi Ollie, a great introduction to the NE of Scotland, I am resting up with a swollen knee, so it was lovely to 'armchair' cycle with you. All the best, J & S
Great video! I'm an Aberdonian – the reason the city looks so grey is that the older buildings are all made from granite – it was quarried locally in abundance. When the sun shines (on a few days each year) the city sparkles 🙂
25 years ago, I cycled from Calais to Marseille, took a ferry across to Corsica, a ferry to Livorno Italy, cycled across Italy and ended up in Prague, then back across Europe to Calais. I took a collapsible 10l plastic water container with me and at the end of each day, I knocked on the door of the last cottage in the village (the one with a likely field to camp in next door) asking for a water refill and it never failed. Camped in fields and in peoples gardens. It took 6 weeks to get back to Calais….
Funny to see the community washing line in full force. Sorry to hear about your gloomy spell. I've been going through the same thing, call it a mid-life crisis, although it just feels like I'm wasting my time. Luckily you had the vastness of Scotland to take your mind off it. Perhaps you feel like you are rushing the trip, without stopping to see any of it. This can be boring if things are set to a deadline. Perhaps as you say, it was burn out. They say Bananas are a cyclists best friend. Hopefully you will have time to check out the sights of Dundee and Edinburgh more gently?
The first time I came across your channel you were going through Grotton tunnel which is where I was brought up! Now you’re cycling around the world 👍👍
What an adventure! Brilliant video. I enjoyed the minutiae, like what you were having for your tea. (Rice. Lots and lots of rice.) Can't wait for the next instalment.
That's it. I'll get out.
Get out my maps and plan a bike adventure with the family, I mean. It will be the first tour for the kids 😁
Hills and especially them invisible hills (headwind [*] ) can drain all energy and will. Safe riding!
* if you feel a tailwind you are riding too slow!
Awesome video Oliver!!🎉
Awesome video Oliver!!🎉
I would love to all the way to the far north of Scotland. I have been to the West of Scotland including the Isle of Skye and Fort William.
