At some time in the future I will be making a history of RAF Grimsby so will not delve into that here apart from saying that in 1940 a civil airfield at Waltham closed having been surveyed and found suitable for development into an airfield fro RAF Bomber Command.

November 1941 RAF Grimsby opened as a satellite for Binbrook

April 2 1945 No. 100 Squadron moved to Elsham Wolds because of Waltham’s deteriorating runways, and this marked the end of Bomber Command flying units at the station.

a total of 164 bombers were either missing in action or crashing in the UK during WW2 from this airfield, this comprised 48 Wellingtons and 116 Lancasters

These are some of the apparitions reported from RAF Grimsby
