In the summer of 2021, my dad and I went on the bike tour of a lifetime: riding our bikes from Canada to Mexico along the Pacific Coast. We had both rode the TransAmerica bike route- my dad rode it in 1981, and I rode it in 2023….so we decided it would be neat to do a bike tour together! The trip had its up and downs, but I would do it again in a heartbeat! If you are considering cycling the Pacific Coast, or even part of it, be sure to watch this video!

I love your travels. Would you share your trip information, mileage and camping/accommodations? Thanks for inspiring
what rack is that your dad has on his Surly? Getting ready for thePacific Coast ride.
Nice video, excellent editing……
im really curious what you guys did leaving san Clemente entering San Diego county because there is nothing in-between that except about 20 miles of freeway
Sooo cool!!! I hope I can ride like that one day!!! and maybe my dauther would come! Love the experience and yes, you will remember it for as long as you two live. Felicidades señorita! and to your dad too!
Definitely the best time are experiences with those you love! Well said, and it was a great trip together.
What time of year did you guys set the trip to start?
Very cool video and trip… well done…. Enjoy every minute you can with your parents while you can….
Casi me habéis hecho llorar, cabrones! Tengo hijitas y me encantaría algún día una experiencia así con ellas. Desde España!
Realy special experience .
You did good job broth of you.
Thank you for this beautiful bike trip video🙏 You are both very likeable, funny and always happy and smile 🙂 I come from Germany and this route is a dream of mine, which I would like to drive in the next 1-2 years 🙂
Yes, you are so right “the best things in life are experiences, especially with those you love”. Thank you both for sharing such fun and beautiful moments. You are both an incredible inspiration. I am so looking forward to having such adventures with the people I love. Thank you ❤
Wow. What a story. I hope I will be able to do a similar trip like this with my daughter. Thanks for sharing this fantastic video.
Rich bike tour, nice…..
It was great that you will always have this memory of your father. He seems like quite the character. You put together a very impressive video of your journey. It was a pleasure to watch. May there be many more roads for you to travel! Bike on! 😊
what,s a nice girl
awesome video, can you tell me about yours Dads bike, I do not like the drop handlebars but want to do some distance biking. Thank you
Very nice tour! Camping like that beats staying in motels and hotels, by far, mostly because of the expense and the credit card thing. At one big hotel chain, they put a hold on people's card for an extra $50 per night, just in case you damaged or stole something. You have to travel all the way back there to contest any accusations of theft or damage. Some guests abuse the rooms they stay in. I get it. But honest visitors leave with a bad taste. Besides, sleeping outdoors in the elements is hard to beat.
Excellent video. Excellent trip.
Aspen, just watched this. One of my favorite rides. So nice to see you two enjoying it. Thanks for making me smile. (:
Great adventure ! you made me want to do it ! Cheers from France
I did that ride in two journeys one in 1980 from San Francisco to Vancouver Canada and SanDiego to Los Angeles six months later. In 1986 I did the bit from LA to San Francisco. Big Sur coast was a highlight for me too. Especially enjoyable as a landslide cut off most of the road traffic for a few days. We cyclists could lug our bikes up and down around it. Truly great scenery and wonderful encounters with other people.
This is amazing summary of your amazing bike packing trip.
I’d love to see a more detailed video:
Exactly how long did this trip take you?
Did you can’t more than staying overnight in hotels?
Any advice to others planning this trip?
When did you start & finish!
What did you pack that you did not use?
Did you send anything home?
Did you have to purchase anything big?
Thanks!!
A very uplifting, light and breezy video, and you have a wonderful voice for narration. The only problem is now I want to bike from Canadian to Mexican border. Darn!!
I like your video I Am Your Biggest friend I am your subscriber you are very hard working god bless you enjoy your life
¡sera imborrable!
You've got a terrific dad and he's got a pretty sharp daughter. Enjoy.
Inspiring and fun to see. Thanks
Too bad you had to do this polluting flying and car- driving first like it's all perfectly normal, it's not..,
I biked the Pacific coast highway in '94 after my tour of Alaska. Thanks for the memories. ❤
What a delightful trip. Thanks for taking us along.
Just shared with my daughter. Good stuff Aspen! I’m retiring on 11/22/23 and am going to visit my youngest son in SFO in early December. He suggested Redwood SP, and I’d really like to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge with him too. It was cool to see both in your video.
So rad.
I just did that tour almost two years.
I started December first so it was cold and wet but I moved to Seattle a few months ago just so I can do the Trip again when it warms up.
Cool video you guys rock.
I was on the surly cross-check.
I couldn't find the L-H-T
I still can't find one.
Thanks for the video.
Хорошее путешествие, мне понравилось.👍
Can you make a run down gear used and bike gear please.thankyou kg
I wish I would have known you were doing this! I would have loved to join you riding through my county, Orange County just south of LA. Huntington Beach, Newport Beach Laguna Beach, San Clemente. Did you have to ride on the freeway from San Clemente to Oceanside? I think it's the only place on the whole trip you would have to do that. Keep up the adventures!
