It’s the bike we’ve all been waiting for – the 2024 BMW R1300GS.
Replacing a bike that considered by many to be the perfect bike, it’s certainly got some big shoes to fill, so how does it stack up?
BikeSocial’s Adam’ Chad’ Child spent a couple of days in the Spanish countryside around Malaga, riding both on and off road, to find out.

Were you riding without gloves (5.42)?
No need to feel sorry for us with the "older" model…….perfectly happy with it!
It sounds like a great bike, but it's going to take me a minute to get my head around it. The 1250 seemed perfect. It also seems like they are trying to make it so you have to buy their bags instead of having options, maybe I'm wrong. They won't sell you a service manual either.
The new GS doesn’t offer an adjustable windscreen whereas the old one did? He didn’t even mention the lack of backlit controls? No discussion about what was actual weight savings and what is just gaming the system?
Terrible review y someone who doesn’t even know the GS.
I would never swap my 1250 for this motard. Testdrive proved just as dissapointing as the looks. You feel divorced from the drivetrain somehow. Weightsaving from reducing tank size and installing lighter battery is no real improvement. The dissapointment of the decade.
For me, its small. Feels a lot less substantial than my current 1250GS. Maybe that’s the intention but as a distance comfort tourer I can’t see me swapping. Be interesting to see the GSA / 1400 next year
It’s so sad that in terms of content, bennetts reviews are always so weak. No conclusions, deep dive, nothing. They should learn a few things from true reviewers like big rock moto or v-told
0:47 did not need to improve the gs you say ? are you sure about that the weight improvement is definitely welcome
Hello, nice bike what about the high ? I am 5.1 and is hard to find a low bike for me. I ride F 800st but i like to switch for gs
dunno if i'm more interested in the bike or these twisties!!! WHERE IS THAT??
How is 12kg a massive weight change. Would be hardly noticeable. 30kg would be a noticeable change in weight. Please quote wetweight in future as dry weight is meaningless in practical terms. I have been told the gearbox is now below the engine which suggests to me the c of g which is an important consideration will be higher ie more top heavy, why no mention of direct figures comparison with the older 1250. All these little elements you mention are only more things to go wrong. Thks
The engine sound noises and more rattling to me than the 1250.
Strange the design without the knobbies (like the one you reviewed here) really just looks like a normal road bike. I think its BMW just finally acknowledging the demographic of their avg buyers and what they typically do with it? Perhaps also positioning it now as that area between propper ADV bikes and their K range touring bikes?
Why is the rider in front of you riding the bike like a off-road rider?
why not just go to a 4 litre v4 you bmw clowns— a 1200 is more than you ever need— the woke buyers out there are unbelievable
I don't doubt this is good but there was an ad in bahnstormer for a brand new GS Trophy 1250 TE for £13k, that is crazy cheap considering what they used to cost before this
Envious you say.. No, I don't think many R1250GS riders will be.
150 NM this is crazy with 237kg
this performance jump from the 1250 to 1300 is akin to the jump BMW made back in 2005 from the 1150 to the 1200. for those who don't recall, the 1200 was "narrow", "light", and "fast" and yet there was still alot to like about the previous 1150 since it's extra weight and extra mass gave it less high frequency "buzz".
Yes, but try Bennits quote. They don’t list this bike. No joke they don’t list it.
Gs owner doing this review ktm 1290 was scrutinised so much i sense a paid reveiw from bmw????
