Clubs in a women’s football league in Yorkshire have pulled out of matches against a team that fielded a trans woman.

The boycott started after an opposing player suffered a season-ending knee injury while blocking a shot from Francesca Needham, it was reported.

TalkTV’s Julia Hartley-Brewer is joined by Fair Play For Women’s Fiona McAnena to discuss the story.

Fiona argues: “The issue here is not discrimination because this player is trans, the problem is it’s not safe or fair for women.”

Writing about her decision on Facebook, Needham said: “I sincerely hope that this issue of perceived discrimination against me can be resolved peacefully and promptly, with the full support of the Football Association and the policies they have written and approved.”

    1. About time women stood up to be counted. They want to cancel women's sports in a takeover by men but they can't do this if the women refuse to take part. These transwomen cannot force their agenda onto women.

    2. This is about size and strenght, NOT gender! There is a reason you got weight classes in boxing – And here you got a heavy weight "identifying" as a lighweight???? It's kinda funny – if it wasn't so dangerous for all the other lightweights!!!

    3. Its so unfair on the ladies & im so fed up with this there should be a trans league or play as you were born. Im fully behind ladies in every case like this stay out of toilets, sports, prisons etc

    4. Why has this action taken so long???
The first time that a trans swimmer was out up against female swimmers , the women should have walked out!!!
And so it should be in all competitive sports.
Don't wait for your governing body to act, stop such things at the competition level.
Supporters, and viewers are not going to watch a one person race, and they will make their feelings known!!!
Don't hand out any BS about sports scholarships, or loosing support from some school. Right is right, and the fans are there to support your decision, so are the networks selling these events on the broadcast media.

Be strong, be aggressive, and support women's sports, for women only.
      Trans women, ARE NOT WOMEN!!!

    5. Physical sports, where physique matters, then absolutely not, but non-physical sports that involves skill, snooker, darts, pool, et cetera then it shouldn’t matter.
