I started this great ride at Exeter and rode to the beautiful sea side at Dawlish Warren. I then travelled through Dawlish and went over the steep hill towards Chudleigh. Along the way, you can see me helping the traffic flow as it was building up behind me on the narrow lanes.
My observations are the subject of this ride. So come along and enjoy another great cycling adventure.

    1. Thanks for the “lunch” ride. Watched the video while having lunch. 😊 Kudos to you for allowing traffic to pass. I do the same on narrow roads. Hopefully that courtesy will be reciprocated by motorists when they pass us. Can’t wait for the next ride. Ride safe!

    2. I pulled over a few times today to let vans and cars past that I was holding up going up the hills.
Pretty much all of them bibbed their horns of flashed the hazards to acknowledge

As a cyclist and a motorist I like to give us cyclists as good a rep as I can with other road users including horse riders, runners
Let’s just be a bit more considerate

Love the vids by the way

    3. Respectfully..every time you pull over to allow drivers in cars to go past, you're telling them you don't have as much a right to use the road as them. I get it…considerate cycling. How about considerate driving in being patient enough not to beep a cyclist for using roads that are for everyone. I just don't like that you subconsciously acquiesce to motor vehicle priority.

All for riding to the left where you can and basic decency when it comes to large vehicles turning or oncoming (even though I'm not sure why you aren't cycling on the left of those vehicles instead of the right in the middle of the road)…but completely stopping so cars, drivers that just have to push their foot down to move, can have right of way?

I'll jump into a left turn lane to let vehicles past…but im not stopping cycling..especially not on a hill.

You've every right to equal use of the road. If they don't like that…they can cycle too…then they wont have to worry about being impatient in their cars…because they'll probably be to unfit to even get up that hill, let alone overtake you.

Coz you know what would really help traffic flow? Less cars.

(on another note…love the scenery and recording. Though I imagine it's blisteringly cold over there in the wet)

    4. Good for you. I've been cycling since I was a young lad in the 80s and I do think that it's the newer crop of cyclists who have poor road cycling etiquette. Am I in a race? No. Am I a professional cyclist who makes a living from cycling? No. In which case I constantly monitor the road situation and, if needs be and it's safe to do so, I pull over and let traffic pass.

I for one don't want to add to the already toxic car vs bike wars that are completely unnecessary and, with luck, my courteous behaviour will not anger motorists.
