We’ve all slept through a few alarms, run a bit late now and again, but what about sleeping through a doping test? This week, Dan talks about the cycling doping test system and Jonas Vingegaards missed test back in 2019. Does this make him guilty or not? We also discuss the CX racing and pro cycling transfer news.

    1. Yes! It’s literally a part of ur job. You showed up to everything else but a doping test lol. Anywho, I don’t care either way, they all dirty. And I’m fine with that.

This reminds me of the time Jon jones hid under the octagon lol.

    2. On 2 August, three days before the Rio opening ceremony, the Daily Mail reported that Armitstead had missed three tests, and claimed that the ban had been overturned only with the help of a crack legal team.

    3. I am looking forward to the P-B-P documentary as I continue to binge-watch the GCN+ videos I have missed. I don't think Mr. Lloyd wants me to work even harder to do this by December 17, as he indicates at 12:57, since GCN+ will go dark two days later on December 19!

    4. Brilliant explanation about the missed tests, Dan. Another good reason why a single test shouldn't be used to infer guilt is that the testers can mess up. For example, a non-functioning doorbell and testers not knocking or calling (I know they did call in Vingegaard's case – he admitted as much himself). Who's at fault in that case? Not the athlete in my opinion.

If Vingegaard's story can be taken at face value, then all that was needed for the testers to get their sample was knocking the door.

Inferring doping from one failed test is flat out silly, given the reasons that a test could have been failed. Probably one of the reasons it's a three-strike system.

    5. stage 16 in real time I said desrved asterick. Been watching for 40 years you knoe it when you see it hed dominate or chlaenge tadej at strade, masr, flanaders, eseciallylbl, lombardia if in wind he were able to ush on at such seeds. Itt was half hartbreaking half history. Stage 16 before first time check in rouleurs territory where wout and mads dominated had fastest times and to be expected tadej. The nen who pull jonas through valleys as he doesnt have kilojoules or raw watts like a cavagna who he scorched Jonas getting fastest time was farce hes most protected rider in in peoloton surrounded by rouleurs because he is so light and needs escorts at all times up tpo summit. heads in sand how many times do we know same story same eyeball test more reliable then whatever they do in house. He did have fairing on which he did not in vuelta and was sluggish despite climbing well vuelta like his 2nd tour where he followed tadej well and even distanced on ventoux is realistic that TT was anatani in 99 giro or ricodoesnt ass eyeball test,

    6. "…but does a missed test make you guilty?"
No, much like NOT missing a test doesn't make you innocent of doping. So what's your point?

    7. That moment in the tour when he found an extra stack of Watts and everyone from a certain generation thought "hmmmmm I remember seeing this before".

    8. It may not be an admission of guilt, but it looks suspicious, no doubt.
I believe there’s no doping in cycling, just as I believe the 2020 presidential election was legitimate.

    9. Missed test is suspicious, but Vingegaard has a believable explanation, and it's 4 years ago and only a single missed check. So let's play on without trying to put too much weight on something that's well within the rules and I'm sure common throughout the peleton

    10. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 bro everyone in the peloton dopes, it’s obvious, grow up, Santa Claus isn’t real just like the tooth fairy

    11. “We investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing”. Of course there’s doping in pro cycling. That’s the only way sponsors will pay huge bucks. It’s like Egan Bernal mysteriously having “COVID” and going missing after winning the Giro. He was suddenly well enough to give the Pope a Pinerello though 🤔…

    12. Lance Vinggeroid is for sure one of the most doped up sportsperson there is, he is in holy trinity together with Lance and Pantani.. Thats why a "no name" was accused of doping earlier this year at Jumbo visma, they needed an escape goat for Vinggeroid… he is a shit person

    13. It probably happens more than we think, but it's pretty rare for a grand tour champion. I don't even remember Armstrong missing one. *Edit, I do understand he wasn't yet a GT champ in 2019.

    14. Lovely recap! Dan's the man!! I had no idea the anti-doping protocols were so intense, good thing I guess. I appreciate Dan's common sense break down of the "incident"

    15. According to one report, he was then tested 2 days after the missed test. I don't know doping drug details or other methods, but seems like most, if not all, evidence of doping that might have been found in the missed test would have also been caught two days later. Just a thought.

    16. Are you kidding me? Missed a test IN 2019, and you're dredging it up now? For what? Wasn't this omission dealt with in 2019 or 2020? If the UCI or whomever (no I didn't watch the video because the subject matter; i.e., the question, seems so stupid) dealt with it 3-4 years ago, what is newsworthy about it today, in 2023? If the UCI is just NOW getting around to it, then shame on the UCI.

Any way you cut the story, bringing it up today, now, in 2023, is just nonsense.

    17. There are major flaws in the anti doping systems, TEU's, out of competition use, non-performance enhancing drugs being banned, performance enhancing drugs not being banned. It is certainly far from perfect there are plenty of ways to get an advantage over your competition and never miss a test, so I don't think missing a test is indicative of anything.
