Cologne, was founded by the Romans and is over 2,000 years old. It claims to be the home of glühwein, which can be found everywhere and is a perfect way to keep warm whilst exploring the markets.

We’ll visit the Angel market with its wintery white huts topped off with cute little angel statues. The trees are decorated with strings of twinkling golden lights and every stall has something exciting to show.

Nearby is the festive Village of St. Nicholas, dedicated to the patron saint of Christmas. The stalls are medieval in style with half timbered decorations, to match the 13th century Hahnentorburg gate beside it.

Come join Anna and myself as we explore the ancient streets of Cologne and enjoy some festive fun and winter cheer as we explore the wondrous Christmas markets of Cologne.

    1. So good to be back at the Christmas markets. You captured this Cologne one beautifully with its wide variety of food (from Germany and elsewhere), as well as the many hand-made decorations and, of course, the Gluhwein, which is perfect for a cold evening. Looking forward to more to come.

    2. Festive beginning to our Christmas season. Beautiful market, thank you so much for sharing with us Stephan, Anna, Kathrine, and Oskar. So much fun!
