Squaresoft’s follow up to the smash hit Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore was a surprise to many. A lot of folks expected a direct sequel and many to this day still think it is one, but that is far from the truth. Secret of Evermore is the ONLY game to date that the US branch of Square ever developed. Despite this, or perhaps in part of it, the rumor is that Squaresoft in Japan hated the game terribly.
For my part I think the game’s campy story and characters, strong atmospheric music from Jeremy Soule’s first ever soundtrack, and the amazing dog companion made this game one not to miss.
