GCN+ is no longer, so we discuss what that means for everyone outside Europe. Enough of the BIKE INDUSTRY IS DOOMED content, what’s the best way for forward and how to find a few deals while you are at it. Getting back into some structured training, what session do you use as your indicator? Training with a singlet, is it as cool as @TheVeganCyclist makes it out to be?

I watched many of the documentaries and pretty much every big race long form highlights, lots of weird races and CX. I will miss the variety of races, especially when on the trainer. Im in Aus FWIW.
Don't care about gcn+ app. Never had it. Always just catch highlights on youtube (I'm in the US).
South Australia has a road race every year in the Riverland calked the tour of the Riverland otherwise known as the berri race and Loxton isn’t too far from there
Chris should be trained by Jesse😂
Going to have to pay twice as much for the Discovery + package via a vpn next year. Sorry but cant stand listening to sbs comms and all the adverts with 8km to go in the sprint stages. Sorry guys but your take on this is out. Look at the traction LRCP get with their coverage of every WT race. There is so much awesome racing outside of the 3 GT and 5 monuments. SBS dont even get the Giro ffs!
I keep hearing that if you are EU based there is no change. Actually there is if you want ALL the races inc grand tours, then you will now pay almost £40 a month as apposed to £40 a year !. For some people that is not possible.
Instead of cancelling the whole app… They could just not buy the rights to races that have low viewership.
I loved the gcn documentaries. Will be sadly missed
As an American, I mainly used gcn+ to watch the mtb world cups after they moved over from Red Bull. I did also watch some of the movies too like the Unbound one that was good.
Jesse said he never reads the comments… This is not only dumb, but also disrespectful to his audience…. I understand that it is impossible to read all the comment, but you and him should at least take a look at them… Maybe the comments will help you to find out why you channel is a failure or not growing. Listen to your audience dumb asses!
You should interview this Fantastic Australian Cyclist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diMxFwB6GBQ&t=21s …. there is intelligent life down below also.
As someone living in the USA, one of the big issues is that you can't even watch the Tour de France on GCN+ here without a VPN; it's exclusively shown on NBC/Peacock. So right there, the race that your average rider cares about the most isn't even on GCN+. Heck, of the three grand tours, only the Giro is viewable on GCN+ in the USA. The Vuelta is also exclusively on NBC/Peacock. Funny you mentioned Paris-Nice, because Paris-Nice is also not on GCN+ in the USA, it's on Peacock, lol. Region restrictions for major races (the Tour, Vuelta, Paris-Nice, LBL, Flèche Wallonne, Tour Down Under, Paris-Tours, Critérium du Dauphiné) do hamper GCN+ a bit in the US. Plus, you can also watch Paris-Roubaix in the US without GCN+. So, when a Peacock subscription gets you the biggest race of the year plus a few other major races, why does the casual roadie need GCN+? Especially when the highlights for other races are free on YouTube?
'The bike industry isnt over priced' then goes on to talk about the largest bike component maker's delaminating cranks and busted power meters on their horrendously priced top tier products…
Guys, I am in the USA (in California a few miles away from Tyler P. / Vegan Cyclist) but my wife and I have a much different experience with GCN+. We enjoyed almost all the documentaries, interviews with the legends of our sport, the industry tours, cycling destination videos etc. We also enjoyed a lot of the racing coverage, especially the women's races which are very hard to find even a mention of anywhere online, much less actual coverage. We were crushed when we got the news about GCN+ going away, it will be sorely missed and there are not many others out there doing what they were, especially at that level. However, I do have to give you kudos as your podcast was the first place I heard about this being a possibility some time ago. I enjoy your show, I find you guys are interesting, and often funny. I look forward to each episode usually via podcast, but then sometimes catch them a second time here on YouTube if I want the visuals you have been describing.
GCN+ was a game changer here in Canada, finally we could watch all the races we wanted with no hassle. now we're back to the stone age.
I live in Europe and found GCN+ great. For 40 bucks you got a cycling dedicated app with all the races, films, new etc in one place. Like Chris said we‘ll probably have a little tab on the discovery app somewhere. Basically they don’t care. The makers GCN care about cycling.
Maybe everybody doesn’t agree with everything y’all say, but it sure is refreshing to hear opinions, rather than mindless regurgitation of content from many other cycling channels.
Your math on Tirreno in North American market might be skewed if you are using geo locations to count the views. As CDN you needed VPN to see tirreno and a number of other races due to FloSports having rights for North America and then getting screwed by them on availability
Bought the white Merida Scultura 6000 105 di2 off 99 bikes for $2999 few months ago on super sale. Went this route over higher spec models so can upgrade to shorter power metre cranks and new wheels of my choice 👌
Unbeatable value
How else do you grow cycling beyond Europe? Saying that because it's not in your back yard no-ones interested shows that the sport needs to grow and have fans behind it both here in Europe and beyond
What will happen to Female cycling and MTB racing. If the top team has issues getting a sponsor. What will be next for cycling. Is pro racing dead
GCN+ was a game changer, until the game changed them!
Other than the TDF on NBC sports I was unaware of any bike racing broadcast/streaming here in the USA. I found the GCN youtube channel about 6 years ago and subscribed when they started GCN+ at $25/yr. Besides watching the monuments and classic road races I started really getting into CX racing on the weekend. I still needed to VPN into London to watch a lot of the CX races. So Jessie is right, we here in USA are basically back to square one, TDF and Roubaix only. On the GCN app people from the USA reportedly tried to get a eurosport account but are blocked because of their credit card home address. So even trying to VPN into eurosport will not work. (If anyone finds out otherwise I'd like to know.) Because of GCN+ I can name and recognize more women world tour and women CX racers than MLB and NFL players now. Great show guys, keep it up, and don't pull the plug on the USA. There are dozens of us cycling fans here. lol
I believe that your assessment of the numbers that GCN had as Australian viewers is incorrect as it failed to account for VPN. For example I never, even when it was not geo-restricted, watched any race without the VPN running and as a result my viewing would have always been located in either the UK or Ireland.
The concern now is that we are in an environment that is almost as bad as the US in terms of viewing as what little cycling is available is only supported via a single source that has a nearly unusable web streaming system and for the most part a commentary team that is more painful than fingernails on a black board.
He is hoping that any Discovery app is as easy to watch with a VPN as GCN so at least we have something.
NERO show vibe singlets/tshirts in the works for the next round of merch?
I am going miss it. I have loved watching some of the smaller races, seeing so many womens races and I am now a big cyclocross fan. The race commentators are on the whole interesting and i I enjoy listening as well as watching. For Australian cycling fans the GCN+ was a world changing. I am devo.
Can confirm. Picked up a Scully 6000 and put some dt Swiss wheels on. Been a great crit pig for the season so far!
