    1. Bike tech definitely makes a difference, particularly the stiffness of wheels and frames. I know a couple of pro-conti riders and they know how their season will go after the first ride on their new bike.

    2. Jesus Christ! Cycling has become the domain of snarky, elitist brand whores. Screw the idol worship and just ride. Someone should quickly promote a Tour du Poor and let it roll without all of the black lycra clad cunts aboard $12,000 bikes.

    3. Well…I know i'm 2 years late, but i'm guessing that putting every rider on the same bike would offer some an advantage whilst others not.

    4. I've got a Tour De France Spec bike from the late 90's early 2000's era. After adding it up, I spent about $5000 on it. It's a specialized S-Works frame with full Dura-ace and some choice parts on it. The last of the aluminum Tour bikes I think, because the next year everyone was riding carbon. My sweat has about dissolved the printing on the frame, but it's still a sweet machine though. You could definitely compete on the road stages with it, especially in the mountains, but you'd lose in a time trial.

    5. lol of course it can be done – all that matters is watt/kg and aerodynamic position on the bike – expensive bikes are a scam if it comes to performance.

    6. I believe that a bike that cost more than 4 or 5 k is all about the engine there is not advantage. When I first started riding I have a swing it wa 500 dollars and I used to get smoked when I did my rides on the weekend by people that have expensive bikes. But after riding everyday after 6 months I used to smoke them with the same bike.

    7. if everyone in the TDF rode the very same rig's saddles and sizes aside YES the results would be the same in 9 out of 10 tours, maybe slightly diffrent if they rode the same drop bar bike in TT's as well

    8. This channel is great but how bout giving American prices ,LBs and miles also? It would just add to more viewers.

    9. Only rich people can buy anything now. I guess if you grow up with bicycles now it can be called normal. Too weird for us old timers from the races before 1990. I trained for about 40 years since 1960!!
