Unlike static shows, steam fairs etc.. this is a classic “Motorcycle Run of oldies” including one of our favorite experts and presenters Gerry Burr. (RIP)

His knowledge and experienced carried a lot of these videos and shows over the years.

10th anniversary of the Spirit of the 60s starting at Yeovil. 497 motorcycles travelling 80 miles.. !

These bikes and some of the owners are from the highest point of British Motorcycle manufacturing and popularity.

MY first real bike was a Matchless G2 CSR.. she would qualify for this event. I hope she’s still out there somewhere.

I was an Apprentice at Westland Helicopters from 1973 to completion in 1977 . Then emigrated to Canada . I’m now 66 years , retired and working through 35 years of collecting bikes and parts . Brit bikes are a bit scarce in these parts . The occasional one turns up needing help .
Great to see the huge variety of machines in this video .
      I didn’t recognize anyone though !
Best part of living in Somerset was the people who influenced me . From bicycles to road bikes it was always kind people that helped me through with advice and parts . £ 7.00 pounds a week didn’t get you much living in ‘ digs .
Big shout out those that did ,far too many to list . Happy times with Mike Hann , who I’ve never forgot . He let me use his ‘Cub at a Yeovale scramble on Marshall duty , I also rode the Mickmar Special . Great guy !
Places of other interest were Jim Patch Yamaha and Michael Martins shop around the corner . Badger Goss’s downtown , a long push bike ride to EA Taylor’s shop in Misterton . Also a smaller shop in Bower Hinton Jim Horwoods I believe . All took the time to listen and advise , encourage and just be great to be around .
My ‘ Mentor was Reg White a great guy , Westland craftsman and got me into Trials , found me a 1965 model 10 ‘Taco .
      31st production Sherpa T .
      ( John Lawley thank you ! )
I still have the original sales brochures with Millers 4 digit Highcliff . phone number written by the man himself .
Happy times mostly . Taking off the ‘ Rose tinted ‘ glasses now , and back to work on the 74 850 HiRider ! Someone has to do it .👍🇨🇦
