Jan Ullrich was a German professional cyclist who is widely regarded as being among the all-time greatest time cyclists. In 1993, he won the road race competition at the World Amateur Championships, which catapulted him to the forefront of international attention. After making the transition to a professional cyclist, Ullrich finished in second place at the Tour de France in 1996 and was awarded the white jersey for being the best young rider.

He would go on to win the Tour de France in 1997, adding a second white jersey to his collection of accomplishments. 2. He could have been great if he had overcome his weight problems and changed his style of riding; he was never beating Armstrong by mashing the pedals in a huge gear, when Lance was dancing on the pedals, spinning in smaller gears. Perhaps it wasn't possible for him to evolve his style, what do i know, eh?!

    3. If it wasnt for Lance Armstrong coming out of retirement and subsequently getting caught doping, Ullrich might have been okay. Lance's greed was Jan's downfall. Thanks Lance!
