    1. For anyone on steel, remember to spray all your frames drip holes and other orifices with a good rust proofing product and make sure it reaches all those spots where water can sit or condense. Road salt can eat through a chainstay in a single season if it sits in there. BB's and hubs deserve special care too, if you know what you're doing.

    2. I’ve spent all my money on a nukeproof giga + tonnes of upgrades and now I can’t afford a helmet, so buying a bike for winter is not a good idea.

    3. Questions!

I'm planning to go for a trip that's going to be one of my EPICS…
There will be long-mellow singles and rabid hills that would surely kill my legs.
But here's the thing, the trip involves long, long straight tarmac lines. Maybe too long.
Would a hardtail be the good option for the paved flats, and anything else?

Plus, would mounting triathlon aero bar to a xc flat bar for this be a stupid idea?
I'm trying this someday for the sake of the versatility of the mountain bikes anyway….

    4. 'Afan forest': single letter f in Welsh denotes a V sound, so you pronounce 'Afan', 'A-van', more or less the same stresses on the syllables and pronunciation as if you were saying, "she's sold her car and bought a van".
Nice real world example for you 😅

    5. I have 2 fat bike hard tails.
The frame will accommodate 29+, so any wheel size, love this flexibility.
      4.5 inch
fat tyre gives up to 4 inches of floatation. A 3.8 inch fat tyre gives up to 3 inches of floatation. More than enough for the roughest riding. So Fatbike hard tails give the cush, float and drive.

    6. I believe in winter hardtails. My main trail bike is a Santa Cruz Hightower v2, but for winter I’ve built a 2000 kona roast hardtail with 130mm bomber dirt jumper one fork, shimano xtm750 1×9, hope mini brakes, no dropper and it’s the dream. I love oldschool bikes and I love new full suspension bikes too.

    7. It the muddy slop, suspension feels vague and you feel disconnected from the ground. There's nothing better than just ploughing through and digging your path during the winter.
