The Wachau is a UNESCO world heritage site that lies between the towns of Melk and Krems (just an hour outside Vienna). The best way to explore this beautiful region, famous for Austrian white wine, is to bike the unbelievably scenic route along the Danube River. We rode about 20 miles, veering through beautiful vineyards along the way, and ending with a celebratory bottle of Grüner Veltliner.
