In this roundtable Nidesh Lawtoo introduces the latest outputs that emerged from the ERC project Homo Mimeticus, including a recent volume on Violence and the Mimetic Unconscious (MSU P, 2023). In the inspiring company of LUCAS colleagues Jan van Dijkhuizen, Yasco Horsman, Stijn De Cauwer, and Mathijs Peters, the goal of this roundtable is to establish new connections between the transdisciplinary field of mimetic studies and the different masks of mimesis already at play at LUCAS, including imitation and representation, but also the tradition of imitatio Christi, Jacques Lacan’s theory of the imaginary, Georges Didi-Huberman’s theory of the image and Harmut Rosa’s concept of “resonance” among other manifestations of homo mimeticus.
