To mark exactly 1 year after uploading my first video at Rufford Ford, I travelled back up to the ford to see what has happened to it since its closure last December. I heard that not much had happened, but did not expect it to look so abandoned and derelict. I discuss the impact that it has had on the local area, as well as the extreme costs the council has had to pay for its closure.
As well as all that, I meet up with @midlifecrisis101x to discuss its history, and get some information from a councillor about its potential future.

    1. Honestly, if you think that's a lot of money for a council to spend on a temporary traffic measure, you're in for a shock if you look at other schemes!

    2. Its the idiots that drove through at speed encouraged by those filming that caused it to close. The same will happen again, although im sure next time it gets closed it wont re open.

I guess for those involved previously, if you wish to be responsible, just dont film here, but sadly for those, the fame and revenune from you tube will bring them all back. Pure greed. Maybe they should pay for the next road closures and if any local business has to close once it re opens. They may re think their operation then.

That said it largely comes down to the council. Speed humps and narror road would belp, as would fencing off the wyre. But they wont do that either and its them ultimately who will be at fault for afciliting it. That will look even worse since the road had to be closed in the first place as the measures were not in place. Perhaps when the forst major accident happens here, whoch it will soon, the council will be sued and serve them right.

    3. As soon as yhe ford trended on social media and YouTube (and it did) and the council got wind of it, it was destined to be shut. The council (like all of them) are spineless and risk averse. They closed it so as not to be sued and litigated to dust by stupid drivers damaging their cars and suing the council and the dangerous speeds some drivers flew into the water whilst spectators watches by the sides of the road.
The council don't care about people or locals car's. If they did they'd have closed it down in the 70's….but social media forced their cowardice because it was becoming world infamous at killing cars and the council couldn't hope to contain it. 😂

    4. I'm no structural engineer but sure they could've just built a bridge for either less than or not much more than the cost of those barriers. Permanent fix. Job done. 🤷‍♂️

    5. Land owners can't just just errect barbed where ever they want, it comes with rules and restrictions. Google is your friend here. . . . .Barbed wire or razor wire located within 2.4 metres of highways is considered a nuisance and potential risk and local authorities can issue notices for it to be removed. And this . . . . .Police forces advise against the use of barbed wire to protect residential buildings as the householder is likely to be liable for any injuries or damage caused if a trespasser or burglar attempted to break in. They recommend considering alternative, safe perimeter security precautions. Thanks Adam 👍

    6. You should see sed tractor driver who said FFFFUUUU to the bollards aaaaaand drove str8 through em BWAHAHAHA but seriously gt a grip its act soooooo cringey AFFFFFF

    7. There's a railway bridge close to us that's had "temporary" traffic lights on it. Those "temporary" lights have now been there for over six years and cost more than 200 thousand pounds.

    8. You have little idea how companies work. The council will have a long term contract with the company who supplied the bollards and I would bet that the price will be a quater of the cost of a weekly cost to you.

    9. It seems to me that frequently the local councils solution to road problems is to just close the road. Near where I live last winter instead of salting the more rural roads round where I live, they just closed them all which meant my 20 minute drive to work became 50 minutes. I'm sure if they just put in some rubber speed bumps straight away, they'd end up paying no more than the cost of hiring the bollards.

    10. They have a footbridge over so why no bridge for vehicles they'll steal are money in taxes but it never goes to anything good it goes into funding unlawful wars so the ruling class bloodline families get wealthier whilst the 99% end up in poverty just like they want😊

    11. I mean if they were really bothered they could just build another bridge going over it … redo the entire section then the water can go under etc …. plus another reason it was closed was a biker broke his legs there.

    12. Its a road with standing water on it. This is common. This can be found EVERYWHERE in the USA. Im not sure how the authorities or council are able to take themselves seriously. Its pathetic a road with standing water on it raises issue for them!

    13. Must of cost drivers thousands of pounds due to the serious damage done to the engines,if I was there insurance company, I’d personally decline every claim, some people shouldn’t be driving at all

    14. The owner of those cars didn't give a shot about their own cars so why should the council. Kept it closed, kep the knobheads at bay!
Let's face it, the knobheads always spoil things for not only themselves, but the rest of sensible people!
