This is a short film about our recent gravel bike packing trip starting out at Didcot Parkway railway station and heading to the beautiful city of Bath. The Groad to Bath.

We originally intended to start the ride from Swindon and pick up the Ridgeway / King Alfred’s Way before joining the Sustains route that roughly follows the Kennet & Avon Canal. However due to issues with the trains we had to hastily replan our Komoot Tour to start from Didcot. Thanks Komoot for doing a great job!

From Didcot you can follow the National Cycle Route off-road to Upton and then climb up to the Ridgeway on the byways to the Avebury stone circle. Following the Wessex Ridgeway you re-join Kennet & Avon Cycleway route to Bath.

We swopped the early off-road part with some fast road to make-up time, which also make a a nice addition and turned it into a classic ‘groad’ trip mixing up all kinds of surfaces, whilst still keeping a decent amount of gravel.

For those hop lovers – when you arrive be sure to check out the Bath Brew House for super-nice craft beer brewed in the microbrewery on-site and of course make sure you grab some Bath Buns!

The Original Komoot Tour is here: https://www.komoot.com/tour/1342521043?ref=wtd&share_token=astQeBiqMy3oQiNaBYrem2jEJ1YXoEAG8E6qqP592n65Ls501N

To start from Didcot follow National Cycle Route 544 to Upton and then past the pub up to the Ridgeway and head west from there.

In case you’re wondering we ride matching Condor Odyssey’s, and I am using Apidura bags. The filming is done on a mixture of an Olympus OM-5 and GoPro Hero 8. Jo is wearing lovely kit by Universal Colours.
