In the spring and early summer, I planted a series of heirloom chrysanthemums from Bluestone Perennials and King’s Mums. Join me as I show you how they are doing, what thrived and what didn’t survive, and harvesting them for the first time.

    1. I'm sure you will have a beautiful mum garden next year. I love the Satin Ribbons and the Lili Gallon and I will have to purchase those. In Mich 6b I usually cut back my mums in April and then do some pinching in June just to shape it and make it bushier. My issue is overwintering potted cuttings. I dont have a garage and no room to plant the whole pot.

    2. I've been waiting for this. Looks like you are growing them without support. But a few you had to pick up to show, will you be supporting them?
Do you have any information on how well they would do in Florida zone 8b? There are several plants (flowers) that say you can grow them in zone 8 but they won't grow here, like peonies.

    3. Perfect timing on this video. I just planted several mums in the ground yesterday that I picked up on clearance. Your mums will be bursting with blooms next spring they are beautiful and a good dahlia replacement.

    4. I love the vanilla, lava, mocha, satin ribbons and homecoming. All so pretty and hard to choose favorites. I hope you get a big flush next year! ❤

    5. Hi Amanda, if is just a light frost. You could trow frost fabric over them every evening/night and that way help them get trough the frost days..
your mums looks nice. Remember that each year they will get bigger and more full in there blooms – the first year they just get established 😊 every year from now they will get better and better

    6. Thank you for sharing the company’s photos alongside your own. I’ve been so discouraged with ordering plants online and it helps to see your positivity when reality doesn’t meet up with expectations. Gardening requires eternal optimism 🥰

    7. Great information. QUESTION: I saw that you use a green care with each mum. Do you think I can place wood stakes as well? or do you recommend the cages? Where did you purchase them? Thank you for sharing…

    8. I planted French vanilla, coral cavillier and cheerleader in June. French vanilla has been blooming for about 6 weeks and color looks like yours. The others are just starting and have many buds. We are also predicted to have a freeze tonight so am hoping they survive.

    9. Perenials: 1st year they sleep, 2nd year they creep, 3rd year they leap! I teng to Google images of the plant/flower I want. Catalog and plant co. Images are saturated with color and not true to life. That should really change 🤔

    10. I was wondering if how all those heirloom mums you planted would do this year. Thanks for the update. Such a shame we're getting an early frost and won't see all of your mum buds bloom. Not to worry, they will be stunning next year. Looking forward to seeing the arrangement you create with them for your mom.

    11. I find that Southern gardens tend to get bleached out blooms from the intense sun. Maybe some shade cloth one year to see if you get truer colors. Whatever, they are beautiful!
