Tirana, Albania, 2023 Guide. Commie dictators, King ZOG, The Pyramid and Football stadium.
From the airport to town centre and a look around the sights that Tirana has to offer. Much more modern then I expected and relatively cheap. Visiting the great Pyramid, Enver Hoxha’s House, King ZOGs statue, Skanderbeg Square, the plush football stadium and the Great Mosque.
Had never seen inside Albania before – was NOT like I expected! A clean city centre, with surprisingly impressive modern architecture and plenty of restaurants. People seem well dressed and didn't spot any beggers or junkies. As Steven said, we gotta get there now before tourists and stag-do's spoil the place. We just spent a month living in Tirana, and LOVED it. This brought us right back. We stayed in Blloku for the month and were SO surprised by the coffee culture there and how nice everyone was. We definitely want to go back soon.
