If you ride a bike, you’re a good person…but is this really true? We discuss cycling research investigating whether riding bikes makes you a better human. However, a story that emerged down the road from the GCN Megabase says otherwise… We revisit the expense of cycling and there’s cyclocross excitement as the Van de Poel versus Van Aert rivalry is set to return.

    1. As the Chipping Sodbury kingpin is being extradited to face charges (so presumably not yet found guilty) I'm sure you meant to say the "alleged" nefarious druglord. I took one for the team to get the Mail Online take on it – even they used the word "allegedly". GCN going full-on tabloid on his a%*.

    2. A 49yr old drug lord cyclist getting a 120 year prison sentence is clear evidence of how healthy cyclists can be even healthier with pharmaceutical assistance.

    3. If I’ve a drug lord kinda money, probably will go with complete custom, maybe another titanium or xcr and carbon mix full custom. Unfortunately I don’t have that much money… 🤓🤓❤️✌🏾

    4. Less expensive bikes are not less expensive they still are expensive relatively to what you pay for. So a metal frame with aluminum wheels and other heavy parts and heavy 9 speed group set should not cost more than 700€. If they cost more then they are considered expensive.
I built my own superbike and sorted everything from different retailers best quality frame, bottom bracket, wheels and other parts). I've managed to save more than 2000€ maybe much more if you know that some brands sell very expensive frames that don't worth the price asked for.
Almost all bike brands are just retailers, frames build somewhere in Asia parts sorted from different sources, they assemble everything and sell it to you at MSRP.
For example, if you try to build the same build as the brand (using the same frame and parts) you will find out that you don't get a discounted group set for example. Why?
I don't believe Trek or Canyon by shimano groupset from a bike shop 😂

    5. Lotus type 136 would be my crime lord bike. I think it's a type of bike you can flex to your rivals. Then my everyday bike would be something found in the junkyard and repaired. You'll seem like a cheapo.

    6. I missed the show on being ‘ripped off’ but having caught up: when I returned to cycling aged 58 (2 years ago) I balked at spending £50 on a pair of cycling shoes (as an example) but now, I’ve learnt that good quality kit – costs. Just bought a pair of GTX winter shoes and what a difference! Toastie tootsies!! But, I do find that I am more willing to spend more than I ever thought I would because even my limited experience has taught me that quality costs. Search those sales, watch prices, buy when right and love your LBS.

    7. Hey Si and Manon just so you’re aware if not already. I’ve been blessed to win that amazing Orbea Gain. Still waiting for it. Had a set of bib tights and Jersey as courtesy for waiting from Orbea Think it would be fitting to have the bike with some GCN Gear Maybe Contents on GCN still amazing by the way. Thanks
